The Lone Dissenter
he stands firm
his mouth is an inch away from the microphone
his words of dissent
reach the roof
and he sees pigeons
free from their cages
he wants to tell them all about
these white birds
but the audience whose faces are serious
like lockers
only see bats and crows
the lights went off
and he finds himself all alone in the silence of his darkness
