Lenexa Baptist Church = Serving God Is Not For Sissies

SERVING GOD IS NOT FOR SISSIES

Serving God is not for sissies
But for those with commitment of heart.
As troubles arise to test our resolve
From faith we must refuse to part.

Evil hungers to separate are souls from God
And have us respond like apes in a tree.
Through trust, love, faith and compliance
We are blessed and fortified by Thee.

All Heaven’s heroes had their issues,
None become righteous without pain.
They prayed to God to be delivered
As the faithful were ridiculed or slain.

Nothing has changed since Adam and Eve
Humans are the most unpredictable of Earth.
Faith gives us hope through love, and devotion
As the power of God’s Will elevates our worth.

OUR SHEPHERD WITHIN

We find ourselves in the darkest valleys
When circumstances place us there.
Spiritual warfare, our own rebellion
And the acts of others unfair.

Every valley is a passageway
Rather than just a destination,
Eventually difficulties will pass on
As God controls all creation.

The deeper the valley, the greater the work
We are able to accomplish through pain.
God is more pleased by our character
Than our comfort or the reasons we complain.

By the Grace of God, we always have hope
For you and I have a Devine Shepherd within.
Guiding, comforting and strengthening
Protecting the faithful from the futility of sin.

The Brothers Cup

Give it up to this planet full of strife
We're the brothers cup cuttin' sharp as a knife
With the pop of a snap and the flip of a flap
The cups went up like a natural fact

It was our shoulder space
That made the perfect place
For the magic of the cup
To style out with grace
With a tight turn twist
And a slight swerve swank
The brothers cup kissed
With a kick ass clank

We are the brothers cup
We like to get it up
We are the brothers cup
We like to get it up

Give it up to this planet full of strife
We're the brothers cup cuttin' sharp as a knife
With the pop of a snap and the flip of a flap
The cups went up like a natural fact

So love all your brothers
And love all your sisters
Love all the misses
And love all the misters
Don't be shy when you're sharin' your kisses
The brothers cup kiss
And we ain't sissies

It is our notion that the perfect peace potion
Can be found in the wake of the green sea's motion
The long rocking swell of the mighty blue ocean
Is the cradle of peace it's the perfect peace motion

Give it up to this planet full of strife
We're the brothers cup cuttin' sharp as a knife

With the power of the cup we are about to astound
All your preconceptions they will come unbound
We are the brothers cup coming to your town
Bringing tubs of love we're going to spread it around

Kerry is an adult - he thinks things through. He learns from the present as well as the past. To George Bush, thinking things through is for sissies.

The Eye Of The Storm

Maybe you bought all the lines that she told you
Maybe they tore you apart
Maybe she shrugged off your finest emotions
Carelessly walked on your heart
Life aint for sissies and you aint no sissy, boy
And only the strongest survive
Bad love is better than no love at all
At least you know youre alive.
Chorus:
And just thank God you still got your feelings
And youre free to be easy and warm
But from here to the end is what matters, my friend
And youre right at the peak of your form
Still in the eye of the storm
Maybe you tried somethin too hard to handle
And maybe you took you a fall
Is it true that if not for the pain that youre feelin
It wouldnt have mattered at all?
(tell the truth)
All there is left between living and dying
Is loving or leaving alone
You can take it or leave it, but make up your mind
Or fall on your ass on your own
Chorus:
And just thank God you still got your feelings
And youre free to be easy and warm
cause from here to the end is what matters, my friend
And youre right at the peak of your form
Still in the eye of the storm.

C-C-Civilization

Our ancestors must be rolling in their graves right now
Could they only see what has begotten of mankind:
Unself-respecting descendants in suits and skirts
Armed with pointless words stabbing each other on the backs
Drawing no blood but in their maiden thoughts
Afraid, shy deceivers... Lead in the communal water
Poisoning no one but themselves
Too bad we're still as resilient as they were.
Like cockroaches. Just without the balls.
Draw, you sissies!

Autumn Alma Mater

feels like lonely chilly autumn
leaves thrown asunder
ruffling the calm of lake
falling, scattering
all over your feet
each pace that you take

grasses dance feverishly
while sparing birds' songs
work an echo in a soul
still looking for a place
in his alma mater

the old brass bell that long ago
held our hearts and mind,
fervently accompanied us through
every minute of school still hangs -
a solid air of authority -
a no nonsense master
recognising nothing
except the hourly call
to each new lesson, new knowledge

the rows of crimson classes
still stand with quiet open doors
there, shadows of chairs
and tables gently cast
their geometric lines
the only element here
still at constant with my heart
a filamen that soothes
those yesteryears
I was shadow of shadows

the blackboards beckon
holding gently at an attitude
that stamp of infinity
when it comes to learning

the fiery glow of the setting sun
on the window panes
reflects those waves
of alma mater sentiments
and attachments tugging
at my heartstrings
a zither maestro
beating out his song

dedicated teachers
straight As geniuses

From Behind Floral Skirts

They will come to accuse anyone,
Of being...
Less of the person than they are!
That's the tactic that is used,
To confuse the issue with their voices heard.

They would wish others to perceive,
One who attempts to do anything...
As weak and naïve.
When they are the ones,
Jealous and corrupted with ignorance.

And...
They have proven how deep,
The flowing of their surfacing insecurities.
So shallow...
As to destroy themselves with accusations.

Calling the doers 'punks' and sissies.
And they do this,
From a place of hiding not to reveal themselves.
Fearing their tears might be seen...
From behind floral skirts that provide,
That scent of protection needed to deceive.

The Screaming Mirror...

who wants to show pain?
no one wants to show it and be pitied

pity can kill
makes you shrink like
dough pressed
with a hammer

everyone wants to show a happy face on the road
people walk and
each smiles to
everyone

and when the back of the body
steals a distance

everyone is back to their serious faces again

twisted lips, crashing teeth
misshaped jaws
gnashing fingers

early that
evening

i show pain in the mirror
like the palms
of my hands

the mirror laughs
it is telling me it is not me
and i look funny with it

it says i do not fit well as a beggar of affection
it teases me
the way sissies sashay on the
shiny tiles of the
malls

that when in pain i look like a liar
an old Pinocchio
with a broken wooden nose
reaching the door
from the arm
of my chair
to the hands of the
railing

i insist that this time it is true
my tears are rolling like a river on the tributaries of my cheeks

A Tryst with the Terrorist

The Prologue

'The terrorist began to speak...'
'How can a terrorist talk
When his only words are bombs? '
'Well, he did speak all the same...
In my haunted dreams, of course:

The Monologue

Does a lion dialogue with his prey?
He just charges and strikes his quarry.
Why should I tarry?
I'd simply finish off
Anyone whose face I detest.
I should be the master
Of all I survey.

The universe is for man alone
Strongest of them only reign here
The rest have no place,
So them I'll put to rest.
I am the only best
To decide what is right.

One thought only should do the rounds
In the world
And that should be mine
I'm a one-track hero.

Sword is mightier than word
Force is greater than friendliness
Terrorism is superior to humanism
This is my credo
I'm an iconoclast.

A single sweep of sword
Puts my enemy down;
Words would take eons
Yet might not change my foe.
I can't be patient
I'm a bloodhound in a hurry.

Anyway, words are damned duds
They are for sissies
Who have time to waste
I am a he-man of deeds.

I take my victims off guard
And hit them on the sly
