To The Dusk

She returned
to the dusk,

so many often do

Daybreak,
an
eternity away

The
season of
wine and song,
longing and laughter
had become
dull in thought

Forever remembrances
weren't
hollow words.

But time
has it's own idea
of the memories
which remain

Struggling recollections
beg for clarity.
but her heart
knows of the lust,
and long forgotten desire

Truth
retains integrity
of eternal intent

Time and age
have the advantage
of knowing
what is best for the heart

But it's the heart
which knows what is
best for the soul.
