When Someone Dies
When someone dies
A piece of you goes missing, as if it has also died
When somethings lost
Something that belonged to that loved one now gone
You are left
Alone in a room full of unnamed things that have no meaning
It is as if the light has gone out
From the room
Where you stand waiting
All day and all night
For the heart of your loved one to return
Untouched unharmed
Alive again,
As if reborn
The thing that was lost
The heart that beats inside of you
Returning as suddenly
As the day that it left
