Paupers Prayer. By Sonam Bhutia

Underneath the roof of welkin…

Strangely titled a pauper, there strive.

Every nook and roads knew his abode.

Flesh enfolded with the

Garments, of chill.

His hunger obliterated

By the morsel of illusion…

Upon the concrete couch,

Mends his ramshackle dreams.

Withered lips singing an elegy

Every now and again…

Cursing, regretting and brooding

To a hollow destiny of his…

Rambling in the glory of fantasy,

That would never last long

As snow flakes on a river.

Melancholy prays he

In an isolation often…

O! Doom, I beseech thou overcome,

Dispel a worthless life of mine.

For every moment seems encumbrance to me.
