branding my body with the city's improbable chemistry
penetrating deep into my personal territory
days rise and fall cycling successive storms
seasons blazing forth with flags of nacre and napalm
heat lightning fluid thunder
spells of electric shock and euphoria
desire carves deep craters
breast of night ripples in respite
gentle rivers whisper deep sleep suggestions
death blows delivered brief as a sneeze
the air conditioner grumbles and sweats
running all day in sticky summer heat
tirelessly lifting the pen
pissing into the wind
thoughts pit matching wits with paper
locked in the playful throws of poetry's labor
inside intimacy bathing in warm broth
trance inducing self elapsing smooth -
- fusion high vibrational frequencies
imagination orchestrates subliminal gypsy symphonies
shadows animate instruments out of thin air
songs that punctuate the pulse of space
momentary mysteries of missing time
the clock's blind heart falls forward skipping a beat
psychic sub conscious photography
recognition of the self same reflection
in the eyes of a stranger
revisiting relationships long removed
welcoming friendships destined to be found
long walks alone anticipating love
cold chills fresh fallen snow caroling
with rucksack panhandlers parked
fireside along a rusted park bench
cheering as the children now grown
teach the soldiers returning home
lessons in the ways of love
empathy and altruism adhered
above avarice and envy
spirit of independence sewn with
messages of universal love and togetherness
value of a lifetime measured in compassionate action experience
succession of moments swiftly shifting into memory
every day demands another 86400 seconds sacrificed
autumn orange expanse of aroma and smoke
dead leaves smashed pumpkins in the streets
somber is the sky before the season's first snowfall
