Festival Deepavali
Aurora risen significant
Out of a demon's eternal sleep
Embedded in a gory sanguinary
Effused a spirit of renaissance
Long ago
Narakaasura slain; Lord Vishnu
Verged on revived merriment
Plunged in sacred ganges,
The people anointed, abluted,
Every water Gangetic in new colours
And colourful sparklings mottling the skies
Georgeously over a feasting spree.
A day of recurrent remembrance
