Letter to A Friend
The problem is, friend of mine
Somewhere along the way
You became...
Somehow,
Important to me.
The problem with that is..
There is a problem with that
And, I don't want to contemplate what it could mean.
So,
I push at it.
And
Shove it away.
I stomp on it
Trying to make it..
While
Simultaneously
Afraid it will break.
This
Whatever
It is..
I know we've been dancing around it
The giant pink elephant in the room.
But,
It can't be me..
Won't be.
You'll have to take that first giant step.
And, please..
Make it an obvious one.
Because all this tip toeing around it
Has me confused.
What if I have the audacity to assume too much?
What if I'm reading into some harmless fun?
What if it's all in jest?
The problem, you see
Is I may want it to be..
And, I'm afraid of where all this may
Or
May not lead.
The problem is, friend of mine
I miss you, when you aren't around.
And think of you and the time we spent..
And, wish I was there all over again.
The problem is, friend of mine
I seriously don't know what to do..
In this situation that is
Or isn't
With this unspoken thing
This tug of war
With me and you.
