The Lesser of Two Evils

"The lesser of two evils" is but a game
Played ‘tween twin-factions of corruption
It matters not whom two "Parties" name
Fed-Agenda continues sans interruption

Two Sides Of The Coin

Ive met some ladies and then some girls
But they dont tell you, they just want a whirl
Its kind of funny, a little sad
cause theyre not happy, theyre just kind of glad
To be with me for just a night
And maybe even turn out the lights, well turn out the lights
I need time to ease my mind, make up my mind, which one to find
Chorus:
Two sides of the coin to choose from, two sides of the coin, they are mine
Two sides of the coin, Im gettin weary
Which one should I choose, I need time
Id like to say a word or two, about the women we all seem to know
Theyre all around us, theyre everywhere
You meet them this place and then meet them there
Then you deside to pick a mate
Because youre tired of all those dates, of all those dates
I need time to ease my mind, make up my mind, which one to find
Chorus - choose one!
Chorus repeats out

From Which Two to Choose

Does this sound remotely logical...
That someone sitting,
In their home...
Alone.
In a quiet peacefulness,
They feel has been earned.
To wish upon themselves,
Havoc, chaos and twenty four hours...
Of nonstop conflict?
To wilfully admit a wish to invite 'that'?
And plot to destroy their own peace?

Are people that lonely?

I can be driven to the edge,
To make a decision...
Whether I prefer happiness,
Over walking on clouds of joy.

Those are my choices...
IF I was given any two,
From which to choose.

However,
ANYONE given the opportunity,
To choose between a root canal done,
Without anesthesia.
Or falling to sleep after a few glasses of wine?
AND...
They can not make up their minds?

I admit,
For someone like this...
PERHAPS that would be a tough decision to make!
IF they had no other experiences in life.
And they are in need of assistance to decide,
From which two to choose.

As for me?
I'd go with the hangover.
With an early morning ringing of the telephone,
Gone ignored.

~I Choose the Mountain~

The low lands call
I am tempted to answer
They are offering me a free dwelling
Without having to conquer

The massive mountain makes its move
Beckoning me to ascend
A much more difficult path
To get up the slippery bend

I cannot choose both
I have a choice to make
I must be wise
This will determine my fate

I choose, I choose the mountain
With all its stress and strain
Because only by climbing
Can I rise above the plane

I choose the mountain
And I will never stop climbing
I choose the mountain
And I shall forever be ascending

I choose the mountain

Sonnet: Choose the Right Field

Man ought to choose the area to work in;
The smallest size requires precision;
The largest one becomes almost dust-bin;
The ideal size engages best vision.

Too many fields distract man’s attention;
His skills and fervor are important;
The field chosen right gets concentration;
His economics is significant.

But much depends on imagination;
His ceaseless labor helps him do his task;
Yet, luck and pluck too help in creation;
The latter helps him in glory to bask.

Achievements have much struggles unseen, sure;
The time-factor variable, we endure.

Two Side Of The Moon

Laser, breathing on my window
Two strings, beating out of time
Koto, warning of the danger
Wake up, is your head still mine?
Now they give you reasons
To fight for love
Thats enough
In a paper world
Thats enough
Said the chinese girl
Thats enough
Another city falls
Just because were two sides of the moon
Data, streaming through my window
Chrome stars, whispering their lies
Black sky, hides approaching stranger
Reach out, two should now be one
Disregard the reasons
And look above
Thats enough
In a paper world
Thats enough
Said the siamese girl
Thats enough
Another city falls
Just because were two sides of the moon

Sonnet: Choose The Things in Your Life

0 choose your friend who must be good as you;
And choose your spouse better than you; make sure;
And choose the one best as your Teacher too;
And choose ambitions that suit your nature.

0 choose the profession thats truly best;
And choose the hobbies that ne'er interfere;
And choose your Time to begin work, take rest;
And choose your enemies, you surely fear.

0 choose your food that gives extended health;
And choose your garments -comfortable wear;
And choose the honest way to added wealth;
And choose the burden right, body can bear.

0 choose the people who deserve help most;
And choose good principles, yet never boast.

Two Suns In The Sunset

In my rear view mirror the sun is going down
Sinking behind bridges in the road
And I think of all the good things
That we have left undone
And I suffer premonitions
Confirm suspicions
Of the holocaust to come
The wire that holds the cork
That keeps the anger in
Gives way
And suddenly its day again
The sun is in the east
Even though the day is done
Two suns in the sunset
Hmmmmmmmmm
Could be the human race is run
Like the moment when your brakes lock
And you slide toward the big truck
And stretch the frozen moments with your fear
And youll never hear their voices
And youll never see their faces
You have no recourse to the law anymore
And as the windshield melts
My tears evaporate
Leaving only charcoal to defend
Finally I understand
The feelings of the few
Ashes and diamonds
Foe and friend
We were all equal in the end

At two o’clock in the afternoon

You complicate yourself
It is hot and you need a fan
You sweat
And in between some quick naps
You snap
For some missing thoughts
And you said
You need something to take
To remember
What you miss awhile
You need coffee
Or lemon tea
You do not want
Something cold
This is the hot portion of the day
And you do not want to crack
You scribble
There is something that is terribly lacking
In this foreplay of a good remembering
Something passionate
Or romantic
Or something to shock you so you do not
Get sleepy
You remember some lines at the tip
Of your tongue
But you cannot complete what you just remember
You sip coffee
It is so sweet and you do not like sugar
At two o’clock in the afternoon
You are half awake
You want to write but you cannot remember
You would rather sleep
But it is just too hot
And you are sweating

You keep mumbling words
Keeping yourself busy with what you
Remember and forget and cannot
Completely discard
Something is bugging you really
You know
You just don’t want to say it
You simply want to ignore it
It is facing you confronting you
Like a neighbor wanting
A fistfight
You turn your head away
And you keep saying it is hot and I
Need coffee but there is so much sugar
I can have tea, I am busy
Either you can have her or me

Not both, for God’s sake
Face it.

We Didn't Choose the Book

I came to see you better
in those final days because
you are my mother and
it's hard to get that in
perspective because
it's just a little bit too big
although we try
every chance we get
to tell mom
hey Mom, you're the greatest
love you Mom
my mom is my best friend
and mom's rule

But mom in the final days
although we didn't really know
that you would slip away from us
quite so suddenly
that one Sunday morning
it was afternoon when I got the call
my sister saying that you
just didn't wake up in the morning
and so we closed a chapter
on life and opened another
which we have yet to write
but mine will be filled with you
still because I remember
walking with you one arm
on yours just for love
and just to steady you. You
walked stiffly from the hip surgery
and you just get a little smaller
as real old age comes on
but just the physical part
Though you could say
everything starts to go
that's not really true
because Mom, you know
because you know
that love never forgets
I’ll never forget but I mean
you you never forgot love
although eventually you couldn't
remember much
well you would remember
stuff, but it got busted up
disjointed but Mom, it's cool
We we didn't choose the book
did we? No, we we didn't choose
the book, we just scribble
some little things into it

Notes: I write a lot, so often times I get something like this, which isn't very good. And yet it's like a photograph of me, so it has some value, at least to me. Also it is a stepping-stone perhaps in between good poems, and I would not have reached my next 'good' poem unless I had written this one.

Two toddlers in the municipal park

(in answer to Elisabeth Eybers)

Naked next to each other
two black toddlers are left

with a wormed small maleness
and a exposed female groove
and with wiggling legs they walk on

to where the canal of a dilapidated stream meanders
and where at time ducks or swans may have been,
there now are only empty concrete furrows,

as if a dark power holds the park, the town, the country,
the whole continent in its gigantic claws
and everything is declining,
is being broken down into pieces on a gigantic rubbish pile

and they look at a blue headed lizard
that lies and baking in the sun
and stare inquisitive at a few rock-lizards
that crawl one after the other from their trenches,
like soldiers with coordinated movements

and when a snake appears suddenly,
they look at it in wonder
when it strikes at both the lizards
before it devours them

and she - the small girl- grabs tightly onto the boy's hand
to draw him still nearer to the vermin
that perceives them both and rocks hissing back
and looks at the two with deadly seriousness
and with desperate power the boy jerks her back,
away from the thing that he perceives as danger

before they both burst out in tears
and run back with wiggling legs
to the shadow of a tree
where mom and dad lies stretched out on a blanket
next to two empty brandy bottles
that gleams in the bright sunlight

and beyond the stonewall of the park
an expensive German car passes,
are followed by two pickup trucks
and a horde of minibus taxis
are parked next to the municipal park,
with music blaring deafening
and a group of teenagers climb out of one

and he wants to walk into that direction
as a member of the collective wildness
but she is caught by his strange small snake
that rocks to and fro with each step that he takes

and when the teenagers become aware of the children
it appears as if they have far too much interest in them
and maybe it's the last day of danger,
or maybe some captured childhood days

and they may be molested
somewhere next to the road,
be disfigured, cut up,
for witchdoctor medicinal use
and thrown out of a taxi-buss

or it may only be amusing
to see two stark naked children.

The snake returns well-fed
to the hole from where it comes,
and the two toddlers are astonished
by one of the teenagers
who hides beyond a mask.
