The Face
And the face I wear
won't stay the same
it changes
from day to day
so untamed
Either a smile
or frown
maybe a smug smirk
or an indifferent
expression
Someone will notice
someone always notices
the angle
of today's face
They look at my lips
and wonder
'Why didn't he smile
like yesterday? '
They appreciate my face
as a form of entertainment
But I swear,
one of these days
I'm going to forget my face
at home
and on the day that I do
will be the day
I'll appreciate it most
