To Have You Next To Me
Distant love
Makes us both cry;
So many disturbing tears
Fall like dying stars
Void of promise
And illumination.
If I were to have sex
With a beautiful stranger tonight,
My heart would only die;
I don’t want to taste the breath
Of any other woman
In your absence.
In a simple dream,
You entwine my arm
Through autumn streets,
I feel the coolness of the breeze,
We kiss on South Main
In front of a bookstore;
We wind our way
To a coffee shop
Or a wine boutique,
And I feel like a king
To have you next to me.
