The Tragedy Wrought To An Innocent Boy

When she longed to do a P.G. course,
Along with her friends in a Deemed Varsity,
Her parents thwarted her plan
and arranged to betrothe her to a boy,
working abroad, promising some jewellery.
Fate brought the groom back home
but the marriage was solemnized,
as he was capable of finding a job in the Gulf.
For what purpose, she convinced her hubby
to use safety covers to nix conceiving,
she and her parents alone knew.

In the first week of connubial life,
She got the bracelet from him for wearing
and told him it was misplaced at her father’s house.
The groom and his parents ignored it.
Then she made a row urging her in-laws
to spend for her higher studies.
When the nod was not given,
she started ructions with her mother-in-law.
In a month, she roused her husband
to blame his parents for not sending him
to a foreign university for higher studies.
Her cryptic words about her brief life with him
never alerted or sparked off a doubt in them.

When the boy was not warring with his parents,
She defied him to get some lakhs from them
for visiting London to hunt for a job.
As she failed to make his hackles up,
she kicked up a brawl to fetch him out
and live somewhere afar.
“ We can live in separation in our house”,
the groom said with guts;
sensing dangers in the coming days.
“ Live in my father’s house as a tenant,
go abroad and send your ‘dinars’ to my father’s account”,
she dictated in the presence of some mediators,
who came often to get justice for her.

Her plot to amputate him from his parents
and to get his share of wealth from them
was miscarried and she lost her patience.
Fate threw light on her meager quantity of jewels
than what was promised. Some fake gold was also found.
She went berserk and rushed back to her father’s house
with a warning to pay heed to what she says.
The poor boy became sleepless and so were all.
He was invited for Diwali festival and snubbed
For not being at least a sentinel at the IT Park.
When the boy was awaiting her in his house,
she preferred a complaint of cheating
and harassment for dowry.
That heinous act alarmed the groom’s parents
who were public servants, to lose some lakhs and flee.
Fate flew him out at once to work in the Gulf
and rise again from a life crashed.
He married again after a few years and has a boy.
She was waiting for a call from her boyfriend
with newly bought jewels and a lumpsome,
given as life-time maintenance.
Now she is casting her net to catch a boy unwary.
May her tribe increase to dazzle and fizzle the poor boys!
