I always wondered why somebody doesn't do something about that. Then I realized I was somebody.

Before Action

We always had to do our work at night.
I wondered why we had to be so sly.
I wondered why we couldn't have our fight
Under the open sky.

I wondered why I always felt so cold.
I wondered why the orders seemed so slow,
So slow to come, so whisperingly told,
So whisperingly low.

I wondered if my packing-straps were tight,
And wondered why I wondered……Sound
went wild………
and order came…… I ran into the night,
wondering why I smiled.

Finding Oneself......... [EXTREMELY LONG; Growing Up; Relationships; Humor

Part One

When Bri was 13 and in grade 8,
he noticed classmates beginning to date.
At school (other) boys got their way with the girls with a kiss.
But Bri didn't have the urge; he thought 'what's this? '
He decided he should give it a try,
but each time he tried, the girl would cry.
Not only would she cry; she would run away and hide.
Bri felt between himself and the other boys a great divide.

Back home after school he'd seclude himself in his room and cry.
Through his mind was repeated the question 'why? ' 'Why DO they cry? Why? '

Bri was a straight A+ student with no flubs.
He played football but (except for 'Cooking') he joined not clubs.

After a few months Bri gave up (on girls) . He had NO close friends to set him right;
his parents should have known the problem, but they weren't bright.

In high school he took AP courses, and took 3 courses at a nearby college.
He ignored girls and sports and concentrated on gaining knowledge.

He got a full scholarship to Harvard, but his advisor looked at him funny.
By age 26 he had his PhD in psychology and started making money.
But he still asked 'why? '
It still bothered him and at times he'd cry.

Then waking up one day from a dream, Bri suddenly asked himself 'were they shy?
And if so, why with ME and not the other boys? Why DID they cry? '
The answer could be that his brain and looks were superior.
Were those girls only uncomfortable with boys that were inferior (to him) ?
If that really was the answer, he could now save face,
and could pursue women with HIS high level of brains, looks, and grace.
(But WAS it the answer? He was still not SURE why they did cry.)
For now he would work hard, avoid girls, and try to keep his eyes dry.
In two more years would be a second high school reunion. Thoughts of attending gave Bri a fright. (He'd skipped the first,5 year, reunion.)
But by going this time he might find out if his answer to his 'why? ' was right.

PART TWO

For two more years he waited anxiously for invitation he was dreading.
At times he'd awaken at night from a 'reunion dream', profusely sweating.
Finally it arrived in mail; it would be in June, before it got TOO warm.
He kept his calendar free for the whole month, doubting, at work, he could perform.
He got out the yearbooks his Mom had bought, and he studied each girl's name.
Would he have the nerve to ask them 'why? ' ….OR would he be too scared and lame?

He lived on sedatives for a week. He picked his favorite tie, and a light grey business suit.
Would he find out if the girls had just been shy, or would they give him 'the boot'?

I Saw The Light

(wally bryson/eric carmen)
Good friends
Book ends
Solitaire for two
Till she was leaving
I never really knew
When I looked in her eyes
I saw the light
I realized all along it was her
When I looked in her eyes
I saw the light
I realized
Theres a knock on the door
Then youre home forever more
And now that youre here
There is nothing to fear
When I looked in her eyes
I saw the light
I realized all along it was her
When I looked in her eyes
I saw the light
I realized all along it was her.
When I looked in her eyes
I saw the light
I realized all along it was her

How I Feel About You Now

I just realized
How I feel about you now
I love you and want to be with you forever
Please baby give me a second chance
I wish I can take back that day
I was dumb for letting you down
I'm so sorry
I can't go another day without you
I can't take it anymore with us not being together

I just realized
How I feel about you now
I love you and need you here by myside
Please don't walk away and move on
I was wrong about you
Great things could happen
Nobody gets me like you do
I feel so stupid
There is not going be another great guy like you
There is a mountain between us, we can over come our fear and be together

I just realized
How I feel about you now
I love you, want you and noone else
I bet is take another chance to make it happen
So don't let all good times that won't happen come true
We be happy and
All our wishes and dream will come true
There is no need to move on because
You're the one
You're everything that I ever want

I just realized
How I feel about you now
I love you and want you here with me
When I'm sad
You're the one
Who can make me laugh and smile again
At end I feel much better all because of you
Baby you are only one who understand me
There is nothing you can do to make me not love you anymore
I'm always going be right by your side to the end

I just realized
How I feel about you now
I love you and want to be with you forever
Please baby give me a second chance
I wish I can take back that day
I was dumb for letting you down
I'm so sorry

What I've Realize

Baby, what I've realize, i hope I haven't realized it to late
for I have realized how much i love you
Baby, I've realized, I would be lost without you
I've realized you are my everything
I've realized how precious you are to me
You and the kids are my priority

I will never jeopardize my family ever again
I wish you could see, see inside me
baby, I am being truthful, I wish you could see
see inside me

I've seen how much my deceitfulness have hurt you
I swear, my soul aches, I am in pain
for every time you look at me, you look at me
with an empty stare, perhaps its hate

Baby, i wish you could see inside, inside of me
My heart is full of pain because all this time
I thought you didn't care about me
and I didn't consider you, your feelings, or our family

Baby, oh Baby,
I wish you could see, see inside me
for I really am sorry and I will never hurt you again.

Baby please, give us a chance
if you looked inside me and let go of
the brick wall you would see clearly
see clearly that I love you
and you would see how I am hurting
for hurting you and our kids.

Quiet Kind

I've never really written a poem
no reason to
But today feels like a day for words
the quiet kind
I wondered if i should tell
you know, about me
what i think
i thought about the
snow, and the night when
we were forever
i wondered if you knew
if you saw right through me
if i was a mystery
or if you never even looked
i thought about what comes next
i wondered if you wondered
if there was something
more
or if we just turned to
dust
and nothing is left
but you
but me
i thought about you today.

Bird Flew By

Bird flew by
And wondered, wondered why
She was white
And ought to stay up in the sky
From the air she could wonder
For the reason
Whats the point of a year
Or a season
Your life flies away
As the night turns to day
If you start once to think
Your hair will soon turn grey
But one would like to wonder
For the reason
Whats the point of a year
Or a season
The list of fallen stars
And crumbled, broken hearts
Comes from a need
To play so many parts
But one would like to wonder
For the reason
Whats the point of a year
Or a season
The wind and the rain
Shook hands again
Untouched by the world
They managed to keep sane
They were able to wonder
For the reason
Whats the point of a year
Or a season
Bird flew by
And wondered, wondered why
She was white
And ought to stay up in the sky
From the air she could wonder
For the reason
Whats the point of a year
Or a season

I Didnt Ask & She Didnt Say

Fogged in in dallas on my way to l.a.
Staring up at the screen , all flights were delayed
When a voice behinde me asked
Stranger how have you been?
I was caught off guard when I saw her face
Stumbled my way through an awkward embrace
Yet somehow I managed to say good to see you again
We caught up on old friends
Caught up on old times
But all through the small talk, it kept burning through my mind
Does she think about the nights we spent on crystal lake
Wrapped up in a blaket til the break of day
So many times I wondered does she think of me that way
I didnt ask and she didnt say
Trading stories and pictures of kids
Things were gonna do and things never did
til we were stranded in that moment not sure what to say
Then she broke the silence with her little shy smile
And she brought up the weather but all the while
I wondered if she thinks about jackson hole
Nights beside the fire and angels in the snow
So many times Ive wondered does she think of me that way
I didnt ask and she didnt say
We said our goodbyes, swore wed stay in touch
Then we went our separate ways knowing, knowing no one ever does
But I couldnt help but wonder as I walked
If thinks had turned out different where would we be today
So many times ive wondered does she think of me that way
I didnt ask and she didnt say
No, I didnt ask and she didnt say

The Book of Annandale

I

Partly to think, more to be left alone,
George Annandale said something to his friends—
A word or two, brusque, but yet smoothed enough
To suit their funeral gaze—and went upstairs;
And there, in the one room that he could call
His own, he found a sort of meaningless
Annoyance in the mute familiar things
That filled it; for the grate’s monotonous gleam
Was not the gleam that he had known before,
The books were not the books that used to be,
The place was not the place. There was a lack
Of something; and the certitude of death
Itself, as with a furtive questioning,
Hovered, and he could not yet understand.
He knew that she was gone—there was no need
Of any argued proof to tell him that,
For they had buried her that afternoon,
Under the leaves and snow; and still there was
A doubt, a pitiless doubt, a plunging doubt,
That struck him, and upstartled when it struck,
The vision, the old thought in him. There was
A lack, and one that wrenched him; but it was
Not that—not that. There was a present sense
Of something indeterminably near—
The soul-clutch of a prescient emptiness
That would not be foreboding. And if not,
What then?—or was it anything at all?
Yes, it was something—it was everything—
But what was everything? or anything?
Tired of time, bewildered, he sat down;
But in his chair he kept on wondering
That he should feel so desolately strange
And yet—for all he knew that he had lost
More of the world than most men ever win—
So curiously calm. And he was left
Unanswered and unsatisfied: there came
No clearer meaning to him than had come
Before; the old abstraction was the best
That he could find, the farthest he could go;
To that was no beginning and no end—
No end that he could reach. So he must learn
To live the surest and the largest life
Attainable in him, would he divine
The meaning of the dream and of the words
That he had written, without knowing why,
On sheets that he had bound up like a book
And covered with red leather. There it was
There in his desk, the record he had made,

A Long Time Ago

Sitting here , all alone
Wondering what to do
Life went faster than the time
I had to achieve the things I had in mind
Their disguise , I see with my eyes
Many things I should have realized
A long time ago , long long time ago
Never changing , ever aging
It drags from day to day
I wish that I had found myself
Before it robbed me of the time
Oh no , oh no
I should have realized
A long long time ago
A long time ago
A long time ago
(break)
Seeing things , open doors
People invited me into
Oh they were so good to me
And always helped me on my way
Then I woke from this dream
Known that I should have realized
A long time ago
Long long time ago
Another day , another way
I dont care what people say
No , I realize that theres no other way for me
Suppose Ill just have to live from day to day
Oh no , oh no
I should have realized
A long long time ago
A long time ago
A long time ago

To Be A Lover

Have I told you
Lately that I love you
If I dint, darlin,
You see, Im so sorry
Didnt I reach out
And hold you
In these lovin arms
Well, if I didnt, oh baby.
Well, Im so sorry
When I realized that you need love too,
Gonna spend my life makin love to you.
Got to be a lover.
Have mercy.
Forgot to be a lover, babe. (have mercy)
Forgot to be a lover. (have mercy)
Forgot to be a lover.
Make it on through to you somehow. (have mercy, baby)
Got to be a lover, babe. (forgot to be a lover)
Woo! woo!
Well, did I ask you,
Yes, would you come and share,
Oh, share,
Oh, the burden and the task
Thats at loves command
Didnt I say
All those lovin special things
That you long to hear
To show how much I care
Well, when I realize
That you need love too,
Gonna spend my life
Makin love to you
Forgot to be a lover,
Have mercy
Well, well I worked all day
Hard as I can
Worked all night, didnt make me a man.
(forgot to be a lover)
Have mercy, oo,
When I realized
That you need love too,
Gonna spend my life
Makin love to you. (forgot to be a lover)
Got to be a lover, babe.
Oo, mercy. (have mercy)
Have mercy, baby. (have mercy, baby)

Now It's My Turn

You've convinced me to deny who I am
Told me that I couldn't do it
When I figured out that I could you threw me into a pit
Of self pity and self insult, fed me your lies that my talent wasn't there
When I realized the truth that it was all you did was scare
Me into believing that my talent was destructive
Told me I could have self control
Told me I couldn't use this gift to console
But now I finally see through your lies I've seen through them

You were scared, full of fear
You were scared to the point of a dripping tear
You were scared I'd realize my calling
You were scared I'd revoke the statements of mundane
you were scared I'd actually sing
You were scared, and insane

I never once thought that all of these lies were from you
I never thought you spoke to me too
But now it's my turn
The gift you were so scared of here it is
Look now it's His
The gift that I did once spurn
I'll use to destroy your principalities
This is my secondary weapon to fight your powers
I'll draw my inspiration from my sword
I'll holster my regret and low self esteem
You can't tie up with them anymore
I don't believe I'm something to abhor
Now that I see I'm loved you can't tell me who I am
Because it doesn't matter, not because what you say is empty
No, that was me
It doesn't matter because it's not about who I am
It's about who I serve

Send your demons, send your temptations, maybe I'll even fail
Maybe I'll regret these statements, maybe even weep and wail
But it's too late, you can't put me back on your curve
I won't stray from the straight and narrow
This is the path I've chosen to follow
Now you can't touch me
Now you can't touch my poetry
Now I've realized my gift, even if just part, I've realized that part
I've realized why I have all these desires in my deepest heart

So now it's my turn, you used my gift to beat me down
Talked me into misusing it or not using it all
Well now it's your turn
Taste my sword, it's different than my peers
Taste my sword it can lead many

Under Pressures

Stuck under pressures...
I have learned,
I should...
Release.

And under pressures...
I have learned,
I must...
See ceased.

I finally realized,
I was my own...
Enemy.

I finally realized,
This was not meant to be!
Not for me.

And off my back they've been dumped.
Right off my back they've been dumped.
Off my back they've been dumped.
Right off my back they've been dumped.

Stuck under pressures...
I have learned,
I should...
Release.

And under pressures...
I have learned,
I must...
See ceased.

I finally realized,
I was my own...
Enemy.
Those demons had to be freed.

And off my back they've been dumped.
Right off my back they've been dumped.
And off my back they've been dumped.
Right off my back they've been dumped.

Too December.......

I'm so glad you made time to see me
How's life? Tell me, how's your family?
I haven't seen them in a while
You've been good, busier than ever
We small talk, work and the weather
Your guard is up, and I know why
Because the last time you saw me
Is still burned in the back of your mind
You gave me roses, and I left them there to
die
So this is me swallowing my pride
Standing in front of you, saying I'm sorry
for that night
And I go back to December all the time
It turns out freedom ain't nothing but
missing you
Wishing I'd realized what I had when you
were mine
I go back to December, turn around and
make it alright
I go back to December all the time
These days, I haven't been sleeping
Staying up, playing back myself leaving
When your birthday passed, and I didn't
call
Then I think about summer, all the
beautiful times
I watched you laughing from the passenger
side
And realized I loved you in the fall
And then the cold came, the dark days
When fear crept into my mind
You gave me all your love, and all I gave
you was goodbye
So this is me swallowing my pride
Standing in front of you, saying I'm sorry
for that night
And I go back to December all the time
It turns out freedom ain't nothing but
missing you
Wishing I'd realized what I had when you
were mine
I go back to December, turn around and
change my own mind
I go back to December all the time
I miss your tan skin, your sweet smile
So good to me, so right
And how you held me in your arms that
September night
The first time you ever saw me cry

Here today&Gone tomorrow

As i look at my surrounding's,
I realized i could be here today and gone tomorrow,
My mom's said to live my life and enjoy it,
Because i could be here today and gone tomorrow,
I always thought that life was a fairytale & i would always be a princess,
But i didn't realize i could be here today & gone tomorrow,
People always say the world would end in 2012,
But the world could be here today & gone tomorrow,
As i continued to walk down the streets & look at my surrounding's,
I realized that i'm no longer on earth,
I realized this pathway instantly when the gates appeared,
I realized that i was there yesterday but gone today,
No more suffering
No more pain
I'm gone today

Love Fought Back

Love fought back my depression
I thought love was not aggressive
But here it is fighting back
While i sit here and enjoy a snack?
I think naught I'm strong enough for this
I will keep things from going amiss
Goodbye depression, Love is stronger than you
Sorry Mr. T but i don't pity this foo
The foo is depression dark and mindless
It can barely fight back its become spineless!
See for the last couple months I've been
Depressed committing every sin
I realize now i was just a fool
My mind simply using em as a tool
But as i sat here ever day
Writing my poems in my own special way
Because i had realized love and love had ruined me
It pushed me to the point I wasn't who i was supposed to be
So everyday i wrote my poems
Wondering if any of them would become known
for they were dark and moody and raw fear
Then i realized something i hold dear
I thought and i thought and it was strong enough
I realized then how Love was tough
See love had ruined me, Made me empty
Then i realized why not live for love let it grow stronger every day, for i had plenty
So i thought i will live for love i will fight for it everyday it will become my best
And as for depression? just forget the rest
Remember me as the one who fought
Remember me as the one who brought
love into my life and conquered my own depression
With this poem i offer my own digression
And want to be known as the on who has conquered his fear
A feat not that mighty here
But to me it is great for i am one so weak
my love will continue growing until it has piqued
Then i will confess my love yet again like i did
But the love remains to the same person i bid
my feelings to before isn't that strange?
Or is it truly love which cannot be ranged
from 0-60 like a car
But must be nourished so that i may go far
And now i leave this poem happy
still thinking myself quite sappy(^_^)
Now that i know i live for love.....
may my swings spread and fly like a majestic dove

Time Turns

Music by 10,000 maniacs - lyrics by mary ramsey & john lombardo
I saw time turn
So much there to unlearn,
You were envy you wouldnt say
You tore heart strings that sorry day
Dark light hid the tears one
For each of the years
Love has reasons
Reason never knows
Time turns over
Love overflows
I should have spoken
Sooner on that sorry day
Your arms are open
And I wondered why
Wondered why
Five years passed to the day
Time heals some people
Say when you hurt the ones
I love youre also hurting
Me and time turns over
Turning you from me
I thought youd never reach me
On that sorry day
Your arms were open wide
And I wondered why
