Fossilized
you are angry now
for i have disappointed you
you expect more from me
to elate you
to certain heights beyond your
thinking
i am so sorry
i am still the son of this earth
and shall always be
on its belly
i shed off wings
i wear these arms again
brown, and muddy
to the feel
with roots as bones
and creeks as intestines
my thoughts are air
traveling anywhere
my imagination is the ocean
moving into other
continents
into uncertainties
i disappoint you
you are different
you are sky and space
sun and
moon
i may look up to you
but not forever
for i belong here
to the soil to dust to stones
to layers of
pressed history
destined to be forgotten
fossilized....
