The Heat Between Us
It is not too long ago
That we were swimming
And diving deep in a heated pool
Of passion; a reminder of a first day of school,
Where all the marbles fell into place: the ego,
The joy and the happiness
Of two hearts sharing
And loving each other;
Two eggs enjoying
The warmth of a nest;
Away from a cool April's shower,
Under a large thatch.
Time came and swiftly snatched
Far away from us, the hot flavor
That once ignited the combustion motor
Of our inner feelings.
For Heaven's sake,
The pool is now a wondrous lake;
Let's go back and let the stings
Of the past rekindle the old memories,
So we can enjoy again the cherries,
The strawberries and the kisses,
The fruity wines and the tropical dishes.
The heat between us will not fade away
Again; even when
The hibernal winds return another day.
