Indecent proposal
Come live with me
and be my love?
What does this mean,
how rare?
I am no chattel
for to keep,
Could I, in fact
be spared?
Come live with me,
and be my love,
two turtle doves
indeed!
How dare he ask,
how dare he try
to make a wife
of me.
He offers me his heart
and yet,
ne'er asks
if I love too.
I find him
rather sly…..
and far too plain,
to tell the truth.
I'm sure I'd have to
mend and do
and I,
a lady fair.
It seems to me
his promises
are frivolous
and snared.
