The modern critic
You are the coolest
Monkey
Jumping on my gullibility
I tried to put on my ears
Back alive in my head
Reviewing my raucous listening
Of your underpinning
I put on the face of the gargoyle
To frighten you
Yet you keep rolling
On the vines of my hair
I try to be academic
But I have become moot
And so hypothetical
I tried Victorian poetry
To repel you
But you are still there
Teasing me
In fact, you are laughing.
