the light was shining on your face
as i walked down the stairs
we kissed an settled in an embrace
tasting the morning air
early as early need ever be
i wiped the dew from your brow
and watched as you walked away from me
engaging the turnstile
the cops began to clop away
as i hop up the stairs
how lucky could one man ever be
as lucky as one could care
