Book IV - Part 02 - Existence And Character Of The Images

But since I've taught already of what sort
The seeds of all things are, and how distinct
In divers forms they flit of own accord,
Stirred with a motion everlasting on,
And in what mode things be from them create,
And since I've taught what the mind's nature is,
And of what things 'tis with the body knit
And thrives in strength, and by what mode uptorn
That mind returns to its primordials,
Now will I undertake an argument-
One for these matters of supreme concern-
That there exist those somewhats which we call
The images of things: these, like to films
Scaled off the utmost outside of the things,
Flit hither and thither through the atmosphere,
And the same terrify our intellects,
Coming upon us waking or in sleep,
When oft we peer at wonderful strange shapes
And images of people lorn of light,
Which oft have horribly roused us when we lay
In slumber- that haply nevermore may we
Suppose that souls get loose from Acheron,
Or shades go floating in among the living,
Or aught of us is left behind at death,
When body and mind, destroyed together, each
Back to its own primordials goes away.

And thus I say that effigies of things,
And tenuous shapes from off the things are sent,
From off the utmost outside of the things,
Which are like films or may be named a rind,
Because the image bears like look and form
With whatso body has shed it fluttering forth-
A fact thou mayst, however dull thy wits,
Well learn from this: mainly, because we see
Even 'mongst visible objects many be
That send forth bodies, loosely some diffused-
Like smoke from oaken logs and heat from fires-
And some more interwoven and condensed-
As when the locusts in the summertime
Put off their glossy tunics, or when calves
At birth drop membranes from their body's surface,
Or when, again, the slippery serpent doffs
Its vestments 'mongst the thorns- for oft we see
The breres augmented with their flying spoils:
Since such takes place, 'tis likewise certain too
That tenuous images from things are sent,
From off the utmost outside of the things.
For why those kinds should drop and part from things,
Rather than others tenuous and thin,

Tenuous and Precarious

Tenuous and Precarious
Were my guardians,
Precarious and Tenuous,
Two Romans.

My father was Hazardous,
Hazardous
Dear old man,
Three Romans.

There was my brother Spurious,
Spurious Posthumous,
Spurious was Spurious,
Was four Romans.

My husband was Perfidious,
He was Perfidious
Five Romans.
Surreptitious, our son,
Was Surreptitious,
He was six Romans.

Our cat Tedious
Still lives,
Count not Tedious
Yet.

My name is Finis,
Finis, Finis,
I am Finis,
Six, five, four, three, two,
One Roman,
Finis.

Strange Relationship

I guess u know me well, I dont like winter
But I seem 2 get a kick out of doing u cold
Oh, what the hell, u always surrender
Whats this strange relationship that we hold on 2?
Baby I just cant stand 2 see u happy
More than that I hate 2 see u sad
Honey if u left me I just might do something rash
Whats this strange relationship? (ship, ship, ship)
I came and took your love, I took your body
I took all the self respect u ever had
I took u 4 a ride and baby Im sorry
The more u love me sugar, the more it makes me mad
Baby I just cant stand 2 see u happy
More than that I hate 2 see u sad
Honey if u left me I just might do something rash
Whats this strange relationship? (ship, ship, ship)
Isnt it a shame this aint a movie
Then u could rewrite my every line
Ill take all the blame, yo baby Im sorry
But I didnt like the way u where, so I had 2 make u mine
Baby I just cant stand 2 see u happy
More than that I hate 2 see u sad
Honey if u left me I just might do something rash
Whats this strange relationship? (ship, ship, ship)
Mmmmm, my strange relationship
Cant live with u, cant live without u
Thats all about..
Do u know? (strange relationship)
I think u and I got a (strange relationship)
Whats this strange relationship?
Yeah, yeah [repeated to fade]

Song For Life

I never believed that
I would see the rain fall again
At this moment in time-
I upheld the moon in my hands
On the darkest night of the year-
Today the day is at the spring and
The wind is carrying
Dandelion thistles
Through every moment in time-
I believe I see a cardinal
Perched upon the branch of a
Cherry tree alone-
Singing a song of hope and love-
All I can do is weep only because
I know tomorrow
Rain will come down in a deluge and
My tears will only follow…
I remember the day we met- my true love and I - the rain was
Falling hard and I would
Capture the raindrops in my cupped hands and
Wondering if my tears would fall
In this moment in time-
I would uphold the sun in my hands on
The darkest day of my life-
Never let it loose from my grasp because
I believe that love is tenuous as is
A day with sunshine or
A night when the moon is full-
Cardinal, I say,
Sing me an aria about love that
I shall never forget and
Watch me dance in the rain as my tears fall
Into the pond in the midst of the forest-
Love is none but tenuous and
I have lost my love once more and that is why I weep-
Rainy days are plentiful and so like the loss of amity-
Sing with me and perhaps tomorrow the sun shall rise over the mountains and
My love shall return and rain shall never fall again
And my love will never again abandon me-
Sunlight, moonlight and love-fickle as they may be-
Here we are at the spring and everything is blossoming-
My hope, my life and my tears- never ending-
And my song and my new life has just begun-
In my hand I hold a bouquet of dandelions and as their
Thistles are blown about,
I give my tears away-
I never believed I would see rain fall
Again, in this moment in time-
Of course there is so much I never believed would be true and
As I let the elusive sun from my grasp

Old Fashion Way

One woman, one man relationship, thats
the old fashion way, one woman, one man
relationship, thats the old fashion way,
and together they stay,
until their dying day-
One woman, one man relationship, thats
good and strong, one woman, one man
relationship thats good and strong,
thats the kind of relationship
that will last very long-
One woman, one man relationship,
thats what romance is all about,
One woman, one man relationship,
thats what romance is all about, the
old fashion way never goes
out of style,
like a candle that never burns out!

You Make Me Wanna

this is what you do
this is what you do
this is what you do

(Chorus)
you make me wanna leave the one i'm with
start a new relationship with you
this is what you do
think about her and the things that come along with
you make me
you make me wanna leave the one i'm with
start a new realtionship with you
this is what you do
think about her and the things that come along with
you make me
you make me

(Verse1)

Before anything began between us
You were like my bestfriend
The one I used to run to when me and my
girl was having problems (thats right)
You used to say it would be okay
suggest little nice things I should do
And when I come home at night and lay my head down
all I seem to think about is you
And how you make me wanna

(Chorus)
you make me wanna leave the one i'm with
start a new relationship with you
this is what you do
think about her and the things that come along with
you make me
you make me wanna leave the one i'm with
start a new realtionship with you
this is what you do
think about her and the things that come along with
you make me
you make me

Now what's bad
Is your're the one that hooked us up
Knowing it should've been you
What's sad is I love her but I'm falling for you
What should I do
Should I

Reverence For Life

Oh how precarious life is now.
No one knows what to do.
Should we close our eyes and shut our ears
and pray for miracles to come true?
Or stand up tall and hope for the best
and abolish all of our fears?
The tenuous situation in the Gulf
is affecting the life we revere.

But reverence for life is based on love
and a future without it is bleak.
The wave of violence and stupidity
seems to be at its peak.
We sleep through truth and awaken to lies
and resign ourselves to fate.
And sense and sensibility in most of us
is hanging like a weight.

This weight is an albatross around our neck
that's been choking us for too long.
We've allowed the few to rule the many
and hidden from what is wrong.
Is it too late?
Only time will tell.
No one knows for sure.
But I offer my my prayers for Mother earth
in the hopes that she will endure.

Canto the Sixth

I
"There is a tide in the affairs of men
Which, -- taken at the flood," -- you know the rest,
And most of us have found it now and then;
At least we think so, though but few have guess'd
The moment, till too late to come again.
But no doubt every thing is for the best --
Of which the surest sign is in the end:
When things are at the worst they sometimes mend.

II
There is a tide in the affairs of women
Which, taken at the flood, leads -- God knows where:
Those navigators must be able seamen
Whose charts lay down its current to a hair;
Not all the reveries of Jacob Behmen
With its strange whirls and eddies can compare:
Men with their heads reflect on this and that --
But women with their hearts on heaven knows what!

III
And yet a headlong, headstrong, downright she,
Young, beautiful, and daring -- who would risk
A throne, the world, the universe, to be
Beloved in her own way, and rather whisk
The stars from out the sky, than not be free
As are the billows when the breeze is brisk --
Though such a she's a devil (if that there be one),
Yet she would make full many a Manichean.

IV
Thrones, worlds, et cetera, are so oft upset
By commonest ambition, that when passion
O'erthrows the same, we readily forget,
Or at the least forgive, the loving rash one.
If Antony be well remember'd yet,
'T is not his conquests keep his name in fashion,
But Actium, lost for Cleopatra's eyes,
Outbalances all Caesar's victories.

V
He died at fifty for a queen of forty;
I wish their years had been fifteen and twenty,
For then wealth, kingdoms, worlds are but a sport -- I
Remember when, though I had no great plenty
Of worlds to lose, yet still, to pay my court, I
Gave what I had -- a heart: as the world went, I
Gave what was worth a world; for worlds could never
Restore me those pure feelings, gone forever.

Life From 1835 to 1851

And, now, a vacancy occurs,
For very nearly sixteen years,
In which I'd not the least desire,
To strike the harp or tune the lyre.
But having left the good old 'Medway:
I tried on shore to make some headway.
I first a situation got,
And not amiss I found my lot:-
My wages good, my work was various;
My living far above precarious.
I then began to look around,
And thought ere long to settle down:
And then a letter I wrote home,
And ask'd my love if she would come;
Offering at once to pay her passage:-
And in due time received this message:-
'I'll wait till many years are past,
If you'll say you'll come home at last;-
But can't consent to such removal,
Without my fathers full approval:
Which I'm afraid he'll never give;
But come home dear, we'll happy live.'
And, then I thought if home I went,
I could not feel the same content,
As if I'd never come away,
But work'd for half a crown a day:-
While here, I thought I'd every chance
My future prospects to advance.
And after some more serious thought:
Another letter home I wrote;-
Which now I cannot give verbatim,
Though it contain'd my ultimatium.
From her engagement I relieved her,
And I've no doubt it sorely grieved her:-
Then, married in due time I got:-
Though not my first love, still my lot.
We had our sorrows and our joys,
And in due time we had four boys;
But on the day our fifth was born,
My heart was with sad anguish torn:-
A fearful illness seiz'd my wife,
Which nearly drain'd away her life:
It was so sudden and severe;
It fill'd me with a dreadful fear.
We lost the babe; and my poor wife
Show'd very little sign of life,
For thirteen hours; then, I went near her;
And what I could, I did to cheer her:-
And in due time again she rallied:
But oh! she look'd so deathly pallid.

The Reason For The Split

To be in a relationship that ends,
For one to claim they do not know what happened...
Should not have been a relationship that began.

For someone not to be conscious,
Of their own relationship...
Could mean they do not wish to admit,
An activity or lack of providing it...
Was the reason for the split.

And...
If the other one involved in the same relationship,
Has a difficult time remembering it took place...
Well,
There is no need to continue a nosey probing.

RELATIONSHIPS- A Bitter Sweat Feeling

I'm finally in a relationship,
And more so I'm being advised to quit.
I question the motives of our relationship,
It just made me realized it wasn't what I had expected.
In a relationship there's no more I's it's two,
When decisions are made I can't think about myself, I include you.

In a relationship feeling better off single,
I'm stuck in a web and can't get untangled.
The constant arguing and accusations,
I am tired.
When he says it wasn't intentional,
Once too many times it becomes unbearable.
It's like you want me to hate you.
Actually I hate the things you do.
Deciphering what's hold me.
It's LOVE, an unknown and unseen entity.

Comforted By a Fling

Could I be faithful,
In a monogamous relationship.
Without threats of being attacked,
By a hot pot of grits.
Or being collared or leashed,
With locked wrists.
After awakening from a stupor...
Listening to someone 'hiss'?
Is Christmas celebrated,
Every year on December 25th?
Yes! It is.
And I've tried it...
That monogamous bit.
And some things for some people,
Are better to forget.

I often ask myself this...
If I willfully married,
And I was conscious of it...
My intentions were sincere.
My heart was captured.
And wide awake I was determined not to quit.

I was...
Mad-ly,
In LOVE.
Hypnotized and 'whipped'
Into a craze...
In those days when I declared ownership.

But today I am not in a relationship.
The idea of having one frightens.
And I am aware enough to admit it.
I surrendered my single life twice.
Saying 'I Do' and shaking with nervousness.

The emotional investment it takes to be involved,
Is too stressful when conflicts can not be solved.
And time and effort spent...
Seems to disengage and dissolve.
Senselessness and nonsense,
Do not like oil and vinegar mix.
No matter how delicious a remembered salad.

Growing and learning together is important...
When storms and weather begin to change course.
Being prepared prevents divorce.
And a friendship not there to share...
With a maturity to accept flaws?
Those dividends given in a relationship,

On Different Missions

You may 'now' see,
What I have seen!
But that doesn't mean,
We're on the same scene...
Together.
Or ever.

You and I can not relate.
You and I are not relationship bait.

We,
You and me...
Are on different missions.
And destined to experience separate fates.

You and I can not relate.
You and I are not relationship bait.

And I am quite appalled,
By those accusations you have made.
Then try to apologize for statements laid,
Much too late.
Ones I did not appreciate.

If I recall,
You announced publicly...
How stupid I would appear,
After your expectations of my downfall.

Has time changed your mind?
Did you come here to find me,
Forgiving?
Willing to smolder in afterglow.
Hoping time spent with you,
I'd acknowledge as divine!

What missionary encouraged you to do this?
We,
You and me...
Are on different missions.
The kind that dismisses admissions late.

You and I can not relate.
You and I are not relationship bait.

You may 'now' see,
What I have seen!
But that doesn't mean,
We're on the same scene...

Rumors, Conflicts and Constant Gossip

I know your family has questions,
About me and our relationship.
And exactly what it is I do.
With a persistence to see us,
Eventually split!

But please inform them,
Before my impatience slips.
That the slut they believe I am,
Is not me...
But 'had' been you.
Before we met.
And honestly expressed,
Each of our past regrets!

I am no angel,
By no means do I have wings.
And I never pretended to fly,
To disguise my flaws with alibis...
Or compromise the truth I found.

However...
If they continue to ride on high horses...
As if manure that smells does not stink.
Tell them, yes
I might have been divorced before.
But I wasn't the one,
To teach you to be a whore.
You and I have discussed our blemishes.
And we needn't do that to open old sores.
And I was worse than you.
I was thisclose to prostitution.

And 'anything' they've ever said 'I DO' to...
Was to stay busy in our business,
Probably others too!
And we have chosen that to ignore!
That's why I prefer to have them,
Not around us anymore.

Now...
Should I relate this?
Since our past mistakes,
We've already dismissed.
Or is it with me,
You want to keep this...
Our private relationship?

We did not come together,
To smear ourselves with their constant...

A Sad Thing

Some say life is like a ship
Sailing in the ocean of acid
A voyage coloured with hardship
A journey filled with bullshit

Survival is the most reality
Status measures sanity
Especially one with prosperity
Have-nots are labeled as vanity

One individual will only exist
When other people notice
Like fire with oxygen
Like a narcist with his reflection

What a sad thing life is
If every living soul sees
Survival of the fittest is
The only law that exist

Luckily, human needs to create
To socialize and to debate
To realize and to relate
Relationship and faith

Relationship is connectivity
One connects to the other party
Nothing will disrupt the clarity
As long as both maintain honesty

Relationship is synchronization
That requires collaboration
Each must realize the benefit
Before it actually succeed

Faith is a relationship
That requires complete partnership
It's indistinct and confusing
Yet exist and influencing

Some believe faith is vertical
While socializing is horizontal
Thus, one can remain faithful
While being fool and hateful

Like some murderous extreemists
Proud, sacred, and optimist
Killing in the name of faith
Bombing for a status of saint
