Mantis Oh! green mantis
Have you ever seen ants?
Yes, I have seen armies, on march in the fields
Carrying food to stores
But I do always keep away
Or I would also be carried away!

Have you ever seen antlions?
Yes I have seen many, lurking in their pits
Throwing up sand at times
But I do always keep away
Or I would also be thrown sand anyway!
Mantis Oh! green mantis
Have you ever seen elephants?
Yes, I have seen herds, nibbling in the woods
Blowing nose at times
But I do always keep away
Or I would also be blown off anyway!
Mantis Oh! green mantis
Have you ever seen us babes?
Yes, I have seen groups, of you naughty kids
Chasing butterflies
But I do always keep away
Or I would also be chased away!
