You Didn't Disappoint
The fact that I can't breathe
Doesn't remind me that I'm alive
It reminds me
Why I died inside
It was good
The dullness
It was protective
So, what if I existed as only driftwood
At least I was moving
Drifting from spot to spot
Traversing large bodies of water
Not feeling a thing
I had no moisture penetrating into my pores
Threatening my existence
What
Now
Now that every nerve ending screams with pain,
Exposed raw flesh..
Pour some more salt on..
Burns like acid..
My heart weeps blood
Large
Crimson
Droplets
Tap tap tap
Fall fall fall
It beats beats beats
Like the wings of a humming bird
As you break me
Remind me of my mortality
You hold my beating bleeding heart in your hands
And squeeze
The pressure is blinding
Someone's screaming and it's deafening
I've fallen to my knees
Can you stop now
I don't feel anything anymore
I'm fossilized
Encased in an amber shell
I'm back to being broken
I know this place
I won't get lost here
I won't be disappointed.
