When I invite a woman to dinner, I expect her to look at my face. That's the price she has to pay.

When you love a woman

It can happen to you
Suddenly the breeze around becomes new
It can be felt with in you
Suddenly a face come in to view
-When you love a woman

It will make you feel virgin
Every time you think that she is the one
It will gonna make you mad
Everywhere you find her talks with every one
-When you love a woman

Can it happen to her?
And your face turns blue
Can she becomes your?
And everywhere is dew
-When you love a woman

Should you try to convince her?
You know you can’t
Should you perceive all pain and not her?
You know there is no way out
-When you love a woman
Does love means to achieve?
It is the most beautiful gift you already have
Do you find that peace?
It is said that true love – a sorrowful end it has
-When you love a woman…truly

When You Love A Woman

In my life I see where Ive been
I said that Id never fall again
Within myself I was wrong
My searchin aint over...over
I know that
When you love a woman
You see your world inside her eyes
When you love a woman
You know shes standin by your side
A joy that lasts forever
Theres a band of gold that shines waiting somewhere...oh yeah
If I cant believe that someone is true
To fall in love is so hard to do
I hope and pray tonight
Somewhere youre thinkin of me girl
Yes I know...i know that
When you love a woman
You see your world inside her eyes
When you love a woman
You know shes standin by your side
A joy that lasts forever
Theres a band of gold that shines waiting somewhere...oh
Its enough to make you cry
When you see her walkin by
And you look into her eyes
When you love a woman
You see your world inside her eyes
When you love a woman
Well you know shes standin by your side
A joy that lasts forever
Theres a band of gold that shines
When you love a woman...
When you love, love, love, love
When you love a woman
You see your world inside her eyes

Hesterna Rosa

When a girl's fancy flutters to a man,
It is but as a bird that flies and cries;
She has a winged thing's April memories
Of sunshine, and the morning Spring began.

Love at her heart, importuning a tryst,
Finds in her senses little heed of it;
But her bright lips most girlishly admit
The simple homeliness of being kissed.

Kiss and be friends, or, when the kissing closes,
Part, as we were together, merely friends;
Why should we weep because the summer ends,
And some sweet moments ended with the roses?

The last moment

As a mosquito hangs buzzing in the air
while telling everybody of its approach
and with a predatory instinct
finds a landing zone,
it is powerless to comprehend
the last moment
when a raised hand
makes it just another blotch of blood and guts,

far too busy feeding, enjoying the nectar of life
in that instant it does not comprehend
that destiny enacted by mere man
comes down in a darkening slap
and maybe the darkness
which is eternally
makes everything around it fade to black,

but to this enemy of man,
there is no hesitation, demur and misgivings
of the price it has to pay
for its feeding act.

She Said There is No Hell

She stoically said there is no hell
Her irascible temper flaring
From her arrogant lips one can tell
A shallowness of heart appearing.

One so exalted and blessed by God
Would defiantly deny Divine Justice
Who has a place for the good and the bad
For the Book of Luke had mentioned this.

It is sad that a master of the human law
Has diligently read all the legal books
How can one judge when she does not know
That in the Bible she has failed to look?

From her cursing and foul language in court
To her lack of compassion and due respect
The lady judge lets her rage come forth
From one who denies hell, what can we expect?

Every Second of a Memory

Do you remember back when
it was you and me
their was'nt nothing we could'nt do
we stuck through it all
through the thick and thin

But on down that rugged road
crossing over the line
our love was'nt strong enough
that was the price we had to pay
in the end

I can still recall
every moment spent with you
I never wanted so much more
than to be there once again

But now in time
still it seems so far away
with every second of memory
that comes rushing through
these hearts were'nt so tough

And as I stand here looking around
picking up pieces I already found
their's nothing more to say
this is how it had to be
with every second of a memory

Baby's Gonna Cry

Do you feel sorry lover?
Do you feel blue?
What reason did you have
To be untrue?
Now you could be so good
But you have to be so bad
When you could make me
Happy lover
You make me sad.
Now there's a cool breeze blowin'
Blowin' out the flame
That used to burn inside me
At the mention of your name,
Now there's a cool breeze blowin'
Blowin' down the track -
That's where i'm goin'
And i'm never comin' back...
My my - baby's gonna cry
My my - baby's gonna cry
My my - baby's gonna cry
Tonight - oh yea...
Now there's nothing
Comes from nothing
That's what they always say
Didn't mama tell ya
That's the price you have to pay?
Now you can't have
Your piece of cake
And eat the sweet thing too
But that kind of understanding
Isn't good enough for you
My my - baby's gonna cry

Wake Up (Set Your Sights)

Let me see the sunshine. Let me feel the rain.
Let me go where I wanna go.
Well I want to smell the flowers, see the dawn again.
Find those friends I used to know.
Find those friends I used to know.
Well I spent twenty long years in a dirty old prison cell.
I never saw the light of day.
If you could understand, oh that kind of living hell.
That's the price I had to pay. Oh yeah!
That's the price I had to pay.
They say I killed a man, but I never told 'em why.
So you can guess what I've been through.
And so for twenty long years I've been thinking of that other guy
and what I saw him do to you.
What I saw him do to you.
Listen. So when tomorrow comes and I walk outside that door,
try to understand the strain.
But if you smile that smile I know I couldn't ask for more.
I know I'd do it all again. Yes I would.
I know I'd do it all again.

But God Is Love!

A life of sin is all too short
The comes the great surprise
When God receives the true report
But cannot close His eyes

“But God is love” so oft we cry
“His love is here to stay
It’s not God’s will for us to die
No matter what you say”

Yes God is Love, and longs to give
Eternal life to all
But only those in Christ; will live
Who heed Salvation’s call

We just can’t fool with God above
And think we won’t get burnt
For God is Fire as well as love
This lesson must be learned

In truth we come, but oft return
To where we were before
Although we’ve heard one day we’ll burn
Once God has closed the door..Gen.7: 16

Some think it lies, God’s not that cruel..Gen.7: 21
To make a place like hell..Rev.20: 14-15
But Satan’s out to cheat and fool..1Pe.5: 8
And all; means you as well

So take good care of how you live
Best learn the Lord to fear
Not every sin will God forgive..Mt.12: 31
The bible says quite clear..1Jn.5: 16

Yes God is love, yet God is not
A God to disobey
Remember well the wife of Lot..Gen.19: 26
The price she had to pay.

A calm river flow

Rivers are calm when flow quietly
You can hear from distance very gently
It touches the bank and flows silently
The constant move is on relentlessly

Rivers are named as mother too
It has proved very true
It can effectively prove as water way
They will be there for dominant play

Rivers continue to create fever
She has been dreaded with fear
When she has water flow and is in spate
No amount of words can help to state

Some rives are considered as death rivers
They bring catastrophes and shivers
They are feared most in people’s mind
They may be dangerous and so much unkind

Our lives are totally dependent on small or big
In every season she will make a dig
She will be like virgin lady
Rushing to meet her nice buddy

Every thing to face ruin on the way
She has still decisive role to play
It can be considered as our life line
She is kind, calm and always fine

When bloody wars were waged on the banks?
Many ships were made to sink
The blood continued to flow in the crystal water
Still men did not turn out to be hater

River has witnessed rise and fall of the empires
They continued to fight for lands to acquire
What made them to run for bloody race?
It was unclear from any angle to asses the case

Rivers may leave behind very good imprint
She may come and go with sound warning and hint
It is our misfortune that we are unable to control
Plenty of water to be enjoyed while on stroll

Pregnant And With Pride

You came back from the doctors office and he
Confirmed what you already knew.
He said: you are pregnant! I’m happy for you.
You struggled for a while for you to conceive
Now it’s become a reality.
When you are ready I’ll set it up for you
A scan is what we will do.
You will see your child in its early stage.

Medical technology is an amazing thing
Gives you images you can see.
She left his office and her heart was filled
Telling her husband, he would be thrilled.
She went back to have the scan done
And found out she would have a son.
From a family of two, it would now be three.
She was full of ecstasy.

She now started feeling the aches and pains
Morning sickness she did gain.
She would feel him kick and move around
His feet kicking like he was on the ground.
She would rub her stomach and he would calm down
Sing him lullabies that were world renown.
She changed the wording on some of them
To fit what she wanted to say.
“Hush my little baby, don’t you cry
Mommy will always be by your side.
I will shelter you from wind and rain
And take away all your pain.
I have given you life, but you have given me mine
And I will love you till the end of time.”
The months seemed to go by fast, and the pains they did last
But the pain was the price she had to pay
Because her prayers were answered in every way.
Her son was born, and as beautiful as can be
And GOD had blessed her and her newfound family.

Alive (demo)

This romeo is bleeding, but you can't see his blood
It's nothing but some feelings
That this old dog kicked up
It's been raining since you left me
Now I'm drowning in the flood
You see I've always been a fighter
But without you I give up
Now I can't sing a love song
Like the way it's meant to be
Well,I guess I'm not that good anymore
But baby, that's just me
1-Yeah I, will love you, baby
Always and i'll be there
Forever and a day, always
2-I'll be there, till the stars don't shine
Till the heavens burst and the words don't rhyme
I know when i die you'll be on my mind
and I'll love you, always
Now your pictures that you left behind
Are just memories of a different life
Some that made us laugh
Some that made us cry
One that made you have to say goodbye
What I'd give to run my fingers thru your hair
Touch your lips, to hold you near,
When you say your prayers, try to understand
I've made mistakes, I'm just a man
When he holds you close, when he pulls you near
When he says the words
You've been needing to hear, I'll wish I was him
'Cause these words are mine, to say to you
'Til the end of time (rpt 1)
If you told me to cry for you, I could
If you told me to die for you, I would
Take a look at my face
There's no price i won't pay
To say these words to you
Well, there ain't no luck in these loaded dice
But baby, if you give me just one more try
We can pack up our old dreams, and our old lives,
We'll find a place, where the sun still shines
(rpt 1,2)

Bring The Beat Back

Black rain falling on me
Black rain is all that I see
Black rain colours the sand
Too fast I don't understand
False prophets talking about our life our destiny
Rain forest still alive sounds like a joke an irony
The air smells dirty we can all see pollution
To heal the world is not a game or an illusion
We see the world hunger not enough to eat
We close our eyes walking through the lonely streets
Strange disease there's nothing there's no cure
Cancer aids and much more we know for sure
Should we stay or run away
That's the price we have to pay
And then before we fade to grey
The message is love
The message is love
Should we stay or run away
That's the price we have to pay
And then before we fade to grey
The message is love
The message is love
Sometimes we get angry there's no focus in our life
When people get hungry they gonna learn how to survive
Homeless people concealed in the street
With no hopes and no dreams with no shoes for their feet
How many guns they have to melt they have to burn
Return to good sense when will we ever learn
Fighting this freedom for everyone for you and me
I know that this world is the place for us to be
Black rain made out of steam
Black rain to the extreme
Black rain what can we do
Too fast a nightmare comes true
Should we stay or run away
That's the price we have to pay
And then before we fade to grey
The message is love
The message is love
Should we stay or run away
That's the price we have to pay
And then before we fade to grey
The message is love
The message is love
The message is love
They've got drugs for children sniff to be free
They've got so much corruption this is all w

Thunder And Lightening

Locked up in the classroom waiting for the fight
Down to the schoolyard knocking the gate
Into the alley meet up with the boys
Waiting for the weekend to make a little noise
Thunder is strong, lightning is death
Kicking the girls and it's starting to blast
Sweeter than the heavens and the fate means stumble
But it's Saturday night when heavy rock was born
Like thunder and lightning
god damn, it's so exciting
It hits you like a hammer
god damn
It was Saturday night I was ready for the dance
My girl walked in holding another guys hand
He stood six foot six he looked two miles wide
I was taking it easy till he took her outside
I was madder than hell fit to burn
This guy would break a leg before but now he's got to run
Standing in the corner giving him a thrill
You can keep your lover honey, but he's got to pay the bill
Like thunder and lightning
god damn, it's so exciting
It hits you like a hammer
god damn
Well the place started rocking it was Saturday night
I was dressed to kill I was feeling alright
Alright in the middle of the night
I wasn't ready for a rumble but the mood was right
When he got up to leave
I stood in his way
I said love that's the price you have to pay
In the doorway up against the wall
When they play a heavy record then I'm gonna have a ball
Like thunder and lightning
god damn, it's so exciting
It hits you like a hammer
god damn
Like thunder and lightning
god damn, it's so exciting
It hits you like a hammer
god damn
We started to rumble and stumble
It is we were rocking and rolling and rolling and tumbling
I fumbled and started to win
When the greater than wicked then I hit him again
I hit him again and I couldn't hit him anymore
My head was all black and blue and my jaw was sore
Sweeter than the heavens and like a frightening stumble
It was Saturday night when heavy rock was born

As Life Was Five

Portate bien,
behave yourself you always said to me.
I behaved myself
when others were warm in winter
and I stood out in the cold.
I behaved myself when others had full plates
and I stared at them hungrily,
never speaking out of turn,
existing in a shell of good white behavior
with my heart a wet-feathered
bird growing but never able to crack out of the shell.
Behaving like a good boy,
my behavior shattered
by outsiders who came
to my village one day
insulting my grandpa because he couldn't speak
English
English-
the invader's sword
the oppressor's language-
that hurled me into profound despair
that day Grandpa and I walked into the farm office
for a loan and this man didn't give my grandpa
an application because he was stupid, he said,
because he was ignorant and inferior,
and that moment
cut me in two torturous pieces
screaming my grandpa was a lovely man
that this government farm office clerk was a rude beast-
and I saw my grandpa's eyes go dark
with wound-hurts, regret, remorse
that his grandchild would witness
him humiliated
and the apricot tree in his soul
was buried
was cut down
using English language as an ax,
and he hung from that dead tree
like a noosed-up Mexican
racist vigilante strung up ten years earlier
for no other reason than that he was different,
than that they didn't understand
his sacred soul, his loving heart,
his prayers and his songs,
Your words, Portate bien,
resonate in me,
and I obey in my integrity, my kindness, my courage,
as I am born again in the suffering of my people,
in our freedom, our beauty, our dual-faced,
dual-cultured, two-songed soul
and two-hearted
ancient culture,
me porto bien, Grandpa,
your memory
leafing my heart
like sweetly fragrant sage.

But the scene of my grandpa in that room,
what came out of his soul
and what soared from his veins,
tidal-waving in my heart,
helped make me into a poet
singing a song that endures and feeds
to make my fledgling heart
an eagle,
that makes my heavy fingers
strum a lover's heart and
create happiness in her sadness,
that makes the very ground in the prairie
soil to plant and feed the vision of so many of us
who just want to dance and love and fly
that makes us loyal to our hearts
and true to our souls!

It's the scene
that has never left me-
through all the sadness
the terrors
the sweet momentary joys
that have blossomed in me,
broken me, shattered my innocence
I've
never forgotten the room that day,
the way the light hazily filtered in the windows,
the strong dignified presence of my grandfather
in his sheepskin coat and field work boots,
that scene,
the way the boards creaked under his work boots,
haunted me
when my children were born at home
and my hands brought them into this world,
that scene was in my hands,
it echoed in my dreams, drummed in my blood,
cried in my silent heart,
was with me through hours of my life,
that man behind the counter,
his important government papers rattling in the breeze,
disdainful look on his face,
that scene, the door, the child I was,
my grandpa's hand on the doorknob, his eyes on me like a voice
in the wind
forgiving and hurtful and loving,
to this moment-
his eyes following me
where I swirl in a maddened dance
to free it from my bones,
like a broken-winged sparrow yearning for spring
fields,
let the scene go, having healed it in my soul,
having nurtured it in my heart, I sing its flight, out, go,
fly sweet bird!

But the scene that dusty day
with the drought-baked clay in my pants cuffs,
the sheep starving for feed
and my grandfather's hopes up
that the farm-aid man
would help us as he had other farmers-

that scene framed in my mind, ten years old
and having prayed at mass that morning,
begging God not to let our sheep die,
to perform a miracle for us
with a little help from the farm-aid man,
I knew entering that door,
seeing gringos come out smiling with signed
papers to buy feed,
that we too were going to survive the
drought;

the scene with its wooden floor,
my shoes scraping sand grains that had blown in,
the hot sun warming my face,
and me standing in a room later
by myself,
after the farm-aid man turned us down
and I know our sheep were going to die,
knew Grandfather's heart was going to die,
that moment
opened a wound in my heart
and in the wound the scene replays itself
a hundred times,
the grief, the hurt, the confusion
that day changed my life forever,
made me a man, made me understand
that because Grandfather couldn't speak
English,
his heart died that day,
and when I turned and walked out the door
onto Main Street again,
squinting my eyes at the whirling dust,
the world was never the same
because it was the first time
I had ever witnessed racism,
how it killed people's dreams, and during all of it
my grandfather said, Portate bien, mijo,
behave yourself, my son, Portate bien.

The Woods Of Westermain

I

Enter these enchanted woods,
You who dare.
Nothing harms beneath the leaves
More than waves a swimmer cleaves.
Toss your heart up with the lark,
Foot at peace with mouse and worm,
Fair you fare.
Only at a dread of dark
Quaver, and they quit their form:
Thousand eyeballs under hoods
Have you by the hair.
Enter these enchanted woods,
You who dare.

II

Here the snake across your path
Stretches in his golden bath:
Mossy-footed squirrels leap
Soft as winnowing plumes of Sleep:
Yaffles on a chuckle skim
Low to laugh from branches dim:
Up the pine, where sits the star,
Rattles deep the moth-winged jar.
Each has business of his own;
But should you distrust a tone,
Then beware.
Shudder all the haunted roods,
All the eyeballs under hoods
Shroud you in their glare.
Enter these enchanted woods,
You who dare.

III

Open hither, open hence,
Scarce a bramble weaves a fence,
Where the strawberry runs red,
With white star-flower overhead;
Cumbered by dry twig and cone,
Shredded husks of seedlings flown,
Mine of mole and spotted flint:
Of dire wizardry no hint,
Save mayhap the print that shows
Hasty outward-tripping toes,
Heels to terror on the mould.
These, the woods of Westermain,
Are as others to behold,
Rich of wreathing sun and rain;
Foliage lustreful around
Shadowed leagues of slumbering sound.
Wavy tree-tops, yellow whins,
Shelter eager minikins,
Myriads, free to peck and pipe:
Would you better? would you worse?
You with them may gather ripe
Pleasures flowing not from purse.
Quick and far as Colour flies
Taking the delighted eyes,
You of any well that springs
May unfold the heaven of things;
Have it homely and within,
And thereof its likeness win,
Will you so in soul's desire:
This do sages grant t' the lyre.
This is being bird and more,
More than glad musician this;
Granaries you will have a store
Past the world of woe and bliss;
Sharing still its bliss and woe;
Harnessed to its hungers, no.
On the throne Success usurps,
You shall seat the joy you feel
Where a race of water chirps,
Twisting hues of flourished steel:
Or where light is caught in hoop
Up a clearing's leafy rise,
Where the crossing deerherds troop
Classic splendours, knightly dyes.
Or, where old-eyed oxen chew
Speculation with the cud,
Read their pool of vision through,
Back to hours when mind was mud;
Nigh the knot, which did untwine
Timelessly to drowsy suns;
Seeing Earth a slimy spine,
Heaven a space for winging tons.
Farther, deeper, may you read,
Have you sight for things afield,
Where peeps she, the Nurse of seed,
Cloaked, but in the peep revealed;
Showing a kind face and sweet:
Look you with the soul you see't.
Glory narrowing to grace,
Grace to glory magnified,
Following that will you embrace
Close in arms or aery wide.
Banished is the white Foam-born
Not from here, nor under ban
Phoebus lyrist, Phoebe's horn,
Pipings of the reedy Pan.
Loved of Earth of old they were,
Loving did interpret her;
And the sterner worship bars
None whom Song has made her stars.
You have seen the huntress moon
Radiantly facing dawn,
Dusky meads between them strewn
Glimmering like downy awn:
Argent Westward glows the hunt,
East the blush about to climb;
One another fair they front,
Transient, yet outshine the time;
Even as dewlight off the rose
In the mind a jewel sows.
Thus opposing grandeurs live
Here if Beauty be their dower:
Doth she of her spirit give,
Fleetingness will spare her flower.
This is in the tune we play,
Which no spring of strength would quell;
In subduing does not slay;
Guides the channel, guards the well:
Tempered holds the young blood-heat,
Yet through measured grave accord,
Hears the heart of wildness beat
Like a centaur's hoof on sward.
Drink the sense the notes infuse,
You a larger self will find:
Sweetest fellowship ensues
With the creatures of your kind.
Ay, and Love, if Love it be
Flaming over I and ME,
Love meet they who do not shove
Cravings in the van of Love.
Courtly dames are here to woo,
Knowing love if it be true.
Reverence the blossom-shoot
Fervently, they are the fruit.
Mark them stepping, hear them talk,
Goddess, is no myth inane,
You will say of those who walk
In the woods of Westermain.
Waters that from throat and thigh
Dart the sun his arrows back;
Leaves that on a woodland sigh
Chat of secret things no lack;
Shadowy branch-leaves, waters clear,
Bare or veiled they move sincere;
Not by slavish terrors tripped
Being anew in nature dipped,
Growths of what they step on, these;
With the roots the grace of trees.
Casket-breasts they give, nor hide,
For a tyrant's flattered pride,
Mind, which nourished not by light,
Lurks the shuffling trickster sprite:
Whereof are strange tales to tell;
Some in blood writ, tombed in bell.
Here the ancient battle ends,
Joining two astonished friends,
Who the kiss can give and take
With more warmth than in that world
Where the tiger claws the snake,
Snake her tiger clasps infurled,
And the issue of their fight
People lands in snarling plight.
Here her splendid beast she leads
Silken-leashed and decked with weeds
Wild as he, but breathing faint
Sweetness of unfelt constraint.
Love, the great volcano, flings
Fires of lower Earth to sky;
Love, the sole permitted, sings
Sovereignly of ME and I.
Bowers he has of sacred shade,
Spaces of superb parade,
Voiceful . . . But bring you a note
Wrangling, howsoe'er remote,
Discords out of discord spin
Round and round derisive din:
Sudden will a pallor pant
Chill at screeches miscreant;
Owls or spectres, thick they flee;
Nightmare upon horror broods;
Hooded laughter, monkish glee,
Gaps the vital air.
Enter these enchanted woods
You who dare.

IV

You must love the light so well
That no darkness will seem fell.
Love it so you could accost
Fellowly a livid ghost.
Whish! the phantom wisps away,
Owns him smoke to cocks of day.
In your breast the light must burn
Fed of you, like corn in quern
Ever plumping while the wheel
Speeds the mill and drains the meal.
Light to light sees little strange,
Only features heavenly new;
Then you touch the nerve of Change,
Then of Earth you have the clue;
Then her two-sexed meanings melt
Through you, wed the thought and felt.
Sameness locks no scurfy pond
Here for Custom, crazy-fond:
Change is on the wing to bud
Rose in brain from rose in blood.
Wisdom throbbing shall you see
Central in complexity;
From her pasture 'mid the beasts
Rise to her ethereal feasts,
Not, though lightnings track your wit
Starward, scorning them you quit:
For be sure the bravest wing
Preens it in our common spring,
Thence along the vault to soar,
You with others, gathering more,
Glad of more, till you reject
Your proud title of elect,
Perilous even here while few
Roam the arched greenwood with you.
Heed that snare.
Muffled by his cavern-cowl
Squats the scaly Dragon-fowl,
Who was lord ere light you drank,
And lest blood of knightly rank
Stream, let not your fair princess
Stray: he holds the leagues in stress,
Watches keenly there.
Oft has he been riven; slain
Is no force in Westermain.
Wait, and we shall forge him curbs,
Put his fangs to uses, tame,
Teach him, quick as cunning herbs,
How to cure him sick and lame.
Much restricted, much enringed,
Much he frets, the hooked and winged,
Never known to spare.
'Tis enough: the name of Sage
Hits no thing in nature, nought;
Man the least, save when grave Age
From yon Dragon guards his thought.
Eye him when you hearken dumb
To what words from Wisdom come.
When she says how few are by
Listening to her, eye his eye.
Self, his name declare.
Him shall Change, transforming late,
Wonderously renovate.
Hug himself the creature may:
What he hugs is loathed decay.
Crying, slip thy scales, and slough!
Change will strip his armour off;
Make of him who was all maw,
Inly only thrilling-shrewd,
Such a servant as none saw
Through his days of dragonhood.
Days when growling o'er his bone,
Sharpened he for mine and thine;
Sensitive within alone;
Scaly as the bark of pine.
Change, the strongest son of Life,
Has the Spirit here to wife.
Lo, their young of vivid breed,
Bear the lights that onward speed,
Threading thickets, mounting glades,
Up the verdurous colonnades,
Round the fluttered curves, and down,
Out of sight of Earth's blue crown,
Whither, in her central space,
Spouts the Fount and Lure o' the chase.
Fount unresting, Lure divine!
There meet all: too late look most.
Fire in water hued as wine,
Springs amid a shadowy host,
Circled: one close-headed mob,
Breathless, scanning divers heaps,
Where a Heart begins to throb,
Where it ceases, slow, with leaps.
And 'tis very strange, 'tis said,
How you spy in each of them
Semblance of that Dragon red,
As the oak in bracken-stem.
And, 'tis said, how each and each:
Which commences, which subsides:
First my Dragon! doth beseech
Her who food for all provides.
And she answers with no sign;
Utters neither yea nor nay;
Fires the water hued as wine;
Kneads another spark in clay.
Terror is about her hid;
Silence of the thunders locked;
Lightnings lining the shut lid;
Fixity on quaking rocked.
Lo, you look at Flow and Drought
Interflashed and interwrought:
Ended is begun, begun
Ended, quick as torrents run.
Young Impulsion spouts to sink;
Luridness and lustre link;
'Tis your come and go of breath;
Mirrored pants the Life, the Death;
Each of either reaped and sown:
Rosiest rosy wanes to crone.
See you so? your senses drift;
'Tis a shuttle weaving swift.
Look with spirit past the sense,
Spirit shines in permanence.
That is She, the view of whom
Is the dust within the tomb,
Is the inner blush above,
Look to loathe, or look to love;
Think her Lump, or know her Flame;
Dread her scourge, or read her aim;
Shoot your hungers from their nerve;
Or, in her example, serve.
Some have found her sitting grave;
Laughing, some; or, browed with sweat,
Hurling dust of fool and knave
In a hissing smithy's jet.
More it were not well to speak;
Burn to see, you need but seek.
Once beheld she gives the key
Airing every doorway, she.
Little can you stop or steer
Ere of her you are the seer.
On the surface she will witch,
Rendering Beauty yours, but gaze
Under, and the soul is rich
Past computing, past amaze.
Then is courage that endures
Even her awful tremble yours.
Then, the reflex of that Fount
Spied below, will Reason mount
Lordly and a quenchless force,
Lighting Pain to its mad source,
Scaring Fear till Fear escapes,
Shot through all its phantom shapes.
Then your spirit will perceive
Fleshly seed of fleshly sins;
Where the passions interweave,
How the serpent tangle spins
Of the sense of Earth misprised,
Brainlessly unrecognized;
She being Spirit in her clods,
Footway to the God of Gods.
Then for you are pleasures pure,
Sureties as the stars are sure:
Not the wanton beckoning flags
Which, of flattery and delight,
Wax to the grim Habit-Hags
Riding souls of men to night:
Pleasures that through blood run sane,
Quickening spirit from the brain.
Each of each in sequent birth,
Blood and brain and spirit, three,
(Say the deepest gnomes of Earth),
Join for true felicity.
Are they parted, then expect
Some one sailing will be wrecked:
Separate hunting are they sped,
Scan the morsel coveted.
Earth that Triad is: she hides
Joy from him who that divides;
Showers it when the three are one
Glassing her in union.
Earth your haven, Earth your helm,
You command a double realm;
Labouring here to pay your debt,
Till your little sun shall set;
Leaving her the future task:
Loving her too well to ask.
Eglantine that climbs the yew,
She her darkest wreathes for those
Knowing her the Ever-new,
And themselves the kin o' the rose.
Life, the chisel, axe and sword,
Wield who have her depths explored:
Life, the dream, shall be their robe
Large as air about the globe;
Life, the question, hear its cry
Echoed with concordant Why;
Life, the small self-dragon ramped,
Thrill for service to be stamped.
Ay, and over every height
Life for them shall wave a wand:
That, the last, where sits affright,
Homely shows the stream beyond.
Love the light and be its lynx,
You will track her and attain;
Read her as no cruel Sphinx
In the woods of Westermain,
Daily fresh the woods are ranged;
Glooms which otherwhere appal,
Sounded: here, their worths exchanged
Urban joins with pastoral:
Little lost, save what may drop
Husk-like, and the mind preserves.
Natural overgrowths they lop,
Yet from nature neither swerves,
Trained or savage: for this cause:
Of our Earth they ply the laws,
Have in Earth their feeding root,
Mind of man and bent of brute.
Hear that song; both wild and ruled.
Hear it: is it wail or mirth?
Ordered, bubbled, quite unschooled?
None, and all: it springs of Earth.
O but hear it! 'tis the mind;
Mind that with deep Earth unites,
Round the solid trunk to wind
Rings of clasping parasites.
Music have you there to feed
Simplest and most soaring need.
Free to wind, and in desire
Winding, they to her attached
Feel the trunk a spring of fire,
And ascend to heights unmatched,
Whence the tidal world is viewed
As a sea of windy wheat,
Momently black, barren, rude;
Golden-brown, for harvest meet,
Dragon-reaped from folly-sown;
Bride-like to the sickle-blade:
Quick it varies, while the moan,
Moan of a sad creature strayed,
Chiefly is its voice. So flesh
Conjures tempest-flails to thresh
Good from worthless. Some clear lamps
Light it; more of dead marsh-damps.
Monster is it still, and blind,
Fit but to be led by Pain.
Glance we at the paths behind,
Fruitful sight has Westermain.
There we laboured, and in turn
Forward our blown lamps discern,
As you see on the dark deep
Far the loftier billows leap,
Foam for beacon bear.
Hither, hither, if you will,
Drink instruction, or instil,
Run the woods like vernal sap,
Crying, hail to luminousness!
But have care.
In yourself may lurk the trap:
On conditions they caress.
Here you meet the light invoked
Here is never secret cloaked.
Doubt you with the monster's fry
All his orbit may exclude;
Are you of the stiff, the dry,
Cursing the not understood;
Grasp you with the monster's claws;
Govern with his truncheon-saws;
Hate, the shadow of a grain;
You are lost in Westermain:
Earthward swoops a vulture sun,
Nighted upon carrion:
Straightway venom wine-cups shout
Toasts to One whose eyes are out:
Flowers along the reeling floor
Drip henbane and hellebore:
Beauty, of her tresses shorn,
Shrieks as nature's maniac:
Hideousness on hoof and horn
Tumbles, yapping in her track:
Haggard Wisdom, stately once,
Leers fantastical and trips:
Allegory drums the sconce,
Impiousness nibblenips.
Imp that dances, imp that flits,
Imp o' the demon-growing girl,
Maddest! whirl with imp o' the pits
Round you, and with them you whirl
Fast where pours the fountain-rout
Out of Him whose eyes are out:
Multitudes on multitudes,
Drenched in wallowing devilry:
And you ask where you may be,
In what reek of a lair
Given to bones and ogre-broods:
And they yell you Where.
Enter these enchanted woods,
You who dare.

Crocodile Woman (She Bites)

(clarke / sylvester / hicks)
Keep away from that hard-looking woman
Dont be fooled by her crocodile smile
She uses charm like a witch casting bad spells
You cant see what I can see for miles
I know shell leave you with no self-respect
Builds you up only to destroy you
Itll happen at a time you wont expect
Dont let her leave you reject
Sly girl, good timer, shes just a social climber
She bites
Entice, so nice, but you have to pay the price
She bites
Shell take away everything that youve got
Leaving you cold when you think things are hot
Bad kind, no good, making up her own rules
Be on your guard, boy, if she loses her cool

She bites, she bites, she bites

Crocodile Woman

(clarke / sylvester / hicks)
Keep away from that hard-looking woman
Don't be fooled by her crocodile smile
She uses charm like a witch casting bad spells
You can't see what i can see for miles
I know she'll leave you with no self-respect
Builds you up only to destroy you

Sly girl, good timer, she's just a social climber
She bites
Entice, so nice, but you have to pay the price
She bites
She'll take away everything that you've got
Leaving you cold when you think things are hot

Dream Woman

I. At a time he dreamed about a woman

At a time he dreamed about a woman
and started longing after her
who at night stared at him
reaching out with her hands to him

but it’s only in his dreams that he see her
and when he closes his eyes she is there.
At a time he dreamed about a woman
and started longing after her

then he went into the wide world
trusting his friends with his secret
who scoffed at him, sometimes heckled at him
and he really wanted to experience her love,
at a time he dreamed about a woman
and started longing after her.

II. There is a day that he meets her

There is a day that he meets her
looking unexpectedly into the depths of her eyes,
when they gaze at each other for the first time,
both fall into love with the first greeting

and her lips are soft and sweet beneath his
and she embraces him with each gesture.
There is a day that he meets her
looking unexpectedly into the depths of her eyes,

and his friends warn him against danger
but her eyes are black like soot
and he feels silly like an impertinent child
cannot stop his feelings,
there is a day that he meets her
looking unexpectedly into the depths of her eyes.
