The Albion Battleship Calamity

'Twas in the year of 1898, ond on the 21st of June,
The launching of the Battleship Albion caused a great gloom,
Amongst the relatives of many persons who were drowned in the River Thames,
Which their relatives will remember while life remains.

The vessel was christened by the Duchess of York,
And the spectators' hearts felt light as cork
As the Duchess cut the cord that was holding the fine ship,
Then the spectators loudly cheered as the vessel slid down the slip.

The launching of the vessel was very well carried out,
While the guests on the stands cheered without any doubt,
Under the impression that everything would go well;
But, alas! instantaneously a bridge and staging fell.

Oh! little did the Duchess of York think that day
That so many lives would be taken away
At the launching of the good ship Albion,
But when she heard of the catastrophe she felt woebegone.

But accidents will happen without any doubt,
And often the cause thereof is hard to find out;
And according to report, I've heard people say,
'Twas the great crowd on the bridge caused it to give way.

Just as the vessel entered the water the bridge and staging gave way,
Immersing some three hundred people which caused great dismay
Amongst the thousands of spectators that were standing there,
And in the faces of the bystanders, were depicted despair.

Then the police boats instantly made for the fatal spot,
And with the aid of dockyard hands several people were got,
While some scrambled out themselves, the best way they could--
And the most of them were the inhabitants of the neighborhood.

Part of them were the wives and daughters of the dockyard hands,
And as they gazed upon them they in amazement stands;
And several bodies were hauled up quite dead.
Which filled the onlookers' hearts with pity and dread.

One of the first rescued was a little baby,
Which was conveyed away to the mortuary;
And several were taken to the fitter's shed, and attended to there
By the firemen and several nurses with the greatest care.

Meanwhile, heartrending scenes were taking place,
Whilst the tears ran down many a Mother and Father's face,
That had lost their children in the River Thames,
Which they will remember while life remains.

Young Fresh, And New

Young and different, uh
She looked at a condom, uh
And could still see the sun, uh
Do you remember 21, uh?
Can I stay to wait huh?
Grow up today huh
Can you really blame her?
Shit you couldn't even stay home
When the world feels like it's coming and
And you don't know what you know
And you think about what's holding you
It's relatives and close
Just leave it all behind, you gotta get away
You gotta get away
Everybody
See the look in my eye, uh
I've gotta get it out, uh
I don't care if they stare, uh
I know life's not fair, uh
I'm gonna play while I'm here, huh
I gotta get out, huh
Just watch me run away now
Uh, you know sometimes you just gotta
HEY!
Run away from home
Run away from (young, fresh and new) home
Run away from home
Run away from...
(Got to get away...)
I've got to get away
Hey...
(I've got to get away...)
I've got to get away, yeah
HEY!
Run away from home
Run away from (young, fresh and new) home
Run away from home
Run away from...
When the world feels like it's coming and

With Time, History Repeats Itself!

With time,

Relatives drift apart
Loved ones become unloved
Ones held in great esteem turn unwanted
Blood turns thinner than water
New walls of ego and prestige arise
Misunderstandings become stronger
Differences reinforce and multiply
Selfishness draws smaller circles
Love and affection vanish
Childhood years of togetherness disappear
Pedigree chart becomes complex
Newer friends and relatives emerge
Old traditions and cultural values dissolve
Life plays a cruel game amongst blood relatives
Brothers and sisters become strangers
Kith and kin refuse to revere the elderly
The world of love turns into one of inertness
One wonders whether life is really worth living!
But these are the sad realities of earthly life
All must undergo the stages and phases
There is no escape for anyone
Righteousness and principles get scorned
None can change the other
History repeats itself!

A strange e.mail from the Devil!

A groomsman is one of the male attendants to the groom in a wedding ceremony. The term usher is more common in the UK while the term 'groomsman' is considered somewhat lower-middle- class and used by those who have adopted the term from America.[citation needed] Usually the groom selects his closest friends and relatives to serve as groomsmen, and it is considered an honor to be selected. From his groomsmen, the groom usually chooses one to serve as best man.

For a wedding with many guests, the groom may also ask other male friends and relatives to act as ushers without otherwise participating in the wedding ceremony; their sole task is ushering guests to their seats before the ceremony. Ushers may also be hired for very large weddings.

In a military officer's wedding, the roles of groomsmen are replaced by swordsmen of the sword honor guard. They are usually picked as close personal friends of the groom who have served with him. Their role includes forming the traditional saber arch for the married couple and guests to walk through.

You'll be surprised Pen-pusher!
How I found your e.mail address,
Specially I collect bard's whereabouts
As I am very fond of poetry!
I read your profile and that's why
I am sending this invitation.
My one and only daughter marries soon
And the Bridegroom's party suggest you as a Groomsman
Because he knows you since in the Army.
Please reply us soon your availability.
-Devil de Morales
I replied him in brief.
Many thanks indeed for your valuable selection
But I have some regrets of my old Gabardine suit
Recently I wore for the Royal Wedding!
I have few rich relatives here
But they are not in good terms with me
As I am poor?
Otherwise I could have borrow one of their best suits and a Limousine!
With best regards,
Poor Pen-pusher!

for the silent bard couple Alison & Jerry!

Andy McElroe

My brother Andy said, that for a soldier he would go,
So great excitement came upon the house of McElroe.
My father sold a bog-hole to equip him for the war.
And my mother sold the cushions of her Sunday jaunting car.
And when brave Andy reach'd the front, 'twas furious
work he made,
They appointed him a private in the Crocodile Brigade.
The sound of Andy's battle cry struck terror thro' the foe.
His foot was on the desert and his name was McElroe.
At least that's what the letter said that came across the foam.
To Andy's anxious relatives awaiting him at home.
The papers say he ran away before he met the foe.
But that was quite unlike the style of Andy McElroe.

One morning brave Lord Wolseley for a battle felt inclined;
But all could see the general had something on his mind;
Sez he, 'My staff, 'twere dangerous to face yon deadly foe,
Unless we're sure that quite prepared is Andy McElroe.'
Then Andy cried, 'I'm here, my lord, and ready for the fray,'
'Advance then,' cried Lord Wolseley, 'and let every trumpet bray.'
Then England, Ireland, Scotland, rolled together on the foe,
But far ahead of everyone rushed Andy McElroe.
At least, that's what the letter said that came across the foam
To Andy's anxious relatives, awaiting him at home.
The government despatches had another tale- but no!
We won't believe a word against brave Andy McElroe.

The Mahdi had gone up a tree, a spyglass in his eye,
To see his Paynim chivalry the northern prowess try;
But soon he saw a form of dread, and cried in tones of woe,
'Be jabers let me out of this - there's Andy McElroe.'
Then down he hurried from his tree, and straight away he ran,
To keep appointments, as he said, in distant Kordofan,
And fled those Arab soldiery like sand siroccos blow,
Pursued (with much profanity) by Andy McElroe.
At least, that's what he told us when returning o'er the foam
To greet his anxious relatives, awaiting him at home.
So sing the song of triumph, and let all your bumpers flow,
In honour of our countryman, brave Andrew McElroe.

Don't reserve the wealth for generations

If a person happens
to acquire wealth by RIGHTFUL means,
he should be generous to take food
- generated by ploughing his land
by oxen - with many guests and relatives!

However alert,
Wealth may not stay with one person with partiality,
It will move from person to person like a cart wheel!

(naalatiyaar - aRaththuppaal - selvam nilaiyaamai 2)

Hence, don't reserve the wealth for generations,
Help and utilise for charity, feed guests and relatives!

Pretending We Are Strangers

I have an idea.
Let us all pretend,
We are strangers.

'We are.'

Well,
I have another idea.
Let's pretend we are all close relatives.

'We are all relatives.
But we prefer it better,
If we stayed pretending we are strangers.
Somehow that makes us feel even closer.'

A song of Ants

My wife grumbles when I throw sugar on the floor.
'Hey! You invite pests purposely.'
'No darling see how they carry patiently
And you hear their pleasant song? '
' Dry seasons we struggle to collect food for coming rains
And we have a small party for our relatives.'
Then I think of my few relatives here
They carry fire under the water.

You Couldnt Be Cuter

You couldnt be cuter
Plus that
You couldnt be smarter
Plus that
Intelligent face
You have a disgrace-
Ful charm
For me
You couldnt be keener
You look so fresh from the cleaner
You are the little grand slam
Ill take to my fam-
Ily
My ma will show you an album of me thatll bore you to tears
And youll attract all the relatives we have dodged for years and years
And what will they tell me?
Exactly, what will they tell me
Lets say you couldnt be nicer
Couldnt be sweeter
Couldnt be better
Couldnt be smoother
Couldnt be cuter, baby, than you are
My ma will show you an album of me thatll bore you to tears
And youll attract all the relatives we have dodged for years and years
And what will they tell me?
I know just what they will tell me
Theyll say you couldnt be nicer
Couldnt be sweeter
Couldnt be better
Couldnt be smoother
Couldnt be cuter, baby, than you are

Thesaurus

It could be the name of a prehistoric beast
that roamed the Paleozoic earth, rising up
on its hind legs to show off its large vocabulary,
or some lover in a myth who is metamorphosed into a book.

It means treasury, but it is just a place
where words congregate with their relatives,
a big park where hundreds of family reunions
are always being held,
house, home, abode, dwelling, lodgings, and digs,
all sharing the same picnic basket and thermos;
hairy, hirsute, woolly, furry, fleecy, and shaggy
all running a sack race or throwing horseshoes,
inert, static, motionless, fixed and immobile
standing and kneeling in rows for a group photograph.

Here father is next to sire and brother close
to sibling, separated only by fine shades of meaning.
And every group has its odd cousin, the one
who traveled the farthest to be here:
astereognosis, polydipsia, or some eleven
syllable, unpronounceable substitute for the word tool.
Even their own relatives have to squint at their name tags.

I can see my own copy up on a high shelf.
I rarely open it, because I know there is no
such thing as a synonym and because I get nervous
around people who always assemble with their own kind,
forming clubs and nailing signs to closed front doors
while others huddle alone in the dark streets.

I would rather see words out on their own, away
from their families and the warehouse of Roget,
wandering the world where they sometimes fall
in love with a completely different word.
Surely, you have seen pairs of them standing forever
next to each other on the same line inside a poem,
a small chapel where weddings like these,
between perfect strangers, can take place.

I Told You I Was Ill

I'm lying on a cold wet slab,
I seem unable to breathe,
Is it because I smoked too much?
That thought just makes me seethe.

The pathologist said as he went in,
The cause of death I think,
Is the fact this guy smoked far too much?
He also enjoyed his drink.

I'm trying my best to answer back,
I want to make it clear,
That what he's saying is rubbish,
I should not be lying here.

I've never felt like this before,
Could someone tell me why?
Is it something that I've said?
I didn't ask to die.

The last thing I remember was,
Sipping whisky and having a smoke,
As I inhaled my cigarette,
I started to bloody choke.

As I stood up to clear my throat,
My chest felt really sore,
I careered at speed across the room,
Then landed on the floor

I then looked down upon myself,
As I lay flat on my back,
The people all around me said,
Of breath there is a lack.

As my relatives stand over me,
They're saying I look quite void,
What do they expect of me,
To be looking overjoyed.

One of them said he's now at peace,
He's looking really well,
I'm dead you stupid imbecile,
I hope you rot in hell.

I cannot move my arms or legs,
I'm feeling pretty rigid,
My wife is telling all out loud,
I told you he was frigid.

I Don't Think

I didn’t think at that time what was is in store,
Life seemed very hard and bore,
No doubt and sure of reaching shore,
Easy going and no ground to explore,

Surrounded by many with everything on hand,
Luxurious and easy going life with vast fertile land,
Parent too busy to crave for future and collecting only wealth,
Their only concern was keeping in me in good health,

I was to inherit very huge empire,
All relatives used words with satire,
I too was happy with entire business
Parent may go off the scene and live with easiness

Why Should I worry about things around?
Everything looked so and very sound,
Smooth running and nothing wrong was to be found,
Gaining inch by inch everyday and not loosing the ground,

Soon I was to emerge on new scene,
Witnessing the world which was never seen,
Facing the odds with ups and down in between,
Shrug it off with determined push and was very keen,

Life may not move well as desired,
Life style was dull and bore and could not be admired,
Some new ways were to be found and searched,
Goal may be difficult to achieve but surely to be reached,

It may so happen that I may not succeed but not fail either,
Storm may pass off weather may also wither,

On number of occasions

On number of occasion I was kissed by elders
There were cousin brothers and sisters
They will pick me and raise above ground
I was the only object for them to be found

They will call me by pet name
I will feel let down with shame
Even though it was freely used by all
I did not like it and did not answer by that call

Some of the beautiful girls too would come close and tease
They will try to play with me and make me feel at ease
Such family events were organized at good intervals
It was quite fun and amusement on all members’ arrival

I was notorious and give them some worry
I will touch dust and dirt and later on say sorry
They will not mind and rather pick me only to kiss on forehead
I was their favorite as little master and walked before them or ahead

I tried to understand the feeling behind such lovely kisses
I would rub of the cheeks as soon as they would finish
I was forcefully made to surrender to their wishes
They would then turn their attention to the sweet dishes

Such powerful gathering can be found only in family occasions
All are cordially invited to be the part of the memorable functions
It could be marriage anniversary, birth day or some wedding
It will be with great fun fare and in mood of completely celebrating

In this atmosphere I missed mother’s kisses and affection
She had altogether different approach with mild action
She will pick and take me among the relatives
I will enjoy later on and mix among all with love

It was not because she was mother hence I missed
It was different approach and way that she kissed
She had nothing to show her love to anybody
It was for all to see and judge as I was not somebody

Small kids are always centre of attraction
They are liked for their way of talking and manner less action
I was small kid in comparison with all
I was getting attention as they will push me for fall

Mother would watch me from the distance
She will always keep me before her eyes or presence
She will take full care to see that I am not harmed by anybody
She will often ask and indicate to daddy

To read a person

You won’t know a person even if you stay close for years
Some of treachery talks won’t be liked even by your ears
It is very unfortunate that some of the things happen
Verbal exchange takes place and rivalry all of sudden sharpen

It is human psychology that is at work for the moment
It runs in all the direction and try to be seized with movement
It cultivates all kinds of relation and alliance enter into
That is beauty of kind heart that attempts to prove it true

From the surface or appearance it may look so sound
It may be successful when explored to with some fresh ground
It takes even longer time than expected to gain with fresh round
Ultimately it is gone through and journey is onward bound

But it is plain truth also that you may come across many
Some may be well off and some maybe starving of money
They may try to come closer for seeking some favor
You got to make some adjustment somewhat major or minor

It is common fact that we are basically very selfish
The whole life cycle is based on “perform or perish’
The small fish is killed by bigger one to survive
We also compromise little in life to survive

This is practical aspect of one side
Its impact is known to all and very wide
We can’t retain everything and successfully hide
We need some one very close to confide

This creates some sort of safety and security
It makes one feel confident and improve upon quality
In doing so you may need whole hearted cooperation from all
The close ones may include relatives, friends with long duration

It is unfortunate that sometimes we err in recognizing the fact
Some of the odds faced by us are coming from treacherous acts
That may be caused by close relatives or from staunch friends
This will ultimately wrack us and bring a vitiated end

Whole confidence is shaken and taken over by mistrust
Some bold steps needs to be necessitated and are must
Nothing comes to help at critical time when they are needed most
You are sunk for no fault and pushed to the corner almost

What important role you play or contemplate?
How do you overcome it and confidently relate?
It is balancing act arising from very table mind
Not hatred but love is essential to be seen as very kind

Do not disturb the cemetery guard

Do not disturb the cemetery guard
He is in charge of your after life chart
Just lie down, silent and deep in your grave below
And do not yell, stir or ask for a furlough

I know how much you yearn
To know what has become
While you were in your coffin forgotten for some
Or see your relatives and the neighbors
And check their toils, hardship or labors
But you are new in eternity, so much to observe and learn

I know how much you earnestly crave
To burst out to the air from this grave
To you it will be a sense of human generous just
To leave behind, if for a moment all this decay and dust

A repeat may be just for one more time
Grab your books bag in a child prime
And rush in fresh air morning without homework to school
And be rebuked by your teacher 'You dammed fool'

Oh, lie down in your gloom and let wise Nature work her will
And on your clay tomb her darnel will grow
In first years your relatives will visit you when days are bright and still
At your blemished headstone they will bow and whisper low
And tell you of their life, and events you have missed in the show

We all as humans of any color or faith
Hold common scorn and defame to eternal death
The creaking sound of cords lowering us down
As earth returns back to earth with no rising dawn

Just to Share Their Good Wishes

Often folks are depicted,
To be less influencial than they are.
Most times than none,
This is done by relatives and friends of some.
With a demeaning of one's character.
From an innocence that is done!

Now...
If the one who is victimized,
Wins the lottery...
Or some other monetary prize.
Relatives, friends and those unknown,
Expose themselves from beyond closed doors...
And everywhere else,
To make themselves known.

Just to share their good wishes!
And...
Of course a taste,
Of what for them they find delicious.

What Difference Does That Make?

What can anyone say to another,
When opportunities to have meaningful conversations...
Have been skipped to compare one's appearance,
To relatives, neighbors, pets and meaningless nonsense.

People have done this,
And for years make claims what they know.
When in actuality they know not a thing.
Not about the people they talk about or the surroundings.

And these are the folks who are expressing disbelief.
Whether it is about something done or what has been achieved,
Right next door.
Or the kind of lifestyle a relative lives and not one perceived.

There are people who have complete conversations,
Discussing other people they have yet to meet.
And when they see them in the streets they give them attitude.
Without one word ever shared or a hand extended to greet.

What can anyone say to another,
When opportunities to have meaningful conversations...
Have been skipped to compare one's appearance,
To relatives, neighbors, pets and meaningless nonsense.

'Hello.
I'd like to introduce myself...
Since no one else has done it.
And I don't want to be like them.
I'd like to establish a process,
That has a start that progesses to a middle...
And grows to produce positivity that never ends.'

~You know I know you.
Stop playing around.~

'What's my real name?
Not my nickname.'

~What difference does that make?
We still gon' be related.
What's your real name anyway?
I never knew that.~

'And you say you know me?
How? '
