The Reflex (feat. Ben Lee)

Ben Lee: You've gone too far this time
Both: But I'm dancing on the Valentine
Ben Lee: I tell you somebody's fooling around
Both: With my chances on the dangerline
Both: I cross that bridge when I find it
Another day to make my stand, oh
High time is no time for deciding
If I should find a helping hand, oh
Both: So why don't you use it
Try not to bruise it
Buy time don't lose it
Both: The reflex is an only child
He's waiting in the park
The reflex is a jaw-defining
Treasure in the dark
Kylie Minogue: I'm getting off this ride
Both: But they won't slow down on the roundabout
Kylie Minogue: I sold the Renoir and the TV set
Both: Don't wanna be around when this gets out
Both: So why don't you use it
Try not to bruise it
Buy time don't lose it
Both: The reflex is an only child
He's waiting in the park
The reflex is a jaw-defining
Treasure in the dark
Both: Watching over lucky clover
Isn't that bizarre
Every little thing the reflex does
Leaves your answer with a question mark
Both: The reflex is an only child
He's waiting in the park
The reflex is a jaw-defining
Treasure in the dark
Both: Watching over lucky clover
Isn't that bizarre
Every little thing the reflex does
Leaves your answer with a question mark
Both: The reflex, what a game
He's hiding all the cards
The reflex is a jaw-defining
Treasure in the dark

People are always defining and re-defining music. My style of playing has been characterized as smooth jazz and acid jazz. I listen as I play; I'm not caught up in defining the type of music I play.

Tis Breath, Then...

tis breath, then...
wrought with infinite longing,
that called light from darkness,
and being from non-being.
that, spent as wind,
calling forth waves from oceans,
calling forth land from water,
blowing dry and forming.

tis breath, then...
calling male and female to join.
calling trees and mountains to tangle.
defining hill and valley,
both far and near.
calling forth fire from imagination,
calling thought from inertness.
calling music from stillness.

tis breath, then...
calling tribe unto tribe.
creating gods from reflection.
calling souls from dead bones,
naming names, defining eternity,
calling forth desire, hunger, and wonder.
calling forth construction and ambition...
calling forth ego!

Entwined In Concepts

Both of their minds were entwined in concepts of relationships.
Wanting their own to be one that was perfect.
And defining that with having good credit.
With things believed that would keep them in bliss.

And when these 'things' began to lose their sheen...
Less interest in themselves slowly could be seen.
The need to constantly be together became a non-necessity.
With a wish to be alone in one's own space.
In a place the other was either invited...
Or not invited to be.

And a love between them,
Although expressed...
Was missed.
Leaving dreams and desires,
To be held and kissed...
Becoming less obsessive.
And often dismissed.

As those things cherished gathered dust with time.
There was an emptiness felt!
And invited.
Under one roof where no happiness once there,
For them.
No longer, for them, they could find!

Yet and regretfully...
Both of their minds were entwined in concepts of relationships.
Wanting their own, they did, to be one that was perfect.
And defining that with having good credit.
Loans and debts could not keep this correct.
With things believed that would keep them in bliss.
Gone was 'that' and any remnants of happiness.

And when their credit became less than good.
They found themselves in arguments...
Blaming the other for a wasted life spent.
And agreeing to split is what they should do,
To prove this less the expensive.

With a being together for them now making less sense.
As they express to others,
They've done the best they could.
But a love to make better wasn't theirs to save.
Nor was it there from the beginning!
And this had been the costly mistake they made!

Disparity

Why do we call it disparity?
Do we fail and lack clarity?
Or merely feel it is charity,
what is the answer for parity?

We never stooped below and sank,
some smarts get together and call it think tank,
we have divergent views and live in opposite bank
never try to find out why are we so frank?

Alas! God had some ideas coming very late,
but we recreated it and added hate
still not think it improper and appreciate,
human values so down and depreciated,

Can we not remain one and swim?
blame no one and just pray only HIM
do our duty and not miss the object prime,
think not different and consider it crime,

Are we not fully dedicated yet?
Still we claim ourselves a disciplined lot?
Cool not down when it is too hot,
think so old and continue to rot,

Has God created different world for us?
Why do we think then so thus?
Are we just slaves in our own home?
And we pray none but dead in dome

when you march and think of none?
Make best efforts to see work well done,
Diamonds may come but unfinished from mines
we polish it and shape on different lines?

Do we breathe separate fresh air?
Do stars appear always in pair?
Why do we fight and always dare?
Do we deny HIM and not just care?

Together we fight rank along tank,
dont see ground, river or bank,
Shed blood for honor and holy cause,
why then there be any deliberate pause?

Are we not confusing and defining?
Drawing it wrong and only redefining,
Still time is left there not to confine,
it stands for those who combat and combine,

State of Emergency

Vacant minds.
Fat behinds.
Gossiped innuendos,
As rampant as crime...
Defining today's times!
Pesty racists.
Bigotry freed.
Bleeding done by everyone,
To spread fed philosophies.

It's a state of emergency,
Declared, announced and condoned!
A state of emergency inflicted on humanity.
Forget about peace!
There is none on the horizon...
Whether sunrise or sunset shown!

Answer Answered

So many things
you thought were fantasy
I knew were fact.
So many things
you think are fact
are as yet unproven.

You seek to understand
all that you would know.
You learn absolute truths
in your quest for wisdom.

Do you not know
absolute truths
may fall;
become mear spectres
apparitions of perceived reality
that never was?

(Scientific Muses In Contemplation)

Scientifically, microscopically, focused,
cold grey light probing proof discovery.
Rendering past esteemed dusty theories.
Now void useless; obsolete fictions. Laughable dictions.
Haunting fragments, preconceived normality,
unhinged by startling winds, forcing Ferris Wheel change.

Haunting fragments of normality
unhinged by bellows winds of rekindled time.

Theories hypothesizes kaleidoscopes
are but, slippery stepping stones.
To time variant future.
Paving rocky road, to acquired knowledge.
Theory leads forwards sideways; in
circles to technological nowheres?

Mutant seeds born of space
watered to grow or die.
Vaguely seen in shamrock crystals;
transforming objective existence.
Yet in themselves, theories
may say signify, nothing?

Conceived as real
in perceptions of present.
The interpretations, of onrushing
morrow, so seldom apparent.
Upon the morrow,

Decision Making

Noble art of decision making is
an adaptation of an orderly
assemblage of data;
as source material obtained through
discrete or non-discrete systems.

Chaos exists as raw material
from which order is superimposed.
Order is a product of species interaction;
which consists of hierarchy between
differing species and within species.

Order is an institution which we create
ourselves; impose for universal advancement.
Truth is perceived as a series of revelations;
filtered through contemporary
conceptions defining truthsense.

If true quality is distilled true statement
attained; conformity adherence to law
is assured; integrity loyalty is guarantied;
pledging of security is prime guarantor.

There are therefore rarely, any unalterable
truths, generating dissension,
disagreement producing open conflict,
is indicator of corruptive disharmony.

Why a rational being
would belie life defies logic.
Explanation of such exhibited rational;
upon intensive investigation proves
not a scintilla of logic in prime evidence.

Accumulated wisdom and knowledge
are cultivated practiced formalized arts.
Requiring diligent symbiotic application.
True learning abhors staunch ignorance
a precocious maze by acolyte readily taken.

Life is divisible
divinely imposed order
upon an endless recycling of cells;
originating in cosmic
creation’s common star dust.

This aphorism is a concise formulaic rational
simplistically defining the meaning of life.

Certain Knowledge Know

I. Journeys through Diversity defining Life

There is something rather sad
about people those poor compelled people,
who have somehow unseen silent become,
wanders over face of siren earth.

Especially when they have become old
when they are alone, worn, torn, and old.
Especially alone, when weathered worn old
as I now suddenly become amazingly old.

It touches my enveloping heart
with old haunting memories,
due to an ancient inheritance
an intense wandering quest spirit,
mixed within my celestial nature.

For I was born old
yet lingering scent, craving curiosity,
kept life’s hardships,
new intriguing about harsh edges.

Barely enough
a desire to perceive know,
motivates tired
emotions inquisitiveness,
discovery no rarity.

Makes for a strange
rich personage,
some even stranger,
chance bedfellows.

But what journeys
journeys through
diversity defining life.

Life’s been a fated warp fabric
so many loose threads,
running through mists,
merging cyclic link bound time.

Soon traverse must wane,
decline fade waver,
with encroaching onset age.

Because the results are expressed in numbers, it is easy to make the mistake of thinking that the intelligence test is a measure like a foot ruler or a pair of scales. It is, of course, a quite different sort of measure. Intelligence is not an abstraction like length and weight; it is an exceedingly complicated notion - which nobody has yet succeeded in defining.
