At Halloween, when nightmares start
And all things go awry
And there come strains upon the heart
Such that we're prone to die
And all at once a startling sound
Leaps like a lion's pounce,
It's then hobgoblins come around
And when your courage counts!

At Halloween, when ghoulies go
About the business here
And howling storms begin to grow
And growl as if with fear
And lightning strikes both Man and tree
And beast that's in the field,

My life, just got grim
My life, on account of him

Theres a down town fairy singing out proud mary
As she cruises christopher street
And some southern queen is acting loud and mean
Where the docks and the badlands meet
This halloween is something to be sure

Theres a greta garbo and an alfred hitchcock
And some black jamaican stud
Theres five cinderellas and some leather drags
I almost fell into my mug
Theres a crawford, davis and a tacky cary grant
And some homeboys lookin for trouble down here from the bronx
But there aint no hairy and no virgin mary

My Halloween Spirit (The Ghost That Carries The Jack-O-Lantern)

From my childhood and now to adulthood
I always knew when to expect you
I always knew when you'd come around
Because you're a part of my lifetime

You're my halloween spirit
Even though you're dressed perfectly as a ghost
While carrying a jack-o-lantern in your hands

Even though I've gotten older
You still inspire me to celebrate Halloween
As well as keeping on instilling a love for me of Halloween
The years keep on flying by
But every year since my childhood
You still know me
You still remember me
You still inspire me to celebrate Halloween
As well as still encouraging me, to have the love that I have for Halloween

You want a love depicted,
That's open free to limits.
With eyes dripping fixed on love.

And everyone you meet,
You want them left believing...

Halloween Yolin

HALLOWEEN YOLIN

Charming her smile. Black painted hat
Halloween prepared by night.
Rising from sheets of purest white
In haste she dressed, caressed the cat.
Scorpions, spiders, sable bat,
The table decked, while pumpkin bright
Inside did glow with candle light.
No pains she spared while father sat,
Eyed lips dyed in vermillion vat, -
Yet inside thoughts turned out not! Kite
Only flew to test insight.
Light-hearted talk tripped pitapat.
If Tuesday's dinner she renews
No other venu would I choose!

Halloween Treat

Mom and I owned only rags,
And stayed hungry for lack of food.
The utilities were always shut off,
He drank while momma stewed.

For days we had cried, our
Stomachs ached from emptiness.
Again, he was not yet home,
Bringing Momma more distress.

With painful eyes, she put me to bed,
Then tucked me in good and tight.
She whispered, “Son, please don’t get up,
For you know it’s Halloween night.

You might hear strange noises,
Just close your eyes and count sheep.
Child, no matter how frightened you get,
Stay covered and try to sleep.

On Halloween

On Halloween the sky was scarred
With full moon stuck, a piercing shard,
Within a hole, the eye of night,
Above the smell of death and fright,
Along a bone laced boulevard.

The corpses, dragged from crypts unbarred,
The flames, they gazed, with pale regard,
At roasting rot, a blood soaked sight...
On Halloween.

The bones, they blanched within the yard,
Again to have their evening marred,
By ghouls and fiends who rip and bite
With claws and fangs which drip delight
While gorging flesh, so slightly charred...
