Mother, How Hath Thou?

Today is another commemoration of your exit
A day that has always been inscribed inside me
That day that even angels regard with amusements
The lone day that you bade us farewell
And glorily trod the stares heavenward
Leaving us heart broken and without squeals
Yet you had to go and be crowned

Your leaving was a thorn in our flesh
Very sorrowful moments in our souls and hearts
Teary seasons, dark nights and gloomy days
That day you left us is still as new as yesterday
Just as sure as our tongues can pronounce
And as true as darkness and day exist
But your leaving was a turning point for us

Mother, you were our sole goddess on earth
The only refuge for a suckling toddler
And the protégé to provide much sought warmth
The lone eagle to lift in times of distress
The provider of guidance and a roost to rest
But mother, your time came too soon to be evaded
Yet you had to go and be crowned

As hearts are bowed today for your memorial
Our prayers unisonly directed to Almighty God
Our souls all united in peace of your loins
Let glad tidings, peace of God and His love
Yes, all that pertains to God and His holiness
Guide us and lead us, all the way heavenward
Before we also lay and say farewell to mother earth
