We Are the Results of Our Seductions

Dieting on erotic products,
Induces an hypnotic feeling started.
And like a narcotic,
We are quick to become hooked.
Baited with temptations...
Seasoned to fry,
Or baked like a fish cooked.

And this mainlining,
Done to us without the prick of needles.
Afflicted with addictions done...
Without the prick of needles.

Dieting to get a fix,
Without the prick of needles to assist it.
Baited with temptations...
Seasoned to fry,
Or baked like a fish cooked.
Hooked!
We are the results of our seductions.

Because I stopped dieting already six months ago, and I think it's important to bring out a book like this and you are there a year later and say look, I'm still like this.

Our society's strong emphasis on dieting and self-image can sometimes lead to eating disorders. We know that more than 5 million Americans suffer from eating disorders, most of them young women.

Dieting on New Year's Day isn't a good idea as you can't eat rationally but really need to be free to consume whatever is necessary, moment by moment, in order to ease your hangover. I think it would be much more sensible if resolutions began generally on January the second.

I started dieting. I dieted, dieted, dieted and tried all the diets and I would lose and then I would go back to normal eating and would put it on and then some.

Metamorphosis

Commenced
as a tiny
egg glued to foliage.
Maturing bondage in a shell
awaits

Larva
Eating, growing,
full size caterpillar
outgrows its present confines.
Splitting

Again
Reattaching
itself with liquid from
its spinneret. Creating a
button.

hanging
little pupa
dieting, motionless,
metamorphosing completely
anew

Cracking,
exposing head
and thorax first. Followed
by legs and golden wings of a
Monarch.

Many Diets you follow.
Losing weight like no tomorrow.
And it finally plateau,
You indulge in sweet sorrow.

How Things Really Went

when he turned pale and fainted
he blamed it on his dieting
he said he did not eat breakfast
that morning

when his eyes turned red at noon
he said he got sore eyes
and blamed the knob of the
door for the infection

and on the night when he locked
his room he said he wanted to
sleep early as he lacked sleep
writing his poems

he drank poison a la socrates
and when he died
the froth on his mouth looked like
the bloom of a
while million flower

he did not tell the truth
that his wife left him with another man

The Gazelle

Among Solomon's first love commands in the book of his Song of Songs,

He adjures the young maidens by the gazelle, and how charm makes them strong.

For the gazelle is a gorgeous creature with beauty and unequalled grace.

She moves with elan and fleetness of foot, darting here and there leaving no trace.

Her sensuous body, caressed by the gentle breeze, trots about almost unseen,

Making the wildflower to blush and the envious grasses to turn a vivid green.

Eyes sparkling, she darts lightly about the meadow with all of her senses alert.

Seeming to be rolling and gliding, she can disappear and reappear in a spurt.

In the beauty of the length of savannah, she has no noticeable match.

Prancing from one thicket to the next, she stays too smart to catch.

Knowing well her environs, she blends with the hues of the scene.

By dieting lightly and steadily moving, she keeps her figure lovely and lean.

The photogenic bounty of every cameraman's trained eye,

Her graceful hurdles and jumps can literally touch the sky.

The beauty of her eyes are a legend, their sharpness is a must.

Such a marvel of lightness and grace, there are few that she can trust.

Throughout two of the largest continents, she has reigned as a goddess;

Yet being a figure of poise and glamor, she remains demure and modest.

Another New year, Another New Beginning?

Another new year!
Another new beginning?

Will we get this one right?
Will we have learned from the last one?
Will we treat our kids better?
Will they be healthier and better educated?
Will we be more prudent, save more money?
Will we even have a job?
Will we keep the one we have?
Are we gonna stop smoking?
Are we gonna start dieting?
Are we gonna start exercising?
Are we gonna stop watching so much TV?
Are we gonna walk more and stop so much driving?
Will we help someone who has less?
Will we be thankful for what we have?
Will we renounce war?
Will we live a little longer?
Will we want to?
Are we gonna venerate our elderly?
Are we gonna respect others?
Are we gonna forget about someone’s color?
Are we gonna be friendly?
Will we give hugs whenever we can?
Will we read more?
Will we try to learn something new?
Will we vote this year?
Will we act as Christians even if we’re not religious?
Will we try to buy American made products?

Are we and Will we
There’s a lot more I’m sure you could add
Will you, or are you going to be doing any of these this year?
They’re all desirable, most require little money or effort.
They’re truly things that you can do…for you and for others.

Another new year!
Another new beginning?

Patisserie

'Caramel slice please and
coconut cookie with
takeaway mocha and
I'll try chai latte..er..
make them both skinnies, we're
meant to be dieting'.

Conical croquenbouche
passes majestically
drawing appreciative
sighs for it's artistry.

Senior regulars
meeting for coffee say
'You make them Diane, you
know how we like them and
Bet has a muffin and
Dot wants a lamington'.

Rubenesque customer
seeks my complicity
'Doctor says I shouldn't
have this', she smiles at me
'Oh dear um...does he? ', I
say sympathetically.

Gentleman frowning at
cakes asks perplexedly
'What's the consistancy
of this confectionary? '
'Chocolate and raspberry
mousse horizontally
layered with spongecake'. He
pauses 'hmm...Not for me'.

'Which has least calories? '
questions a lady. 'Um...
strawberry flan if you
just eat the strawberries'.

Saturday serving, I'm
put through my paces with
new and familiar
faces, time races 'till
soon we'll be closing and
I feel alright because
I'm going Viennese
waltzing tonight!

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Tales Of A Wayside Inn : Part 3. The Sicilian's Tale; The Monk of Casal-Maggiore

Once on a time, some centuries ago,
In the hot sunshine two Franciscan friars
Wended their weary way, with footsteps slow
Back to their convent, whose white walls and spires
Gleamed on the hillside like a patch of snow;
Covered with dust they were, and torn by briers,
And bore like sumpter-mules upon their backs
The badge of poverty, their beggar's sacks.

The first was Brother Anthony, a spare
And silent man, with pallid cheeks and thin,
Much given to vigils, penance, fasting, prayer,
Solemn and gray, and worn with discipline,
As if his body but white ashes were,
Heaped on the living coals that glowed within;
A simple monk, like many of his day,
Whose instinct was to listen and obey.

A different man was Brother Timothy,
Of larger mould and of a coarser paste;
A rubicund and stalwart monk was he,
Broad in the shoulders, broader in the waist,
Who often filled the dull refectory
With noise by which the convent was disgraced,
But to the mass-book gave but little heed,
By reason he had never learned to read.

Now, as they passed the outskirts of a wood,
They saw, with mingled pleasure and surprise,
Fast tethered to a tree an ass, that stood
Lazily winking his large, limpid eyes.
The farmer Gilbert of that neighborhood
His owner was, who, looking for supplies
Of fagots, deeper in the wood had strayed,
Leaving his beast to ponder in the shade.

As soon as Brother Timothy espied
The patient animal, he said: 'Good-lack!
Thus for our needs doth Providence provide;
We'll lay our wallets on the creature's back.'
This being done, he leisurely untied
From head and neck the halter of the jack,
And put it round his own, and to the tree
Stood tethered fast as if the ass were he.

And, bursting forth into a merry laugh,
He cried to Brother Anthony: 'Away!
And drive the ass before you with your staff;
And when you reach the convent you may say
You left me at a farm, half tired and half

Remember the Time (Life Poem)

Remember when you were small and the world was tall
Summers were golden bright but TV was black and white
Ice cream simplicity came in lickable white vanilla bliss
You walked to school and played carefree in the street.

Remember when the 60’s happened to someone else
Stones and stoned manifestation of bad and desirable
Fast food and rock and roll and blonde haired first love
Cool long-haired sexy virginal vamps in bellbottoms.

Remember when a careless night was month of fear
Condomless heavy guilt and celibacy petting promises
Student rebellion in late night political parties
Naïve realization of youth slipping into maturity.

Remember when everyone was poor and grey
Housekeeping was a budgetary skill now unknown
Pub with friend with £5 for two everlasting beers
Mortgaged miserable and manacled in poverty trap.

Remember when the good times started to roll
Mercs and perks and money for nothing
Deprived without ten vacations per year
Belt tightening economies now a dieting desire.

Remember lets you touch time again.

Collected Verses On Touring

1 Short planning, sudden planning
Too long planning
Ever planned touring is soul-blest

2 Cash planned, conveyance planned
Conforts all well planned
Touring yet a failure without co-tourers

3 Grouped are children and old people
Bothered are the middle people
Too bothering yet I'd say 'middle'only

4 Sickening is falling sick
More sickening is touring with the sick
Medicines and additions are precautionary

5 Quarrelsome 'porters' means heavy luggage
Happy touring means 'cut-short-baggage'
Indispensable necessaries only ever preferable

6 Sensible is to have time-sense
Delaying anything is nonsense
Timely sense is a tour's essence

7 Dieting very cautious doesn't mean fasting
Dining all full doesn't mean feasting
Part of well judged tour is food-balancing

8 Noted places visited and noted
Noted notes in the memory noted
Pleasure is touring along the memoir
