Pity this love

I don't trust anyone.
Not even me.

Then why should I trust my heart,
that wakes up with a start
every time you come around.
Why should I trust
the pulsating veins that bear its thrust.
why should I trust the hint of a smile,
in your eyes.
why should I trust?

The sweating forehead puzzles me now
and the shy burns that prickle your skin,
the way you roll your eyes
and keep up conversations, befuddles me.
What are these feelings
that come knocking in the middle of a sweaty dream,
come so suddenly that they scare me
and bind me in hours of fruitless apprehensions.
should I believe what they tell me?
That I love you and you do too

But I don't trust anyone.
Not even me.
