White Halloween

Two days before the end of October, before Halloween,
A surprised snow storm surged like a mad queen,
Attacking the street lights, toying with the arms of the trees
To enrage the melancholic breeze
Of autumn, disrupting the mundane flows
Of rivers and the rhythmic pirouettes of the doves.

Oh! The sounds of the thunders
Mimicking the horrors
Of a dreadful season,
Which defied logic and reason!
Dracula and Mina were hanging out at the corner
Of the boulevard, where an elder
Recently lost the head
Of his masked doll.
A group of formerly dull
Teenagers decorated many windows,
And painted the feathers of the neighbors’ crows.
Hence all witnessed the dead
Roaming throughout the main mean street
Like escaped prisoners
Who fear neither ice nor sleet.

Two days before Halloween
It snowed like it was mid-winter.
That was a frigidly extemporaneous scene.
It was cold and spooky, and danger
Was at every curbside and corner.
That was awful and obscene.
The sidewalks were paved with black ice;
Mother Nature was neither seasonal, nor too nice.

The roaring sounds of the wind
Frightened the black cats, the white puppies,
And the striped black and white donkeys
That stumbled in the quick sand.
Great numbers of birds experienced an impromptu curfew,
And countless freeloaders were incarcerated
In the wintry coffer, inside the freezing pew.
Mother Nature was under attack
And her children lacked
Everything under the hiding sun,
Under the evil eye of a black moon.

The amputated trees looked like dead statues
After the apocalyptic passing of the ruthless wind.
A little birdie whispered that Mother Nature failed to pay her dues
Three years in a row. Humans will never be able to defend
Her, when she is in danger, when she is in trouble,
The passengers can only pray, remain calm and subtle.
Two days before the end of October, before Halloween,
A sneaky snow storm surprised the squirrels and the weathermen.
