Thanks We Give
We must give thanks
though our pockets are bare
We must give thanks
we must show we care
I will try to explain
though I fear I may not
Why give thanks
when nerves are in a knot
Read on if you will
and if by chance at the end
You feel the same way
then my words, I resend
Give a can of green beans
as they are a smile from a child
A simple bag of potatoes
is thoughts running wild
A can of cranberries
may be a hug from a friend
A package of dinner rolls
may seem like love with no end
And what about stuffing
it is what we do on this day
Every stomach should be stuffed
I hope we all feel this way
A butter ball turkey
so many mouths it may feed
A big pumpkin pie
could be a friend in need
If only one verse
touched you in some way
Then your heart gave thanks
or at least, I would say
So please give thanks
and ask that others do the same
Someone's life maybe touched
and yes you, maybe to blame
