An Elegy For My Best Friend

To David Douglas, middle name Wayne
The guy I knew from down the lane.
Who took his life with his father's coat.
Now I wonder: Does he burn or float?
He will never see the light of day
Or feel the warmth of the sun's rays.
He will never cry another tear
Or have to face his biggest fear.
He will never marry the love of his life
The one to call his darling wife.
I'll stop before I get real teary
But, my best friend David, I'll miss you dearly.
