Fire Dying In The Grate
Immemorial fire invoking fading light
flickers in fabled fireplace
while orange enlivened embers
glow with lost golden lore;
harking back memories long lost,
in mediaeval mists to modern humanity;
within fading fire in the time lost grate
within mystic mind did memory meet.
Past elfin magic encompassing firelight
captured my curious childhood soul
still empowers me with modern fairy-tales
to enchant sterile still distant ages;
for fairy-tale song I embellish enflesh,
sing secrets, encrystallize human souls;
for it is not merely mythical lack cat
that stares into indeterminate point of space.
