A Mixed Life
My appearance as a “child of the light”
Comforts them,
And rests their awareness of
“Children of the dark.”
I appeal to both, suitably.
Even the presence of one “child of the dark”
Is not enough to
Keep their snickers from surfacing.
Without notice, their remarks offend
As well as portend
Lack of respect
Towards the dark children of God.
My dark self notices,
And is unsure
Whether to
Laugh at their indifference,
Or learn from it.
