The Poem That Comes From Hearing The Poem Of Another

The poem that comes from hearing the poem of another
And tries to ride on its rhythm
Like the sea on its own waves-

A forced music finding nowhere in itself a music of its own
Because all the poems are melodies made light by more light
As all the poems are dreams made dreamlike by more dreaming-

And we in our poetic fervor hearing that lyric sound
Go round and round again and again
As if we were the music of the stars
When the universe empirically spherical –

But now in this more deeply instrumented time,
When what we see with our eyes is always less than what we measure
Time and Time again tells us that Space and Space again tell us
That all we are in this long distance darkness
Is one small point of light which in its own sad way will fade out before its music endures-

For the stars have only our imagined music
and not more than the light
of their own violent dying –

So here having heard the poem of another
And open to my own inner voice,
I cry and cry again for another sky and another music
That only God Who is Beyond these earthly hapless sounds
Can Dream and Feel and Know
In the Lyric Ending that justifies our home.

We Have Not Learned That Much From The Past

We have not learned that much from past history the men of power repeat the same mistake
By threatening war on the Iraqi people for in war there's death and suffering and heartbreak
And in war there's never happiness and laughter the bomber jets they dropp death from the sky
Why to kill or capture the Iraqi leader will so many innocents have to suffer and die? .

I wonder when I hear talk of 'A Just War' since any war it never has been just
And war gives rise to vengeance and to hatred and between peoples build the barriers of mistrust,
Who ever coined that phrase was far from clever though many of those words have taken note
And too many far too many silly people that awful saying are too inclined to quote.

We have not learned much from man's past history if we have learned anything at all
The innocents of Baghdad and Basra will suffer when the big bombs from the night sky will fall
For bombs don't always hit their designated targets and for war mistakes it's the innocents who pay
With their lives or the most horrific injuries and the scars of war till death with them will stay.

We have not learned much from the mistakes of our forefathers for talk of war we hear now every day
And only on the day of the Election do the people ever seem to have a say
And the hawkish leaders who see war as okay from the path that leads to war cannot be cowed
They never seem to listen to their people though the voice of protest in their ears ring loud.

Wherever Greatness Comes From

Wherever Greatness comes from
Take it as it is –
Try to forget that sometimes there is an evil soul behind it-

Try to forget
As I cannot forget
As I do not forget
As I will not forget

Oh Beauty is Great
And the Sublime a Wonder of this world
But Evil hurts too much
And Cruelty Unforgivable-

You take the Evil geniuses and worship them
I will never worship anyone or anything but G-d.

Until Something Loved Comes Along

One loves what is done.
Another enjoys what is done.
And a third likes what is done.
Which one does what is done,
Because there is nothing else to do?

'I would say it is the one who loves what is done!
Since what is done is all that one wishes to do.'

What about the one that likes what is done?

'That one neither loves or enjoys it.
It is just something to do,
Until something loved comes along...
That can be enjoyed! '

It does seem that those who love what is done,
Have little time for anything else to do!

Happiness comes from within.

You tried to wander across in shopping malls
Finding books across book stalls
Watching movies in cinema halls
No matter what you do, your conscience crawls

You tried a Europe tour
To find 'happiness' in that endeavour
Rome, Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin
Only posing in pictures with a grin

You stop and you ponder
Take a break, from routine you sunder
Inside yourself you find a cause
Produce happiness in your own warehouse

Now people read your face
Talk about your grace.
They describe the glow on your skin
You know why? because happiness comes from within.

Love Comes From The Other Side

When things get bad at home, you dont feel like being alone,
And you find yourself inclined to look around.
For the feelings we once shared are just no longer there,
And love comes from the other side of town.
(chorus)
Where love means just an hour with your stand in,
And not an empty house where love just has been.
Since everything weve built with love was not on solid ground,
Now love comes from the other side of town.
The life Im livin now just dont seem right somehow,
But its the best way to get by that Ive found.
Theres no love left at home, were both just hangin on,
And love comes from the other side of town.
(chorus)
Love comes from the other side of town.

The Gardener XXVI: What Comes From Your Willing Hands

"What comes from your willing
hands I take. I beg for nothing
more."
"Yes, yes, I know you, modest
mendicant, you ask for all that one
has."
"If there be a stray flower for me
I will wear it in my heart."
"But if there be thorns?"
"I will endure them."
"Yes, yes, I know you, modest
mendicant, you ask for all that one
has."
"If but once you should raise your
loving eyes to my face it would make
my life sweet beyond death."
"But if there be only cruel
glances?"
"I will keep them piercing my
heart."
"Yes, yes, I know you, modest
mendicant, you ask for all that one
has."

Love Comes From The Other Side Of Town

(Fred J. Freiling)
When things get bad at home, you don't feel like being alone,
And you find yourself inclined to look around.
For the feelings we once shared are just no longer there,
And love comes from the other side of town.
Where love means just an hour with your stand in,
And not an empty house where love just has been.
Since everything we've built with love was not on solid ground,
Now love comes from the other side of town.
The life I'm livin' now just don't seem right somehow,
But it's the best way to get by that I've found.
There's no love left at home, we're both just hangin' on,
And love comes from the other side of town.
Where love means just an hour with your stand in,
And not an empty house where love just has been.
Since everything we've built with love was not on solid ground,
Now love comes from the other side of town.
Love comes from the other side of town

Love Comes From God

Love comes to us from God
The day we was born until the end
We all need love, we want love
We have to have love

Look at the new born baby
How the mother looks at it
See the tears that flow
She forgot the pain

When she looked at the baby
For the first time
Look around at all the animals
How the mother or father
Protects their young at all costs

If we don't have love
Or grow up with parents
Who don't love us
We feel we are to blame

Are we are not good enough
We search for love in all the wrong places
We pick people we know are wrong for us
We find someone who at least pretends to love us

Sometimes we get with people who abuse us
We don't leave because we think we can't do it on our own
A child needs love to grow
To be a better person

To show love and respect
Without love we are lonely souls
Always looking wondering if we will ever find
Someone to love us

Then sometimes we wonder
Am I worth it?
Do they really love me?
Do they really care?

We cry, plead, and bargain with God
If only you will send me someone
If we wait and do what God says
He will send us the right one

The one he wants us with
God got me writing poems
I never thought I would write poems
God is love

He will supply our every need
If we listen and do his will
If he takes care of the flowers and trees
The animals

Don't you think he will take care of us
Believe and you will see what love does
When it comes from God
He does send love.

He Comes From A Different Culture

He comes from a different culture the tall dark one with such a great smile
And he finds it so hard to settle here so far from the banks of the Nile
He cannot speak the English language the tongue of this Southern Land
And that he feels he is an outsider ought not be hard to understand.

Tall and lean he looks very athletic and like a runner quite light on his feet
But he is not known as a sportsman and he never was an athlete
A young man in his early twenties and so gentle in his own quiet way
He speaks just a few words of English and two of those words are 'good day'

War and famine ravage his Homeland and for him 'twas not a safe place
And he fled just like many others to live far from his clan and race
To smile to him comes rather easily and he seems untainted by guile
But in his dark eyes there's a longing for the distant banks of the Nile.

My sympathies with the poor fellow he seems such an honorable bloke
He came to this Country a pauper financially dependant and broke
From his tribe to a refugee camp and life for him downhill all of the way
One hopes for him a better future though in that he doesn't have a say.

In this City his life is so different nostalgia is such a strange thing
Amongst his tribe and his family he felt happy and good memories of the past to him cling
Back home everybody was special and here he's just one more refugee
To smile to him it may come easy but the sadness in his eyes one see.

He comes from a different culture and of this culture not much he knows
And here he must feel an outsider but one might say that's life I suppose
He is such an honorable fellow yet how sad his life for him must be
And life is not meant to be easy for any poor Stateless Refugee.

Monstrosities That I Observe Among Christians

I. It’s a monstrosity that some people believe

It’s a monstrosity that some people believe
that a deadly illness,
poverty, loss of a job and income
and every disaster that happens daily to people

results from their sin,
where people live outside the hand of God
and when I think about a one-year-old child
that is dying of cancer,

see how people that were wealthy
now is on the street,
it reminds me about Job,
while there is still trust and hope
in the biggest darkness.

II. That the eating of meat is sin

Some people believe
that according to the Bible it is sin
to eat meat
and so easily they forget

that the Bible says clearly
that some meat foods are clean,
that Jesus himself multiplied fishes and bread,
that shepherds caring for their flocks of sheep

were informed about the coming
of the Son of God
and still I wonder
why the shepherds had sheep?

III. That atheists originate from the teaching of some churches

That the doctrines of other churches
compel people to become atheists
as there teachings are free from all truth
and only true Christians

in that particular Christian faith are serving God,
as if God is not reaching out His hands
to all Christians
and every has do not have dedicated people

and then they hit on their breasts like the Pharisees
and say that they are elect children
of Abraham,
while they are really a brood of vipers

and the atheists that I know,
are people that struggle
to find God in science,
as if a person can bind Him
to figures and symbols.

IV. That the will of God is carried out

That the will of God
is carried out in every decision
that a church organization
or its representatives take

and when a minister requests you to do something
it comes from the mouth of God Himself
and if you are not able to or want to do it,
you are rebelling against God.

I have heard ministers
using prayers to force
their will upon people,
as if they are twisting
the arm of God
to turn things to their way.

To kiss my ass!

See you do 'something' constructive!

Is That Something You Notice?

How do I deal with another's envy?
I did not know that should be part of my focus.
Is that something you notice?
Perhaps you are the one,
They wish to provoke.
And you'd like to share,
That which I am not aware.

The Poem Comes From Somewhere Else

THE POEM COMES FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE

The poem comes from somewhere else-
From behind my mind,
The black the darkness.
Through the eyes,
The green the morning light.
The poem comes from somewhere else-
Beyond I-
God High God Nigh.

When a Breeze That Is Peaceful Comes

I enjoy my privacy immensely.
It's like an unexpected calm that comes,
After experiencing a series of Earthquakes.

The first one startles.
The one that follows that...
One's life adapts!

But when a breeze that is peaceful,
Comes to one's life to visit...
It is easy to want it to selfishly linger.

It Is In The Doing Of The Thing That The Blessing Comes

It is in the doing of the thing that the blessing comes
I am writing this now as if it were a gift
So much we do in life is like this
We can't and we can't
And we wait and we hesitate
And we are guilty and powerless
But once we have begun
And once we are moving in it
We flow through work as if it were
Own inner rhapsody.

We Are Voices Sounding What Comes From Somewhere Else

WE ARE VOICES SOUNDING WHAT COMES FROM SOMEWHERE ELSE

We are voices sounding what comes from somewhere else-
Nothing is ours
Even the silences do not belong to us-
God alone writes the true poems.
God Alone.
What are we?
The empty spaces through which resound the meanings of God’s universe-
God Alone
And not us for anything nohow no way-
God Alone.

No One Can Know Where A Poem Comes From

NO ONE CAN KNOW WHERE A POEM COMES FROM
(After reading an essay by Rabbi Jonathan Sacks)

No one can know where a poem comes from
But like all we do in some deep and true way
Behind us there is a hint of God’s help
And this help is what sustains us
And makes us know
We are not forever alone
But always with us
The guardian angel
The single voice
The Great and Good
Loving God.
