View from Mount Royal
Concrete slabs
Costs that rise
Clank of doors
Purr of cars,
Walking feet
Voices hard
Fifteen below
Drinking barred.
Life is the same from over here
Just as fast and just as dear,
Not quite as cosy but somewhat freer,
Life is the same from over here.
Lightweight suits
Deodorant smells
Mint flavoured gum
Advertising that sells,
Coffee's a dime
Life is a ball
The dollar's almighty
But due for a fall.
The world's the same from over here
Partially lost in a mist that's clear
Revolving eternally within a sphere
The world's the same from everywhere.
