The Most Sought After Thing

What is that one thing which we all crave or want the most of in life?
is it wealth, health, fame, knowledge, love, a perfect husband or wife?
Or is it in fact a combination of all these things and yet even so much more?
something, perhaps that is everlasting, once gained can never be lost at all?

If such a thing did exist then could it be acquired or had?
and if so how could one have it and do good instead of bad?
Where would such a thing be found or come from or who be the giver thereof?
Could it be made available to all at any time when there was a genuine need of?

Is it a state of divinity the source of infinite power, knowledge and bliss
that each and every one can attain being their birthright but only dismiss?
It just so happens that all the true religions of the world seem to point in that direction
calling it specifically by a different name while having the same underlying conception.

An ultimate realised state of immortality without any restriction of time or space
transcending body, mind and individuality; every subtle and phenomenal place.
Not subject to any change or decay, though embracing all within itself seeing
and as one without any second, immaculate and complete, an unlimited being.

A supreme unique state of freedom and really the most sought after thing,
a plane of being of pure wisdom which in its wake all the above does bring.
That one victory of all victories which wins yourself and your true Selfhood
the real purpose and meaning of all life culminating in Universal Godhood.

There have been many in the past and even in the present who have gained this state
although it's virtually impossible to attain on one's own without being their good mate.
So dedicate yourself for the goal with love to gain their divine favour or benevolent grace
by a pure mind and heart seek their company letting one of them guide you to That Place.

After All These Years I Today Do Not Know What To Do With Myself

AFTER ALL THESE YEARS I TODAY DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO WIITH MYSELF

After all these years
I today do not know what to do with myself-

I have worked for such a long time
And now it feels as if I have no work-

I am a writer and I am writing now
So there is at least that -

But what must it be for so many retired people
Who after so many years
Find themselves with nothing to do?

How lost one is when one has so much time
And nothing to do with oneself
Except feel one's own uselessness
And inability to really do anything.

After All This- Happiness

There is a drunk boy in my bed and he smells.
I want him to leave so I can wash the sheets,
clean up,
arrange things, erase this episode
in my single hood.

Scandal, scandal, scandal, boys boys boys:
woke up this morning, no love in the bed.

You and I should meet for lunch. You can give me
advice. I sometimes feel judged. But that is from my
friends who aren't getting any.

Right now I guess I am wrapped up in the excitedness of it all.
But it is getting lonely here because most of my friends are getting
married.

One day, after all of this I will be married and happy and all that

Love, Anita.

A Man's World After All

Few women in business and politics succeed
For most males think it is their right to lead
And so few women have ever known renown
Down through the ages they have been kept down.

Male heroes through the ages we recall
It surely is a man's world after all
From today's heroes back to Genghis Khan
Most of the glory it would seem for man.

In this age of technology it seems sad to say
That in many cultures women still today
Are treated as inferior by men
And equality they can never hope to win.

The women who have made it in politics and business seem so few
And it's a man's world happen to be true
And something that by now ought be long gone
The fight for the equality of the sexes must go on.

After All The Endless Longing To Be Who We Are

IN THE MANNER OF BORGES I WRITE POEMS IN MY OLD AGE

In the manner of Borges I write poems in my old age
And dream that they are not only imitations
Of poems written by others
When we all were young.

Instead I go on now in the darkness of the night
Because the fear of what will be
Is always so deep in me
It does not need Poetry or Happiness or any other Meaning
Outside itself.

We are small sands drifting on the edge of stars
Lesser beings of a time we will never know
All that we have done comes back to us over and over again
As if we never were

I don’t believe I will ever write Borges lines
He wrote them in his own imagined words
And I must in my own little life
Suffer to the end of time
All I have not been
And never will be.

God Who is Good
God of Love
You gave me so much
You did not have to give me Poetry also.

THE REAL POETS

The real poets are few in number and largely known by name
The rest of us are endless frustration in aspiration
Words upon words upon words
Dreams upon dreams upon dreams
Getting and going nowhere forever unheard

The real poets find their anthologized place
And we know them over and over and over again
The rest of us just appear this only once
If we appear at all
And our words and our hearts and our minds
Do not encompass and inspire the endless rereadings
Time and Time’s Wounds make again and again and again

We are once only always forever losts
Nothing will save us
These words too coming in the wake of a long night’s reading
Of the poems of others
Cannot sustain and redeem
Cannot be what they would be
Cannot help and cannot save
Me or you or anyone we love
Even as poetry.

God Who Knows All
And in the End Decides on Everything
Has made us smaller even than the Angels
And our place in the Divine Song
Is not as far as we know
Anywhere heard at all.

Goodbye world
We are going
We have done what we could
We have written and written and written
Oxymandias’ poet will remain
And we will not
The lone and desert sands will stretch away
When we are not even a single grain.

THE WORLD IS FILLED WITH THE ENDLESS SILENCE OF THINGS

The world is filled with the endless silence of things
Dreams in old age are not the dreams of youth – and will never be
Old pain in old bodies stirs the imagination to anger at itself
The history of the universe begins somewhere long before we were born
And when Time ends more Time will not begin elsewhere
Parallel universes pose mathematical riddles to an evidence- hungry horde of physicists who live by supposition alone
And yet underneath it all we are biological beings – brains of our own misperceptions
Clamoring clamoring while on the other side of the moon
The cold goes deeper in us than all the distances we will never reach
Mites and Bites and Little Strings Digital waves and wiry wise things
We are all more than a cave painting with buffalo music beating in the fire
Under the darkness once
When we hunted with small eyes the body’s animal prey
Our spirit said mocking melodies of great and good sounds
Let the Maker of All be One in Love
And less than us may there never be new
The world we love and the people we trust
And the endless game of the transitions
This is a hell of a way to be who we are
And yet some say we are dust more than stars
And under the end of the forever we feel
Only our Names will remain not quite real.

AFTER ALL THE ENDLESS LONGING TO BE WHO WE ARE

After all the endless longing to be who we are
We come in old age to know what we dared never dream
That we as we are are less than we will forever be
And all that we have made is nothing beside
What God alone may make us should God have decided
That we are worth more than the interval here of our own small being
Dust is not enough
And will never be
For what we dream
For those we most love
Bones interred and epitaphs made righteous in stone
Cannot replace the vital thing of each breathing being
So so long ago
I knew when my grandmother died that she Bessie Zeibert- Peshie really- had so much love and goodness she should never be gone
Lost in her very last moments seeking a stolen sweater no one had ever taken
A sixteen year old girl in steerage with her first child who would never marry and live only to help his nephews and niece
God of Love
What are we
So many have died
So many good people
And I here officially an old man yet young enough to begin and thrive again in words
Questioning as I did then and knowing more and no more
We are the end and the beginning of the universe humanbeings kind or unkind
Light too is another name for death when it is forever too strong
I see I feel I know
We are what we are
And You will take us home
In a way we cannot dream now
Something so good as many of us have been
Must never die
And You Alone know how
We will survive
In the endless Infinite Eternity which no one who has ever lived can describe
Or truly understand.

After All The Years

Flippant
and so nonchalant
her husband just didn't care
that on their 'anniversary' date
his pretty wife would be elsewhere
love had become slightly stale
O why were they so distant
cold of heart and
Flippant
After all the Years?

Walt Whitman

What Am I, After All?

WHAT am I, after all, but a child, pleas'd with the sound of my own
name? repeating it over and over;
I stand apart to hear--it never tires me.

To you, your name also;
Did you think there was nothing but two or three pronunciations in
the sound of your name?

After All These Years

Yellow sunshine sad
almost glad
almost...

I can feel you touching me
after all these years
I wonder how you are feeling now
I wonder where you are

Behind which star are you hiding
are we playing hide and seek

25 years ago gone, goodbye
Like a knife to my heart

But I bleed not-
long ago-
lost the last drop
a long time ago

Most sought After...Least received

Soft arms wrap around you
In friendly warm embrace

Gesture without words
A smile upon one’s face

No charge…no love lost…
No obligation, no reservation

Freely given, no fee or cost
Warm reception, no hesitation

Not asked for… yet freely given
Rush of sensation, so warm, so snug

The most sought after thing…(for me)
is a warm friendly hug

After All Those Years....

i beg to tell you
my dear fellow human beings,
that after all those years
of loving,
time that makes us all nothing
but wrinkles,
seasons that with indifference
change,
flesh that turn to ashes,
bones that disappear,
glossiness that turn
into a rough surface,
i hate to tell you this,
before my death,
love is still, and will always be,
a word.

After All These Years

Breathe in the night
That crushed a tired sunrise
Born again the day
Brings young naivety

A laptop souvenir is worth its weight
In silver a golden son
You'll be home again
And I'll be home again

Mend in my sleep
I'm boxing under water
Waddle on the wake
Waking on a summer day

After all these years
Forget about all the troubled times
Munificent

After All

today
I've seen a
dragon lady
finally in
her pitiful
state

she is
barred from
getting out
of her
great country

she is
choked and
her body is
shrinking

deteriorating
in the
hospital of
her choice

i am waiting
to hear
from someone
around me
a word of
sympathy

for hours and
hours

there is
none

alas!
when she
whispered
that she is
dying

no one
believes
her

after all
she is
the dragon

never
a lady

After All Crazyness

Darkness,
it stays in my head,
driving me mad,
the anger controls everything,
for once it has meaning,
it has me feining,
dreaming,
eyes of black,
gets me attacked,
keeping me trapped,
on the wall i tapped,
i black out,
the anger takes over,
thoughts spinning in my head,
so hard to do this sober,
i try to find,
to find the light,
in my eyes,
there is only night,
after all your maddend too,
all i can say is,
i love you!

To Apologize After All These Years?

To apologize after all these years
To a woman I haven’t seen in forty years
Seems senseless.

We have each had our own lives and loved ones-
And do not know each other anymore-

Yet the thought that I was unkind
To someone who would have been kind to me
Troubles still-

Just as the memory of her beauty in those days
Is Longing in me and
Saddens me with the thought of how we both look now.

We are old people now
And it is all so far away
Even our un-kindnesses
Must go to the grave.

After All I Struggle On As I Am

AFTER ALL I STRUGGLE ON AS I AM

After all I struggle on as I am-
I dreamed something different and greater
But I have come to something less than I hoped -
And I have still to go on
When nothing says the ‘transformation’ I long worked for
Will ever come.

Still I pray I will continue in dignity as long as I can
And not fall into disgrace or shame or total helplessness-

But having lived this life
I know I cannot know
What will come
And how to prevent
A bad and prolonged sad and bitter end.

After All

Cher and Peter Cetera

Peter Cetera:

Well here we are again
I guess it must be fate
We've tried it on our own
But deep inside we've known
We'd be back to set things straight

Cher:
I still remember when
Your kiss was so brand new
Every memory repeats
Every step I take retreats
Every journey always brings me back to you

CHORUS Cher and Peter Cetera:

After all the stops and starts
We keep coming back to these two hearts
Two angels who've been rescued from the fall
After All that we've been through
It all comes down to me and you
I guess It's meant to be
Forever you and me

After All

Orbison/melson
You betrayed me after all
Built me up to let me fall
I still love you after all
Mmm, after all
After all is said and done
All the teardrops, all the fun
Guess youre still the only one
After all
After all, I want you
And I need you so
After all, all weve been through
There you go, oh-oh-oh, i...
I leave you now with some regret
And though I cant forget
I still bless the day we met
After all
After all, I want you
And I need you so
After all, all weve been through
There you go, oh-oh-oh, so...
So goodbye, and heres to you
Even though you made me blue
I still wish the best for you
After all

After All

This is the end
together we walk away
time finally giving us the answer
to a question so many times asked
thought it would be the other way around
guess their was no need to pretend

After all of the heartache
that filled inside of me
with so much of this frustration
after all of the broken promises
we did'nt have to make
after all those sweet kisses
I tasted on your lips
did'nt think it would be my heart
you would break
that would fade away forever

But now only time can mend
something that seemed so right
trying to erase those memories
I have to forget
as we walk our own path
like fools on sinking ships
(spiritwind-2000)
