Once Lonely Now Mended

A lonely heart is not something new;
A lonely heart contains only blues.

A lonely heart grows until old;
A lonely heart never unfolds.

A lonely heart is ready for doom;
A lonely heart keeps the mood gloom.

A lonely heart will never heal;
A lonely heart is like a bad card deal.

A mended heart is like one of no other;
A mended heart can be noticed by a lover.

A mended heart won’t take anymore pain;
A mended heart will shine like a flame.

A mended heart pumps love with a flow;
A mended heart beats and never lets’ go.

A Man

I am a man as a man I've been told
Bacon is brought to the house in this mold
Born of your bellies I yearn for the cord
Years I have groveled repentance ignored

And I have been blamed
And I have repented
I'm working my way toward our union mended

I am man who has grown from a son
Been crucified by enraged women
I am son who was raised by such men
I'm often reminded of the fools I'm among

And I have been shamed
And I have relented
I'm working my way toward our union mended
And I have been shamed
And I have repented
I'm working my way toward our union mended

we don't fare well with endless reprimands
we don't do well with a life served as a sentence
this won't work well if you're hell bent on your offence
I am a man who understands your resistance

I am a man who still does what he can
to dispel our archaic reputation
I am a man who has heard all he can
cuz I don't fare well with endless punishment

Cuz I have been blamed and I have repented
I'm working my way toward our union mended
And we have been blamed and we have repented
I'm working my way toward our union mended

I Just Don't Have The Heart

Love had ended
Can't be mended
All along the line
I've been true to you
Even though for some time
I knew we were through
I was feeling
That love had ended
Can't be mended
But i can't bear to see you cry
The feeling's gone
It's been missing too long
But i just don't have the heart
I just don't have the heart to tell you
It's such a shame
That it's ended this way
But i just don't have the heart
I just don't have the heart to tell you
There'll be no goodbyes
There are no words to say
When you realise
That i'm far away
You'll be hurting
Like i've been hurting
The truth was burning
But i just can't say goodbye
The feeling's gone
It's been missing too long
But i just don't have the heart
I just don't have the heart to tell you
It's such a shame
That it's ended this way
But i just don't have the heart
I just don't have the heart to tell you
Ooh but i just don't have the heart
I just don't have the heart to tell you
If i stopped to think about
The good times that we shared
I could fool myself believing
That somehow love, love was still there
Ooh (love, love, love, love, love had ended)
(love, love, love, love, love had ended)
I was feeling
That love had ended
Can't be mended
But i can't bear to see you cry
(repeat chorus)

Your Racist Friend

This is where the party ends
I cant stand here listening to you
And your racist friend
I know politics bore you
But I feel like a hypocrite talking to you
And your racist friend
It was the loveliest party that Ive ever attended
If anything was broken Im sure it could be mended
My head cant tolerate this bobbing and pretending
Listen to some bullet-head and the madness that hes saying
This is where the party ends
Ill just sit here wondering how you
Can stand by your racist friend
I know politics bore you
But I feel like a hypocrite talking to you
You and your racist friend
This is where the party ends
I cant stand here listening to you
And your racist friend
I know politics bore you
But I feel like a hypocrite talking to you
And your racist friend
Out from the kitchen to the bedroom to the hallway
Your friend apologizes, he could see it my way
He let the contents of the bottle do the thinking
Cant shake the devils hand and say youre only kidding
This is where the party ends
I cant stand here listening to you
And your racist friend
I know politics bore you
But I feel like a hypocrite talking to you
And your racist friend
Notes
Most alternate versions are very similar. the farthest removed is the extended mix dial-a-song version:
This is where the party ends
I cant stand here wondering how you
Can stand by your racist friend
This is where the party ends
I cant stand here wondering how you
Can stand by your racist friend
It was the loveliest party
That Ive ever attended
If anything got broken
Im sure it could be mended
But my head cant stand this bobbin and pretendin
Tolerate some bullethead and the bullshit that hes sayin
This is where the party ends
I cant stand here listening to your
Your racist friend
This is where the party ends

It's Been...Too Long, A Wait For Me

If you want romance,
Is there still a chance...
You could slip away,
From your quick and grab it habits...
And be fully medicated.

If you want romance,
Is there still a chance...
You could slip away,
From your quick and grab it habits...
And be fully medicated.

It's been...
Too long,
A wait for me.

I feel I should grab to have it.

It's been...
Too long,
A wait for me.

I feel I should grab to have it.

If you want romance,
Is there still a chance...
You could slip away,
From your quick and grab it habits...
And be fully medicated.

It's been...
Too long a wait for me.

Do I stand a chance?

It's been...
Too long,
A wait from me.

Could there be romance,
To have our hearts continue dancing?

It's been...
Too long,
A wait for me.
And my heart is mended now,
With no sorrows that I borrow.
Or drag in to meet tomorrow.

It's been...

Parody Song

Parody Song for Lute and Harp

The cobbler who mended the princess´s shoes
Fell in love with her feet and declared his love.
But the princess was quite chocked, said…no.

Sad cobbler sat in his shop repairing waders,
Farmer clogs and polished officers riding boots
The cobbler who mended the princess´s shoes.

The princess had shoes to repair, sent a servant,
But the cobbler needed her feet to make a fit.
He fell in love with her feet and declared his love.

He mended her shoes touched her ankles to make
Sure the shoes fit and the princess´s was thrilled
Made him a courtier of her dainty ankles and feet.

A Hermit Thrush

Nothing's certain. Crossing, on this longest day,
the low-tide-uncovered isthmus, scrambling up
the scree-slope of what at high tide
will be again an island,

to where, a decade since well-being staked
the slender, unpremeditated claim that brings us
back, year after year, lugging the
makings of another picnic—

the cucumber sandwiches, the sea-air-sanctified
fig newtons—there's no knowing what the slamming
seas, the gales of yet another winter
may have done. Still there,

the gust-beleaguered single spruce tree,
the ant-thronged, root-snelled moss, grass
and clover tuffet underneath it,
edges frazzled raw

but, like our own prolonged attachment, holding.
Whatever moral lesson might commend itself,
there's no use drawing one,
there's nothing here

to seize on as exemplifying any so-called virtue
(holding on despite adversity, perhaps) or
any no-more-than-human tendency—
stubborn adherence, say,

to a wholly wrongheaded tenet. Though to
hold on in any case means taking less and less
for granted, some few things seem nearly
certain, as that the longest day

will come again, will seem to hold its breath,
the months-long exhalation of diminishment
again begin. Last night you woke me
for a look at Jupiter,

that vast cinder wheeled unblinking
in a bath of galaxies. Watching, we traveled
toward an apprehension all but impossible
to be held onto—

that no point is fixed, that there's no foothold
but roams untethered save by such snells,
such sailor's knots, such stays
and guy wires as are

Hudibras: Part 1 - Canto I

THE ARGUMENT

Sir Hudibras his passing worth,
The manner how he sallied forth;
His arms and equipage are shown;
His horse's virtues, and his own.
Th' adventure of the bear and fiddle
Is sung, but breaks off in the middle.

When civil dudgeon a first grew high,
And men fell out they knew not why?
When hard words, jealousies, and fears,
Set folks together by the ears,
And made them fight, like mad or drunk,
For Dame Religion, as for punk;
Whose honesty they all durst swear for,
Though not a man of them knew wherefore:
When Gospel-Trumpeter, surrounded
With long-ear'd rout, to battle sounded,
And pulpit, drum ecclesiastick,
Was beat with fist, instead of a stick;
Then did Sir Knight abandon dwelling,
And out he rode a colonelling.
A wight he was, whose very sight wou'd
Entitle him Mirror of Knighthood;
That never bent his stubborn knee
To any thing but Chivalry;
Nor put up blow, but that which laid
Right worshipful on shoulder-blade;
Chief of domestic knights and errant,
Either for cartel or for warrant;
Great on the bench, great in the saddle,
That could as well bind o'er, as swaddle;
Mighty he was at both of these,
And styl'd of war, as well as peace.
(So some rats, of amphibious nature,
Are either for the land or water).
But here our authors make a doubt
Whether he were more wise, or stout:
Some hold the one, and some the other;
But howsoe'er they make a pother,
The diff'rence was so small, his brain
Outweigh'd his rage but half a grain;
Which made some take him for a tool
That knaves do work with, call'd a fool,
And offer to lay wagers that
As MONTAIGNE, playing with his cat,
Complains she thought him but an ass,
Much more she wou'd Sir HUDIBRAS;

The Merchant Ship

The Sun o’er the waters was throwing
In the freshness of morning its beams;
And the breast of the ocean seemed glowing
With glittering silvery streams:
A bark in the distance was bounding
Away for the land on her lee;
And the boatswain’s shrill whistle resounding
Came over and over the sea.
The breezes blew fair and were guiding
Her swiftly along on her track,
And the billows successively passing,
Were lost in the distance aback.
The sailors seemed busy preparing
For anchor to drop ere the night;
The red rusted cables in fathoms
Were haul’d from their prisons to light.
Each rope and each brace was attended
By stout-hearted sons of the main,
Whose voices, in unison blended,
Sang many a merry-toned strain.
Forgotten their care and their sorrow,
If of such they had ever known aught,
Each soul was wrapped up in the morrow—
The morrow which greeted them not;
A sunshiny hope was inspiring
And filling their hearts with a glow
Like that on the billows around them,
Like the silvery ocean below.
As they looked on the haven before them,
Already high looming and near,
What else but a joy could invade them,
Or what could they feel but a cheer?

The eve on the waters was clouded,
And gloomy and dark grew the sky;
The ocean in blackness was shrouded,
And wails of a tempest flew by;
The bark o’er the billows high surging
’Mid showers of the foam-crested spray,
Now sinking, now slowly emerging,
Held onward her dangerous way.
The gale in the distance was veering
To a point that would drift her on land,
And fearfully he that was steering
Look’d round on the cliff-girdled strand.
He thought of the home now before him
And muttered sincerely a prayer
That morning might safely restore him
To friends and to kind faces there.

Saying This

'Two heads are better than one', they say,
As long as you both agree,
And 'Too many cooks can spoil the broth',
If they argue incessantly.

You can be as 'Cool as a cucumber',
Just because you're perfectly composed,
And after that you can 'Sleep like a top',
If you were motionless whilst you dozed.

'Tomorrow never comes', you know,
If you don't do what's needed today,
And 'Look before you leap', because,
In the end you may have to pay.

You can even get 'One's back up',
But try not to irritate,
And 'Cuckoo oats and woodcock hay',
Means that spring has come too late.

A 'Cat can look at a king', so see
That I am as good as you,
And I can be 'Betwixt and between',
Somewhere between the two.

One can also 'Beat about the bush',
Not coming straight to the matter in hand,
And I too can 'Fall upon my feet',
As long as I softly land.

'Least said the soonest mended',
Can only make things worse,
And if you buy a 'Pig in a poke',
You'll end up with an empty purse.

So if I say 'Sew the button on',
Then write down what you need to remember,
And lastly, if you were to 'Hold the fort',
You would become a great defender.

Least said soonest mended

Least said soonest mended

I am condemned to wonder why
I cannot make an apt reply.
When someone has insulted me.
I find I can quite easily

but only when it is too late
Why can’t I just retaliate?
when someone has insulted me.
At the time immediately.

Perhaps I’m taken by surprise
perhaps because I am too wise.
When someone has insulted me
to take the insult seriously.

Though I must say in self defence
I am not quick to take offence
when some one has insulted me
I hold on to my dignity.

I will not be an easy mark
to be hurt by some chance remark.
Perhaps they weren’t insulting me
but merely meant to disagree

I simply smile and let it go
I do not really want to know.
If they were insulting me.
It hasn’t worked as they can see.

Least said soonest mended.

Least said soonest mended.

In the anger of the moment.
We react instinctively
Harsh words spill out by accident
Which we regret immediately.

Anger looses inhibitions
We do not think before we speak.

The spoken word can’t be unsaid
However much we may regret.
Although our anger’s long since fled
Those we offend do not forget.

Anger loosens inhibitions.
We do not think before we speak.

Old friends become new enemies.
Misunderstandings on both sides
Exchanging apologies
may help but bitterness abides.

Anger loosens inhibitions
We do not think before we speak.

Reacting to a perceived slight.
Something we are prone to do.
We forget to be polite.
It’s unfortunate but it’s true.

Mended

When turbulence overtakes me
And it seems everyone forsakes me
My heart within me is rended
Yet my soul is ascended
And my spirit is transcended
Because through blessed visitation,
Jesus invitation, and Holy Spirit inspiration
I am mended

To be healed one must yield to God's Will
A repentent and humble soul He will fill
With graces enough to get through the day
And upon bended knees one begins to pray
Promising to follow Jesus' Way
Because through blessed visitation,
Jesus invitation, and Holy Spirit inspiration
One is mended.

Sober

Royal Canadian blended
The spicy aroma had mended me
Matured for years and imported
Into my glass you poured it

And you're the only reason
That I remain unfrozen
Suppose it stands to reason
That you would turn on me

You're so solid
You're so solid
It burns inside of me
Cause you're so solid
It burns inside of me

The wild turkey's been chosen
Its caramel nose could smell me
Arbourler/Jameson I love you
The single malts came burning

And you're the only reason
That I remain unfrozen
Suppose it stands to reason
That you would turn on me

You're so solid
You're so solid
It burns inside of me
Cause you're so solid
It burns inside of me

Royal Canadian Blended
The spicy aroma had mended me
And you're the only reason
That I remain unfrozen
Suppose it stands to reason
That you would turn on me

You're so solid
You're so solid
It burns inside of me
Cause you're so solid
It burns inside of me

Time & Tears

I didnt cry all of these tears just to have you show up here again
I didnt lie awake all these nights to have you come walking back in
I didnt change my whole life around, not to mention my dreams and my plans
To have you come back with your same ol act thinking that Ill understand
Time and tears have mended the pain
Healed all the hurt and changed everything
Time and tears Im happy to say
Time and tears have washed it away
Time and tears have washed you away
I didnt think that I would survive the day that you walked out on me
I truly was more dead than alive; and the pain, lord I couldnt believe
I asked God to please have mercy on me and to ease all the feelings I felt
Then I saw the light, now Im more than alright;
Im much better off since you left
Time and tears have mended the pain
Healed all the hurt and changed everything
Time and tears have carried me through
Time and tears got me over you
Time and tears and somebody new
Time and tears is all that it takes
To mend shattered hopes or a heart when it breaks
Time and tears have carried me through
Time and tears got me over you
Time and tears and somebody new
Time and tears, time and tears got me over you
Time and tears, got me over you
