The Seasons Of My Life
The life of a poet
Or at least someone who aspires to be
The same as the life of any other or perhaps not
Conflicted within self
Fighting self to be self
But who is self?
The search wages on
The hunger pangs through
Life's short, what's its purpose?
What's my purpose?
Ambition's really not my thing
And yet it always seems to find me
I live for the day, with the hope of a better tomorrow
All the while knowing it'll be worse
But hey, what's a man to do?
I lay awake at night with my mind on a thousand things
Can't seem to count sheep
Inspiration comes best when silence hears her voice
Mildy asks why the light's on
I tell her I've got to put pen to paper
Cos by morning, the drive's gone
Hate to wax personal
But hey, my pen, my paper, my pain, my life
With no intentions of pouring my life on a page
I hope to inspire someday, those who life bruise
Life's got a big feet you see
You've got to be a man and not let it kick you out
I've known pain in dimensions no one should
But they say God's got his reasons
The show's his, I'm merely an actor in a movie I didn't audition for
He knows well that if I had a choice, I'll say 'pass' and remain in non-existence
Me and God, oh He and I
Don't get in between when we have a 'lovers' quarrel'
I walk around saying I don't believe in Him no more
He walks beside me telling me to light up
Seems as if He says 'I can carry you on my back after all your enemies attack'
I think I'm hearing voices in my head
And walk on like I'm all alone on a cold planet
Yeah, the seasons of my life
Happiness has been a concept not an experience
At the end of every dark tunnel, there's light
Clichés fail to help in the twilight
Day sometimes break in the darkness
And I'm like 'something was bound to go right today'
As each day passes by and life loses its lustre
And I, my innocence
As I watch my dad almost take his last breath in front of me
And my friend die from a stray bullet
And another lose his mom to cancer
