The Veteran
He once was young.
He once was bold.
Now he's thoughtful
for he's old.
He once was strong.
He once was brave.
Now he's weak,
close to his grave.
He once was ignorant.
He once was blind.
Now he's smarter.
For he did find
war was wrong
when he was strong.
And killing was ignorant.
It doesn't belong
And so the veteran
cries in the end.
He asks forgiveness
and hopes to mend
his life.
