Quotes about abdicated

Neil Young

This thing called Patriot Act, through which we abdicated a lot of our civil rights to defend the country against terrorism, it's a four-year story.

The bird has an honor that man does not have. Man lives in the traps of his abdicated laws and traditions but the birds live according to the natural law of God who causes the earth to turn around the sun.

All Americans value the freedom of speech and the freedom of the press, and I believe this is essential for our continued way of life. But with this freedom comes responsibility. That responsibility has been abdicated here by some in the media and some in the government.

Small Flowers

The familiarity of a flower is so small,
I love to admire and drink this alcohol.
I may at first be appalling, so splendid,
Yet now the mother in you is abdicated.

Never in this mind of a lovely lady
Do I see applause, like the raining indecency
Of a mild season, one of the efforts,
May appalling weather have comforts.

Super-Rich

I am a unit of time, so long for my age,
This creates special energy in my cage.
The need for complex questions to cipher
Is so large-hearted, so large in scale, please no blunder.
I am united as I stand, and when I sit down,
The whole clown aborts in front of my crown.
I am a throned man who sticks glue in heaven,
I wanted that clown to carry out an ablution.
This job to be done is so wildly contested,
But my spouse can learn more as I have abdicated.

A Diminished Quality Of Life

More will abandon those issues,
Said to be unjust.
By those outspoken,
To focus attention brought upon them.
Than they will to show support,
To the ones advocating rights of others...
Not to have them abdicated.
With a holding onto them to leave untouched.

'Why? '

For whatever the reason,
It is clear there are those who fear...
Losing their association,
With those who affiliate themselves...
As conformists to what they hold dear.
Even though a diminished quality of life is near.

'Maybe...
'If' no one says anything,

Don't Sympathize

Why I detest sympathy
It revives hurtful memories
Those days that are sad,
Let them go with my past.
Don't remind me of my misery
They are now my history
Those friends I have hurt
I am human, I was only wrong
Even Olympus knew no love
Zeus lived in sexual lust
Hera was too jealous
Prometheus should rule Olympus
Zeus should be chained
For goodness sake, let him wail
Tiresias should not be so blinded
Oedipus shouldn't have left
Lius should have abdicated
And his throne coveted,
The Sphinx shouldn't have
had a riddle

Grief

I

On immemorial altitudes august
Grief holds her high dominion. Bold the feet
That climb unblenching to that stern retreat
Whence, looking down, man knows himself but dust.
There lie the mightiest passions, earthward thrust
Beneath her regnant footstool, and there meet
Pale ghosts of buried longings that were sweet,
With many an abdicated “shall” and “must.”

For there she rules omnipotent, whose will
Compels a mute acceptance of her chart;
Who holds the world, and lo! it cannot fill
Her mighty hand; who will be served apart
With uncommunicable rites, and still
Surrender of the undivided heart.

The Family Portrait

The Tsar sat quiet and composed
His hands folded on his thigh
Around him were his daughters,
Four beauties with dark eyes
His faithful wife beside him
Posed regal and serene
Their little boy, Alexi,
kneeling there beside the Queen.

How different five years later
At their fatal, final scene
The Czar and the Czarina
Sat beside the heir, it seems.

The four girls were behind them
The maids and doctor too
All roused from sleep near midnight
by a rough and motley crew.

The White Russians were in battle

The Pitiful Young Prince

Hooded crows fly at night
over the walls of Chang'an,
uttering harsh cries
above Welcoming Autumn Gate,
then head for people's houses,
pecking at the lofty roofs,
roofs beneath which high officials
scurry to escape barbarians.
The golden whip is broken in two,
the nine horses are run to death,*
but it is still not possible
for all of royal blood to flee together...

In plain sight below his waist
a precious ornament of blue coral,
the pitiful prince stands weeping
at the corner of the road.
When I ask, he refuses to tell
either name or surname;
he only speaks of his desperation,
