I've been thinking
About you
About me

That is Us

That isn't
About what we may wish
About what can be
About what can't be

I do my best to
Maintain my self
Do my best to hide
How I really feel

I have to say
Friend of mine
You sure don't make it easy on me
Letting me know
In your own special way
You're not kidding
And, you think of me every day
It always brings
A smile to my face

But

I've been thinking
Of the who I am
Of the me that is… me
Of the me that isn't

What makes you think
If you needed me
I wouldn't be
There for you?
You have to know
That's not true
Would never be

However,

I find myself
Looking at the circumstances
Wondering
How we came to be
Where we are
Where we aren't
That place where we'll probably never reach

Friend of mine
I think of you
Every day
When
I ought not to
I wonder about your days
As I go about mine

I've been thinking
About you
About me
About how we became
The you
The me
That we seem to be

If I haven't taken
The opportunity
To appropriately
Convey to you
All that you mean

Just Know
I always think
Of all that you are
All that I appreciate in you
I can see all the potential
Of all you can be
You have to know
I believe in you
All that you can and will achieve

But,
I'm thinking
Friend of mine
Some dreams
Are meant to make us smile
But at the end of the day
They are just dreams
