To Draw Water
Of a knife piercing into my right thigh,
Of a the pain that was also felt at my back;
But this blood flow is the witness to you all.
Like a message from my father's home,
I have more to tell you than to cry;
Like a message from my mother's house,
I have more experiences to share than to weep;
Like life in Mesopotamia when,
The women go out to draw water.
