The Portal
Whenever I walk this riverside path I can't help but think back
to when I was fifteen years old… Oh what bliss!
In my mind's eye I see myself walking hand in hand with my love
stopping every couple of paces for a passionate kiss.
I can clearly recall the time as though it was only yesterday,
we sat away from the path and close to the ears of gold.
The grass was lush and long, and away from prying eyes,
whatever we said and did would remain until now untold.
The echoing sound of the nearby river silenced us as it flowed by,
beneath the hot sun we lay holding hands, heaven came to mind.
Just listening to the water enriched the happiness in our hearts,
we wished we could stay there together until the end of time.
Her fragrance excited me and I told her that I like her perfume,
she said thank you, but it was only the shampoo.
She smiled and kissed me on the lips softly to express her love,
passion took us to the portal, together we went through.
Afterwards we talked about our thrilling, amazing journey
and our feelings of guilt when we returned.
Whole heartedly we agreed we had to go there again very soon,
if only to confirm what we had learned.
