And Then?
I would dress warmly
For wintery days
Wear a hat when they
Predicted rain
And still come home soaked
And I would think
‘And then? ’
I would call you
You wouldn’t answer
I sighed and stayed quiet for a while
And I would think
‘And then? ’
It would storm heavily
And I would listen to the breaking leaves
The spring day would become
The theme of a piano ballad
The death of the sun in seasons’ tears
And I thought
‘And then? ’
I saw the only photo of us
Looking opposite ways
I would smile in quietness again
And think
‘What would happen anyway? ’
I sighed and stayed quiet for a while
Waiting for someone to tell me
To wake up again
And then I would think
- As I always do -
‘And then? ’
