River 'Savitri

River ‘Savitri' is flowing in silent bounds
as a gift from above, and with plenty of rains
lush green fields, the KONKAN stretch is lucky
for its people never have seen the rivers dead dry floors

Living here is peaceful, safe, calm and slow
as if tired of many a battle fought and won
no drought, famine nor floods or storms
Nature is kindly - the land is well secure in its arms

If you are strictly a believer in God
look around - the ‘pahad' is full of his abodes
M ‘baleshwar, Srivardhan, Sahyadri, Harihareshwar
& many are his resorts
none other the place, compares in passion of this sort

………..in the moonlight, all alone and in the late night
The spirit of Chatrapathi comes for a stroll by the riverside;
the waters that touch him, is thrilled, rejoiced and kindled
having washed his feet, they go gushing and roaring

consider if, Chatrapathi is to come home, alive again
will it be feasible to give him his throne away
No chance …..we have grown into different order of the day
we may treat him with pomp, big rally, little pension -
but, no rights to govern again

‘Savitri' is flowing down wearingly all along and is in wait;
preserving the gene (of the Maharaj) in its deepest womb
it has a message to the locals, who daily drink from it
to give birth to a line of warriors, in true succession of mighty Hero

when you happen to look at the river from now
you will read its cries, tears and sorrow
In-between its waters, both silent and violent alike

River ‘Savitri' is flowing in silent winds
with full of hopes - and plenty of gene in its unseen bowls.
