Quotes about springfield

Bryan, Bryan, Bryan, Bryan

I

In a nation of one hundred fine, mob-hearted, lynching, relenting, repenting millions,
There are plenty of sweeping, swinging, stinging, gorgeous things to shout about,
And knock your old blue devils out.

I brag and chant of Bryan, Bryan, Bryan, Bryan,
Candidate for president who sketched a silver Zion,
The one American Poet who could sing outdoors,
He brought in tides of wonder, of unprecedented splendor,
Wild roses from the plains, that made hearts tender,
All the funny circus silks
Of politics unfurled,
Bartlett pears of romance that were honey at the cores,
And torchlights down the street, to the end of the world.

There were truths eternal in the gap and tittle-tattle.
There were real heads broken in the fustian and the rattle.
There were real lines drawn:
Not the silver and the gold,

Eat Your Hart Out, Rick Springfield

(jimmy hart)
(spoken) ring, ring. hello, hello, hi, is cyndi in?
No, who is this?
What do you mean, who is this? this is jimmy hart, the mouth of the south. where is she?
Shes gone to the rick springfield concert!
Rick springfield!? !
I called my chick
On the phone last night
Her mother said
She was gone for the night
She had two tickets
To a rock n roll show
To see her working class hero
So I jumped in my car
And I cruised downtown
I could hear the music playing
From a mile around
So I got me a ticket
And I walked inside
I could see him standing

Buffalo Springfield Again

Used to play in a rock n roll band,
But they broke up
We were young and we were wild
It ate us up
Now Im not saying who was right or wrong
Looking out on a big green lawn,
Girls and boys
Playing in the afternoon sun,
And lifes a joy
I heard an old song playing on a radio
Buffalo springfield again
Like to see those guys again
And give it a shot
Maybe now we can show the world
What we got
But Id just like to play for the fun we had
Buffalo springfield again
Buffalo springfield again

Dusty Springfield

(blossom dearie / norma tanega)
Dusty springfield, thats a pretty name
It even sounds like a game
In a green field, hobby horses play the dusty game when its may
Pink and paisley skies shining in green eyes
A magic pin wheel
London flowers in her hair
Dusty springfield
Silver starshine over crystal waters
Petals fall from her glance
Flowers sparkle
With a dew of morning, feathers float from her dance
Suddenly the songs the thing
Fill your cup, come to the spring
And youll stand so still
And youll feel the thrill
Dusty springfield, thats a pretty name
Pretty as a pearl
What a pretty girl

I don't want to mix the identities. Noah Drake isn't Rick Springfield.

They Do Not Seek Publicity

There are those who give,
With such positivity!
And with just one purpose...
To encourage others.

They do not seek publicity,
For their good deeds.
Nor do they anticipate in waiting,
For those they assist to express appreciation.

They are here to give!
With the service to others,
They do so well.
And those blessings they receive.

Dedicated to:
Andrea Dixon...Springfield, Mass.
Shayla Dixon...Springfield, Mass.

The Soul of the City Receives the Gift of the Holy Spirit

A BROADSIDE DISTRIBUTED IN SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS

Censers are swinging,
Over the town;
Censers are swinging,
Look overhead!
Censers are swinging,
Heaven comes down.
City, dead city,
Awake from the dead!

Censers, tremendous,
Gleam overhead.
Wind-harps are ringing,
Wind-harps unseen—
Calling and calling:—
"Wake from the dead.
Rise, little city,
Shine like a queen."

The Tale of the Tiger-Tree

A Fantasy, dedicated to the little poet Alice Oliver Henderson, ten years old.

The Fantasy shows how tiger-hearts are the cause of war in all ages. It shows how the mammoth forces may be either friends or enemies of the struggle for peace. It shows how the dream of peace is unconquerable and eternal.

I

Peace-of-the-Hea rt, my own for long,
Whose shining hair the May-winds fan,
Making it tangled as they can,
A mystery still, star-shining yet,
Through ancient ages known to me
And now once more reborn with me: —

This is the tale of the Tiger Tree
A hundred times the height of a man,
Lord of the race since the world began.

This is my city Springfield,
My home on the breast of the plain.

Morning Please Dont Come

(tom springfield)
Duet with tom springfield
Morning please dont come
Surely you see that my lover is sleeping
Morning please dont come
Let the night linger on
When the stars have left the sky
We must say fond goodbye
Make the night a little longer
Morning please dont come
Starshine glow a little stronger
Morning please dont come
Day dont break for you will take
My love away from me
Try to hold back the sun
I beg you morning please dont come
Sing sweet nightingale
Sing me a song of a night never-ending
Sing sweet nightingale
And Ill try to pretend

Ballad Of The Illinois Opry

Found myself heading down toward springfield
The last sign said it was twelve miles west
Its gettin hard to see through the salt on my windshield
But it looks like Im gonna make it before the sun sets
The morning I arrived was lincolns birthday
So I walked through his house and saw his tomb
I decided that a tour through the civil war memorial museum would be a drag
I was tired of seeing monuments about other mens doom
Now I dont want you people to think that all there is around springfield illinois
Are landmarks telling 'bout the good old lincoln years
Cus just north of town I saw a sign that said the illinois opry is open tonight
And the sweet sound of country music filled my ears
And I want to be a star in the illinois opry now
The people in the country certainly know how to play
It may be a while before Im ready
But Im gonna be up on that stage someday
I could easily write a whole song about the licks that guitar man was pickin
I could go on for hours 'bout the old boy on pedal steel
But Im not singing 'bout people who were just playin music
Im singing about how fine their music made me feel
