You Come to Me
In the
stillness
of
the
night,
after
darkness
has
set
in,
you
come
to me
warming
my
heart,
filling
my
dreams
with
burnin g
desires.

Burning Alive
[oooh yeah]
Burnin alive, set my soul on fire
Runnin with a gun, this place is gonna burn
No firewater, or novacaine
No thunderstorm, no john wayne
No kids to rock, nowhere to run
So watch out cause this place is gonna burn
Burnin alive, burnin alive
Burnin alive, burnin alive
[burnin alive, burnin alive]
They be smokin your hide, come runnin wild
Tell you nothin to fear, cause the buck stops here!
He came from a little town called hope
And someday, maybe, itll go up in smoke
[i say]
No firewater, or novacaine,
No thunderstorm, and no john wayne
No kids to rock, nowhere to run
So watch out, cause this place is gonna burn
Burnin alive, burnin alive
Burnin alive, burnin alive
Its an all out war, an all out war
Burnin alive, burnin alive
Somewhere, theres a little town called hope
And someday, maybe baby, hell inhale that smoke!
[yeah, were] burnin alive, burnin alive
[burnin alive, burnin alive
Burnin alive, burnin alive
Burnin alive, burnin alive]
Its an all out war, an all out war
Hear the battle roar, its an all out war

Burning Up
Im burnin up, Im burnin up, Im burnin up for your love
Im burnin up, Im burnin up, Im burnin up for your love
You let me down, turned me round, you messed around with my heart
What kind of woman with a smile on her face
Can tear your whole world apart, hey
Im on fire, I feel it burnin up, Im on fire
Im burnin up, burnin up, Im burnin up every night
Im burnin up, burnin up, and burnin up can feel so right
I see the smoke, I feel the heat, my life is going up in flames
How could you be so indiscrete, and still be so unashamed, hey
Im on fire, I feel it burnin up, Im on fire
Hey you said youd never leave me, you said wed never be apart
You turned out to be a liar, and left me with a broken heart
Why did you do it babe, yeah
(solo)
Im on fire, Im burnin inside, Im on fire, why did you do it baby
Ooh Im burnin up, Im burnin up, Im burnin up for your love
Ooh Im burnin up, see Im burnin up, Im burnin up for your love
Watch me burn, see me burnin, cause my hearts on fire
Watch me burn, see me burnin up for your love
Watch me burn, see me burnin up for your love
Watch me burn...

Burnin Up
Burning up! my heart is like burnin up!
Burning up! my heart is like burnin up!
Burning up! my heart is like burnin up!
Burning up! my heart is like burnin up!
Sometimes you can be in love and having fun
And still not know whats goin on
Or on the other hand you separate, thinking that the feelins gone
Feels like forever when were together
I knew that we are destinied
So heres the last chance for the last dance
For us to bring back the dream
So baby come and rescue me
Im burnin up!
I got somethin for you to see
Im burnin up!
Baby come and take me there
Im burnin up!
Trust me you should
Hurry up!
Baby Im just burnin up!
Im burnin up!
Rap:
In the midnite
Wait a minute
I can be in a lonely place
Then along you come with the sweetest thing to say
And put the sun in my day
So baby come and rescue me
Im burnin up!
I got somethin for you to see
Im burnin up!
Baby come and take me there
Im burnin up!
Trust me you should
Hurry up!
Baby Im just burnin up!
Im burnin up!
So baby come and rescue me
Im burnin up!
I got somethin for you to see
Im burnin up!
Baby come and take me there
Im burnin up!
Trust me you should
Hurry up!
Baby Im just burnin up!
Im burnin up!

The House Of Dust: Complete
I.
The sun goes down in a cold pale flare of light.
The trees grow dark: the shadows lean to the east:
And lights wink out through the windows, one by one.
A clamor of frosty sirens mourns at the night.
Pale slate-grey clouds whirl up from the sunken sun.
And the wandering one, the inquisitive dreamer of dreams,
The eternal asker of answers, stands in the street,
And lifts his palms for the first cold ghost of rain.
The purple lights leap down the hill before him.
The gorgeous night has begun again.
'I will ask them all, I will ask them all their dreams,
I will hold my light above them and seek their faces.
I will hear them whisper, invisible in their veins . . .'
The eternal asker of answers becomes as the darkness,
Or as a wind blown over a myriad forest,
Or as the numberless voices of long-drawn rains.
We hear him and take him among us, like a wind of music,
Like the ghost of a music we have somewhere heard;
We crowd through the streets in a dazzle of pallid lamplight,
We pour in a sinister wave, ascend a stair,
With laughter and cry, and word upon murmured word;
We flow, we descend, we turn . . . and the eternal dreamer
Moves among us like light, like evening air . . .
Good-night! Good-night! Good-night! We go our ways,
The rain runs over the pavement before our feet,
The cold rain falls, the rain sings.
We walk, we run, we ride. We turn our faces
To what the eternal evening brings.
Our hands are hot and raw with the stones we have laid,
We have built a tower of stone high into the sky,
We have built a city of towers.
Our hands are light, they are singing with emptiness.
Our souls are light; they have shaken a burden of hours . . .
What did we build it for? Was it all a dream? . . .
Ghostly above us in lamplight the towers gleam . . .
And after a while they will fall to dust and rain;
Or else we will tear them down with impatient hands;
And hew rock out of the earth, and build them again.
II.

Burning Down
If it takes them so long, so long to say yes, why dont they just say no
We dont need anyone to be put to the test, why dont they let us be
Chorus:
Livin for the right to be, livin for the right
Livin for the right to be, livin for the right
Livin for the right to be free
We needed a plan, we needed defences, they couldnt raise a smile
As the world looked down, they raided our senses, there can be no reconcile
(chorus)
Burnin down, burnin down, burnin down, burnin down
There was a time in our life was taken for granted, itll never come again
Our flower is dead, the seed is unplanted, they put it all to the flame
Burnin down, burnin down, burnin down, burnin down
Burnin down, burnin down, burnin down, burnin down
(chorus)
Burnin down, burnin down
Burnin down, burnin down, burnin down, burnin down...

The Idols
An Ode
Luce intellettual, piena d' amore
Prelude
Lo, the spirit of a pulsing star within a stone
Born of earth, sprung from night!
Prisoned with the profound fires of the light
That lives like all the tongues of eloquence
Locked in a speech unknown!
The crystal, cold and hard as innocence,
Immures the flame; and yet as if it knew
Raptures or pangs it could not but betray,
As if the light could feel changes of blood and breath
And all--but--human quiverings of the sense,
Throbs of a sudden rose, a frosty blue,
Shoot thrilling in its ray,
Like the far longings of the intellect
Restless in clouding clay.
Who has confined the Light? Who has held it a slave,
Sold and bought, bought and sold?
Who has made of it a mystery to be doled,
Or trophy, to awe with legendary fire,
Where regal banners wave?
And still into the dark it sends Desire.
In the heart's darkness it sows cruelties.
The bright jewel becomes a beacon to the vile,
A lodestar to corruption, envy's own:
Soiled with blood, fought for, clutched at; this world's prize,
Captive Authority. Oh, the star is stone
To all that outward sight,
Yet still, like truth that none has ever used,
Lives lost in its own light.
Troubled I fly. O let me wander again at will
(Far from cries, far from these
Hard blindnesses and frozen certainties!)
Where life proceeds in vastness unaware
And stirs profound and still:
Where leafing thoughts at shy touch of the air
Tremble, and gleams come seeking to be mine,
Or dart, like suddenly remembered youth,
Like the ache of love, a light, lost, found, and lost again.
Surely in the dusk some messenger was there!
But, haunted in the heart, I thirst, I pine.--
Oh, how can truth be truth
Except I taste it close and sweet and sharp
As an apple to the tooth?

Wildfire
How many hearts can
Have everything
Never ever found the one and all
The fire it brings
I wanna try more now than i
Dared before
Ive got to know what passion is
Girl Ive got to find the love
Day to day nothing there
I had to let go
Heard a call that I resisted cos it
Had no soul
When you get and never give it
Its so cold
Youre something else, oh I know
Ive got this wildfire that only grows
Every day its in my soul
This wildfire, its burnin deep
Its burnin deep - burnin burnin
Wildfire
It didnt take long
All my life is not too long
This wildfire is burning bright
Burnin bright, burnin, burnin
All around me
Theres a fire thats catching on
Make a burning field of dreams
Little spark of light touched
And grew
Fed by all the love
That Im feeling here with you
No one can believe it, but
They can see
That since weve been together
Youve made a change in me
Being alone is so wrong, its so cold
When somethings right, ooh I know
Ive got this wildfire that only grows
Every day its in my soul
This wildfire, its burnin deep
Its burnin deep - burnin burnin
Wildfire
It didnt take long
All my life is not too long
This wildfire is burning bright
Burnin bright, burnin, burnin
We gotta live to give - live and
Let love
Be here in the moment with the
One I want

Fire
Fire
Fire
You know theres a fire
You started a fire
Burnin in my heart
My desire caught fire baby
From just one tiny spark
Now its outta control
Spreadin thru my soul
Its been deliberately set
Gonna get even hotter yet
Burnin me up
You started a fire
A burnin in my heart
You started a fire
Burnin in my heart and soul
Baby with your love
I burst into flames
When I called out your name
And suddenly I was engulfed
Now my whole lifes on fire
Flames keep gettin higher and higher
In the feat of the night
I get the fever
But it feels all right
Burnin me up
You started a fire
Burnin in my heart
You started a fire
Burnin in my heart
Fire
Fire
You know theres a fire
You starteda fire baby
Burnin in my heart
Burnin in my soul
Burnin red hot coal
Now Im really hot
I just cant be stopped
Now its your turn to burn
Got to learn to walk on fire
Burnin me up
You started a fire
Burnin in my heart
You started a fire
Burnin in my heart

Song of Wink Star
The Song of Wink Star
a happy story for children of all ages
story and text © Raj Arumugam, June 2008
☼ ☼
☼ Preamble
Come…children all, children of all ages…sit close and listen…
Come and listen to this happy story of the stars and of life…
Come children of the universe, children of all nations and of all races, and of all climates and of all kinds of space and dimensions and universes…
Come, dearest children of all beings of the living universe, come and listen to The Song of Wink Star…
Come and listen to this story, this happy story…listen, as the story itself sings to you…
Sit close then, and listen to the story that was not made by any, or written by a poet, or fashioned by grandfathers and grandmothers warming themselves at the fire of burning stars…
O dearest children all, come and listen to the story that lives
of itself, and that glows bright and happy….
Come…children all, children of all ages, come and listen to this happy story, the story so natural and smooth as life, as it sings itself to you….
☼ The Song of Wink Star
a happy story for children of all ages
☼ 1
Night Child, always so light and gentle, slept on a flower.
And every night, before he went to sleep, he would look up at the sky.
He would look at the eastern corner, five o’clock.
And there he would see all the stars in near and distant galaxies that were only visible to the People of Star Eyes.
Night Child was one of the People of Star Eyes. And so he could see the stars. And of all the stars he could see, he loved to watch Wink Star.
Wink Star twinkled and winked and laughed.
Every night Wink Star did that. Winked and laughed.

Burnin' The Honky Tonks Down
She's burnin' the honky tonks down
Burnin' the honky tonks down
Smoke's been rising all over town
She's burnin' the honky tonks down
She's burnin' the honky tonks down
She caught me runnin' around
She was dancin' in the ashes
When they caught her with them matches
She's burnin' the honky tonks down
Well she's burnin' the honky tonks down
I tried but I could not put them out
Did the best to save the whiskey
But the flame's just too risky
She's burnin' the honky tonks down
She's burnin' the honky tonks down
She couldn't stop that honky tonk sound
It was sizzlin' like a griddle
When I ran out with my fiddle
She's burnin' the honky tonks down
She's burnin' the honky tonks down
She's down in the jailhouse now
Said she felt no remorse
For breakin' out that torch
She's burnin' the honky tonks down
Burnin' the honky tonks down
Smoke's been a rising all over town
She's burnin' the honky tonks down

Dj can you play it as a favour for me
You know the joint that she shortys keep talkin about
Dj can you play it as a favour for me
You know the joint that makes em get down, get down
Take those
New records off the shelf
cause I aint dancin by myself
And youre the only one who can help
Uh huh
Saw this hunnie come through the back door
And I need to get her out on the floor
So get up on to your feet
By breakin you off a drink
cause you know what I came here for..
[chorus]
Dj can you play it as a favour for me
You know the joint that she shortys keep talkin about
Dj can you play it as a favour for me
You know the joint that makes em get down, get down
Dj can you play it as a favour for me
You know the joint that she shortys keep talkin about
Dj can you play it as a favour for me
You know the joint that makes em get down, get down

Rockin, rockin
Hip hop with rock n roll
Mix it with a lil rhythm and soul
And you know that well be good to go
Uh huh
I think its time for the place to get hot
So dj make the beat drop
You better raise up your glass
And start shakin yo (ahh)
cause the party aint about to stop
[chorus]
Ima put another dime up in the jukebox
Let the music play all night long
Giving you a taste of southern comfort
Wraped up in a love song
Record man can we do it again?
Press rewind before the joint ends
cause Im about to pull a round up of seats
And I wont be ........... stand the heat

Filling Up With Heaven
Once there was a vision
Once there was a glow
Once there was a certainty
No chance could overthrow
Hope was scorched by summer
Crushed and beaten down
Once there was a winner
Now there was a clown
Without you life had seemed so
But now im
Filling up with heaven
Without you life had
Seemed so hostile
Filling up with heaven
But maybe with you its all worthwhile
Now Im filling up with heaven
No baby no baby no baby no
Filling up
No baby no baby baby baby no
Filling up
No baby no baby no baby no
No baby no baby baby baby no
All the fortune that my
Luck had brought
It couldnt even make me smile
Without you life had seemed so
A lonely hideaway my last resort
All achievement infantile
Now im
Filling up with heaven
Without you life had
Seemed so hostile
Filling up with heaven
But maybe with you its all worthwhile
Hey hey hey
As the years had passed by
I became more cynical
All the magic had died
My existence clinical
Ow ow ow ow
But now im
Filling up with heaven
Down down
Down down
Filling up
Without you life had
Seemed so hostile
Down down
Down down
Hey hey hey hey

Burning Up
Said youre burnin up inside, no one seems to tell
Youre living from a personalized manual from hell
Life is pretty easy when its from my easy chair
And youre burnin up inside and no one cares
Said you had enough this time, cause time dont treat you well
You always cried coincidence, while I drew parallel
Life it seems so easy when its from my easy chair
And youre burnin up inside, burnin up inside
Burnin up inside and you hurt me!
Try to take my hand tonight, Ill show you where to start
cause every word that left your lips is like a needle through my heart
And life it seems so easy when its from my easy chair and youre burnin up inside, burnin up inside
Burnin up inside and you hurt my eyes
(cause youre burnin up inside)
Hurt my eyes
(cause youre burnin up inside)
Hurt my eyes
(cause youre burnin up inside)

Stillness: a Poem for the International Day of Stillness, November 28
'Stillness is my beloved teacher.
From her, I learn new things every day.'
I said to Stillness,
how can you teach me so well?
Stillness said,
By being with you always.
I said to Stillness,
How can you teach me so much?
Stillness said,
Because you have much within you;
I, but a mirror for your mind;
I, but a mirror for your heart.
I said to Stillness,
O my beloved teacher, will you
promise me you will never leave me?
Stillness said,
I cannot leave you;
though you can leave me..
but what is stillness without a companion?
I said to Stillness,
Is your work hard?
Stillness said,
I have the most wonderful task that I could wish for:
I sit with babies while they smile;
I sit with children in the classroom
as they delight to learn;
I sit with the angry and disturbed,
And watch them grow to peace;
I sit with the sad and lonely and bereaved
and watch them rediscover happiness and joy;
I sit with kings and queens and rulers
while they find wisdom and mercy;
I sit with governments and committees
while they find reason and justice;
I sit with artists and scientists,

The Loves of the Angels
'Twas when the world was in its prime,
When the fresh stars had just begun
Their race of glory and young Time
Told his first birth-days by the sun;
When in the light of Nature's dawn
Rejoicing, men and angels met
On the high hill and sunny lawn,-
Ere sorrow came or Sin had drawn
'Twixt man and heaven her curtain yet!
When earth lay nearer to the skies
Than in these days of crime and woe,
And mortals saw without surprise
In the mid-air angelic eyes
Gazing upon this world below.
Alas! that Passion should profane
Even then the morning of the earth!
That, sadder still, the fatal stain
Should fall on hearts of heavenly birth-
And that from Woman's love should fall
So dark a stain, most sad of all!
One evening, in that primal hour,
On a hill's side where hung the ray
Of sunset brightening rill and bower,
Three noble youths conversing lay;
And, as they lookt from time to time
To the far sky where Daylight furled
His radiant wing, their brows sublime
Bespoke them of that distant world-
Spirits who once in brotherhood
Of faith and bliss near ALLA stood,
And o'er whose cheeks full oft had blown
The wind that breathes from ALLA'S throne,
Creatures of light such as still play,
Like motes in sunshine, round the Lord,
And thro' their infinite array
Transmit each moment, night and day,
The echo of His luminous word!
Of Heaven they spoke and, still more oft,
Of the bright eyes that charmed them thence;
Till yielding gradual to the soft
And balmy evening's influence-
The silent breathing of the flowers-
The melting light that beamed above,
As on their first, fond, erring hours,-
Each told the story of his love,
The history of that hour unblest,
When like a bird from its high nest

The Undying One- Canto III
'THERE is a sound the autumn wind doth make
Howling and moaning, listlessly and low:
Methinks that to a heart that ought to break
All the earth's voices seem to murmur so.
The visions that crost
Our path in light--
The things that we lost
In the dim dark night--
The faces for which we vainly yearn--
The voices whose tones will not return--
That low sad wailing breeze doth bring
Borne on its swift and rushing wing.
Have ye sat alone when that wind was loud,
And the moon shone dim from the wintry cloud?
When the fire was quench'd on your lonely hearth,
And the voices were still which spoke of mirth?
If such an evening, tho' but one,
It hath been yours to spend alone--
Never,--though years may roll along
Cheer'd by the merry dance and song;
Though you mark'd not that bleak wind's sound before,
When louder perchance it used to roar--
Never shall sound of that wintry gale
Be aught to you but a voice of wail!
So o'er the careless heart and eye
The storms of the world go sweeping by;
But oh! when once we have learn'd to weep,
Well doth sorrow his stern watch keep.
Let one of our airy joys decay--
Let one of our blossoms fade away--
And all the griefs that others share
Seem ours, as well as theirs, to bear:
And the sound of wail, like that rushing wind
Shall bring all our own deep woe to mind!
'I went through the world, but I paused not now
At the gladsome heart and the joyous brow:
I went through the world, and I stay'd to mark
Where the heart was sore, and the spirit dark:
And the grief of others, though sad to see,
Was fraught with a demon's joy to me!
'I saw the inconstant lover come to take
Farewell of her he loved in better days,
And, coldly careless, watch the heart-strings break--
Which beat so fondly at his words of praise.
She was a faded, painted, guilt-bow'd thing,
Seeking to mock the hues of early spring,
When misery and years had done their worst

Darkness Of...
Darkness is not the darkness of night
it is the darkness of mind and soul.
darkness is not the darkness of night,
it is the darkness of discrimination between poor and rich.
darkness is not the darkness of night,
it is the darkness of dishonesty.
darkness is not the darkness of night,
it is the darkness of aggravate.
darkness is not the darkness of night,
it is darkness of corruption.
darkness is not the darkness of night,
it is the darkness of indiscipline.
darkness is not the darkness of night,
it is the darkness of animosity.
darkness is not the darkness of night,
it is the darkness of inveterate.
darkness is not the darkness of night,
it is the darkness of perjury.
darkness is not the darkness of night,
it is the darkness that we all brought up inside us,
so, light the lamp of light inside you...
