Red And White Stripes

At the club, I knew straight off you meant something to me,
From the moment you turned around and showed me that look
Which surprised me and how you made that acceptance-shrug
Pleased me greatly, and suddenly my heart and I were stuck.

This hadn't been done before. You were the first to do so.
Not like all the previous girls, you didn't spit me a no.
You were dancing with your friends, your hair shone like a star.
And because you agreed to kiss me, only you were the best by far.

I remember loosening up and making my move forward.
I instantly appreciated your state of mind; you were different to all the others.
And by being different to all the others, I mean you didn't find this awkward.

Our kiss was magical, my mood was nostalgical.
I enjoyed the taste of your saliva and tongue
As Black Eyed Peas' 'I Gotta Feelin'' was what my mind had sung.
Though, in that moment, this was not the song that played.
I wish I'd remembered what it was; no one ever said.

In that special moment, boys and girls danced, disco-lights spun,
Music blared aloud in our ears, and there was no doubt all were having fun.
I never got your name, nor had we together said a word.
I'll always remember you as the girl in the top of red and white stripes,
And, though it's been a long time, never in my memory has your face ever blurred.

I'd never seen you before then, I don't think I will anymore.
You're still the reason it was my best birthday ever.
High praise to who had brought us together: Jack my friend.
We shared a moment that will last to the end.
For me anyway.
