We Are Glass

We are young we can break
Watch us fall
We can take some train
Down to the sea
We are glass, we are glass
We are real you can touch
Just for now
And then say
hey you, which way is down
We are glass, we are glass
We are strong we run though
We have time
And to you Im just
One of those boys
We are glass, we are glass
We are cold
Were not supposed to cry
But its all just a thought
So here am i
We are glass, we are glass
They run fast
Impressions of the floors inviting
Stay with me, stay with me
They run past
With telephones they scream
Well would you turn all this down
Turn all this down
You are replaced you are you
And our dreams are real
And dreams are all we need
We are glass, we are glass
We slip down
And old eyes dont cry for me
Cause I doubt Im and I doubt you
And never never going to doubt
We are glass, we are glass
They run fast
Impressions of the floors inviting
Stay with me, stay with me
They run past
With telephones they scream
Well would you turn all this down
Turn all this down

Darker Days

Take me to the highway
Take me to heaven
I can feel jesus, right in my bones
Looking for a high class up-market doorway
With no connections, no telephones
And I dont care what its all about
I dont need to know
Walking on water
Walking on the mountain
Ive got no whiskey running through my veins
They take me to the justice
And I wave old glory
Theres no sentence for all these pains
Cause I dont care what its all about
I dont need to know
*
Darker days surround me now Im older
Longer nights freeze me it seems colder
Darker days they will take me under now
So help me please
Take me to the river, cleanse me with water
Because the good lord has baptized me
I cant live like you good people
Ill bare my soul for the world to see
I dont care what its all about
I dont need to know
Darker days surround me now Im older
Longer nights freeze me it seems colder
Darker days they will take me under now
I dont think so
I dont know so
I keep falling down like little drops of rain
I dont know you
Tell me whats true
What is real, and what it is you call insane
Take me to the highway
Take me to heaven
I can feel jesus, right in my bones
Looking for a high class up-market doorway
With no connections, no telephones
And I dont care what its all about
I dont need to know
Repeat *
Oh yeah
Gotta help me please

Busy Lives

When someone says 'do telephone', she telephones
When someone says 'please write', she always writes
When someone says 'pop by', she excitedly replies
that she will, and what is more, she always does.

But the world is perverse in its behaviour
and most people find her eagerness quite strange.
When she telephones or writes or dares to visit;
they're most put out or dare I say, enraged!

She ponders on her life and their behaviour
she feels so very lonely and so sad.
She popped in yesterday to see a neighbour.
They said, in callous tones, 'go get a life'.

They chat amongst themselves and they condemn her.
They say, 'Well you know her, she's not quite right',
but in their hearts, they know, of course, they've failed her,
their excuse is that they lead such busy lives.

St. Louis was dying

St. Louis was dying
Under the weight of
Lost telephones
Thrown away by
The deaf hands of
My computer speakers

The keyboard misspelled
The noon day sun
When St. Louis was dying
Under stress of crime
Thrown into the furnace fire
Where an angel was born
To save the weigh of
Telephone wires strung
Down the dirty and dingy
Alley in the back yard of
A renovated heaven

The key board of the noon day sun
Was dying under the weigh
Of a deaf tongue moved
By the speakers speaking
In a foreign language
Only understood by telephones
In the long distend night of long tongues

St. Louis is dying
Under the weigh of
Ten cent poverty
In a ten dollar year where
The furnace is stressing
Out on crime committed
In the noon day weigh
Of heaven’s back yard
Where an angel uses
The dark and dingy telephone
To call the long distend night

Heaven is dying under the weigh of
Misspelled angels dark and dingy
And lost in t he light of my computer
Where the thrown away weigh of
Poverty is spending counterfeit
Dollars worth ten cent crimes
Dying in the heaven of
The weigh of angels
Misspelling the word tongue.

Telephones are a virtual necessity - not a luxury - and the revenues collected by this tax flow into the general fund. But this once temporary tax remains and costs American taxpayers, our small businesses and families almost $6 billion dollars a year.

Happy Holidays

Written by ronnie rogesrs & swain schaefer
Smilin faces on city streets, crowded shoppers, busy feet
And every smile just seems to say, were having some happy holidays
Twinklin lights on christmas trees, kids up on santas kneww
Busy lines on telephones, sending a merry christmas home
Bells ringing everywhere, season spirit in the air
Up and down the avenue, holiday dreams comin true
A choir singing songs of cheer, carols we all love to hear
Rudolph with his glowin nose, lovers under mistletoe
Postman bringin christmas cards, reindeer out in the yard
Frosty with his eyes of coal, present wrapped in pretty bows
Sidewalks full of happy eyes, flakes fallin from the sky
Boys and girls at the big parade to see st. nick up on his sleigh
The scene is set, its beautiful, sounds of peace, joy and love
From all of us wed like to say, have yourself some happy holidays

Five Years

Pushing through the market square
So many mothers sighing
News had just come over, we had five years left to cry in
News guy wept and told us, earth was really dying
Cried so much, his face was wet, then I knew, he was not lying
I heard telephones, opera house, favorite melodies
I saw boys, toys, electric irons and tvs
My brain hurt like a warehouse, it had no room to spare
I had to cram so many things to store, everything in there
And all the fat-skinny people, and all the tall-short people
And all the nobody people, and all the somebody people
I never thought Id need so many people
A girl of my age went off her head, hit some tiny children
If the black hadnt a-pulled her off, I think she would have killed them
A soldier with a broken arm
Fixed his stare to the wheels of a cadillac
A cop knelt and kissed the feet of a priest
And a queer threw up at the sight of that
I think I saw you in an icecream parlour
Drinking milkshakes cold and long
Smiling and waving and looking so fine
I dont think you knew you were in this song
And it was cold and it raind, so I felt like an actor
And I thought of ma and I wanted to get back there
Your face, your race, the way that you talk
I kiss you, youre beautiful, I want you to walk
Weve got five years, stuck on my eyes, weve got five years, what a surprise
Weve got five years, my brain hurts a lot, weve got five years, thats all weve got
Weve got five years...

Highway 61 Revisited

Oh God said to abraham, kill me a son
Abe says, man, you must be putting me on
God say, no. abe say, what?
God say, you can do what you want abe, but
The next time you see me comin you better run
Well abe says, where do you want this killing done?
God says, out on highway 61.
Well georgia sam he had a bloody nose
Welfare department they wouldnt give him no clothes
He asked poor howard where can I go
Howard said theres only one place I know
Sam said tell me quick man I got to run
Ol howard just pointed with his gun
And said that way down on highway 61.
Well mack the finger said to louie the king
I got forty red white and blue shoe strings
And a thousand telephones that dont ring
Do you know where I can get rid of these things
And louie the king said let me think for a minute son
And he said yes I think it can be easily done
Just take everything down to highway 61.
Now the fifth daughter on the twelfth night
Told the first father that things werent right
My complexion she said is much too white
He said come here and step into the light he says hmm youre right
Let me tell the second mother this has been done
But the second mother was with the seventh son
And they were both out on highway 61.
Now the rovin gambler he was very bored
He was tryin to create a next world war
He found a promoter who nearly fell off the floor
He said I never engaged in this kind of thing before
But yes I think it can be very easily done
Well just put some bleachers out in the sun
And have it on highway 61.

Cry Of A Burial

Petrol and diesel run faster
On two wheels and four wheels
Uproariously whirring and whirring and whirring
Dissonantly sounding and sounding and sounding
The road vibrates tremulously
So do I
Two leggeds spit
Four leggeds shit
The road is filthy
So feel I
And my temple road is doddering on to hell
So am I
They dig and dig and dig
On turns the electricity, telephones, drainage
Here, there, anywhere as they dare
The road is burried in itself
And it's crying.So am I from a pit
Help, help!

Discussions To Juice Up

We are never those personas perceived.
Never are we privately,
What the public believes us to be.
Especially those one use to know,
Some years ago in playgrounds...
Left so long ago.

Or are we that which is assumed as fact,
By the ones choosing to chit chat...
On their telephones while eating snacks,
And smacking on crap with peppered tongues...
In discussions to juice up, embellish and exaggerate,
To create what has never been there.

Rain,rain

Why am I here if youre there
So far away its not fair
To be without you like this
I miss you more than you know
The nights are long
The days slow
Without the warmth of your kiss
Wish you were back here with me
Cause out my window
All is see is
Rain , rain in the sky
Everywhere I look my eyes see
Rain , rain fallin down
Crying as it hits the ground
Rain , rain in my heart
Every day that were apart
Rain , rain
Falling rain , rain
Rain , rain
Only rain , rain
The sun is strong when youre near
But when youre gone it disappears
Behind an ocean of blue
The telephones not good enough
It cant reach out it cant touch
Me like the way you do
Wish you would knock at my door
Cause only you can stop the pouring
Rain , rain in the sky
Everywhere I look my eyes see
Rain , rain fallin down
Crying as it hits the ground
Rain , rain in my heart
Every day that were apart
Rain , rain
Falling rain , rain
Rain , rain
Only rain , rain
Maybe ill go outside
And walk beneath the clouds
Pretend its you thats watching over me
This isnt the only thing that comes
Between us now
Baby soon well be together
Oooo
( everywhere I look I see rain )
( everywhere I look I see rain )
Rain
( everywhere I look I see rain )
Everywhere I look I see rain

I'm In My Car

I'm in my car
I got my telephones and radio
This is my home
I have learnt to love and live
The only way I know
And I don't want to change a thing
This is my world you are sitting in
I got a fax so I press send
Send a message to my DJ
A message to my DJ
'Cos he's my best friend
I'm in my car
And I am happy here
Even though the fools will never know
I got peace in here
My private world and endless
Stop and go
And I don't want to change a thing
This is my world you are sitting in
I got a fax so I press send
Send a message to my DJ
A message to my DJ
'Cos he's my best friend
I'm in my car
Safe from my boss
Safe from all the gumbos
That I hate so much
Its not G.T.
Its not all about you think
That you may see
Oh it's not about what you think
You see
I'm safe from my family. ..
I'm safe
I'm safe
I'm in my car
I'm happy here
I'm in my car

Dont Go Down That Street

Dont go down that street
In those shoes that squeak
cause I get afraid that you might not come home
Careful how you speak
When youre on the street
cause theyve broken down all the telephones
Dont go down that street, no no no
Dont go down that street, no no no
Dont go down that street
Dont go down that street
Where the brave boys meet
cause Im chicken feed when theyre on their own
Dont get in that car
Things might go too far
(line in japanese)
Dont go down that street, no no no
Dont go down that street, no no no
Dont go down that street
(japanese talkover by miko)
(ooh, ooh, aaah, aah)
(japanese verse)

Fire Starters

Nestled in the thicket of a wickedness,
One choosing to pick their own battles...
Can not fight them alone.
And this makes them upset.
With a dialing on their telephones.

A recruiting with a pursuing of an empathy begins.
Eventually,
With redundancy...
Fire starters torch others to believe,
They've become victims of treacherous deeds.

If fire starters lie about one fire started
The need to investigate further,
When those same fire starters
Begin to holler about others,
Around them that burn
As they innocently watched.

Three Flights Up

On the first floor On the first floor
On the first floor there's a young girl reeling
Her body's numb and without feeling
As illusions dance on the midnight ceiling
Now she's falling, now she's kneeling
It's almost like she's bowed in prayer
A savior she's about to bear
She screams for help, but no one's there
On the first floor
On the first floor people walk the halls
But none can hear her desperate calls
There is no sound beyond the walls
So to the telephone she crawls
She telephones her only friend
The one on whom she can depend
But the phone rings on without an end
Then rings no moreOn the first floor
There's a party on the second floor
And through the picture window you can see them all
They're laughing and they're dancing
Admiring the Renoir that's hanging on the wall
But in the master bedroom where the coats are piled high
A silent, saddened lady thinks of what it's like to die
And as she dwells on all the years she still has left to face
She wonders how she'll ever find someone to take his place
Then suddenly she's jarred by the ringing of the phone
Oh, why do you ring now, just when I want to be alone?
So she walks into the bathroom and drinks some water from a cup
But the telephone stops ringing just before she picks it up
My family was very poor
So I worked hard to be secure
I married one I had to wed
And not the one I loved instead
When I was young my blood ran wild
But we stayed married for the child
Now three flights up, I'm all alone
My wife is dead, my child is grown
My daughter leads a wayward life
She's been a failure as a wife
And though she lives just one floor down
She never calls or comes around
Step off the platform and onto the train
Look out your window and into the rain
Watch all the buildings that pass as you ride
And count all the stories that go on inside
And then ask yourself if it must be this way
Should walls and doors and plaster ceilings
Separate us from each others' feelings?
