Perseverence

Sharing
A one room
Tenement,
He toiled
When the family slept.

He sat
On the kitchen floor,
And did his calculations
On the bare floor,
With a piece of charcoal.

Calm resolve on his face,
Couldn’t care less
What the others
Had to say to demotivate.

He had a vision.
Dearth of means
Didn’t waver,
Him from his decision.

Despite ridicule,
He carried on with a smile.
Nothing could stop
Him from reaching the top.

Soon his time came,
He too had
A shot
At success and fame.
Taught his children
Hard work always pays.

Now
Everyone comes
To felicitate
And
Ask for favours.
